Looks great! I've made a few boxes with a copper inlay, same method, but I can't afford to do a whole bowl with these copper prices! That is now a $800 bowl! Lol joking. Thx for the video

It depend on the wood how thin I go, and what the plaend end result is :-) thanks for watching and stay safe :-)

Thank you very much .. the laser works great, take some time to figure out the burning settings! the price was under 180$ on Ebay not to bad I thing 😀
This copper wire inlay is beautifully executed. Especially the edge on both ends is a good idea. Thanks for sharing.

@@WOODTURNINGBYBRANDSTRUP May I ask you how mutch you like the Record Power lathe? I have become very enthusiastic about woodturning and now want to trade in my small table lathe. I have the Coronet Herald 1420 or the CL4 on my wishlist. I would like to know your experience with this lathe. Thanks in advance. Frank.
@@TheTinyWorkshop HI Frank, This is my first lathe and I don't have anything to compare with at all.. but with the knowledge I have now after 2 years with the lathe is that it is great, I have hade abselutly no problems with it and I have turned some pretty unstable and large (in my scale 34 cm diameter and 42 cm over the side) bowls on it .. when I turn bowls the fact that it can turn the headstuck over the side is great.. if I need to find one thing is that if you mount it on legs it is a little low to me I am 183 cm tall, but you can use the table mount to give like 5 cm more i think just did not do it yet.. but as I sayed in the beginning I dont have anything to compare it with.. with that sayed I will probely have to upgrade at some point, but the only reason for that is that I like to turn bigger bowls. and hollowforms .. I hope that anwser you question just a little .. if you have anything at all you like to know about it just write me a mail or a comment in one of the videos I anwser all comments ..

Hi Kim, your bowl looks great. I haven't tried copper inlay yet, but you made it look easy. Stay safe, Rob
Hi Rob, it was not to difficult, just need to take it slow and have the ends match up right befor gluing.. love to see the result if you make one some day, i subed.. to you page :-) have a great day and stay safe 😀😀
@@WOODTURNINGBYBRANDSTRUP Thank you for subscribing, I did the same for you earlier. I love the woodturning community, people are so kind and happy to share techniques, knowledge and wood :). I am missing my club so am trying to connect using RUclips, turns out making videos is fun...but not so easy as it looks. I hope people also learn something from me eventually. Keep safe, Rob
Great work, Brandstrup! I tried to do an inlay copper wire like that once, and the ends came loose when I was cleaning it up - I got a bunch of small cuts across my fingers before I could get out of the way. Nice to see it done well and successfully.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate the nice comment, and that you take the time to watch my videos.😀 Have a great day and stay safe ! 😀😀😀
Beautiful working,👍👍👍,a few days ago,I put tin into my woodturning,😅😅. Thanks again for your video.
Wonderful i like too see that sounds cool, thanks for watching my videos .. have a great day and stay safe .. 😀😀
You are right, safety is so important. Tin has low melting point and easy operating, I turned a pen container and a sundail, putting a little tin into them.😅😅
Great Video! I've used sanding sealer before the copper inlay just to try and stop the "Black Mess" from spreading on the wood. Regards, wooddude.uk 👍
Great tip! with the sanding sealer I have to try that next time.. thanks for the comment.. stay safe and have a great day .. 😀
Nice bowl well executed, I’ve made some of these had the same experience with wax paste on the copper. Try oil for the next one. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for the tip! And thanks for watching my videos, have a great day and stay safe 😀😀😀

The copper inlay really makes it pop
Yes i think so to the copper and the Ash go well together.. thank you very much for watching my video.. stay safe and have a great day 😀
Nice job on the bowl. Can you please do a video on your laser engraver. Thanks.
Hi George, to be honest i really dont know much about the engraver, and i am still fumbling around 😬😀 There is a lot of great videos on RUclips about it, mine is a cheap 2500mw elsmakerc copy . thanks for Watching .. and have a great day .😀😀
أنت رائع
thanks for watching
Awesome work! What laser do you use?
Hi ... i use this one www.ebay.de/itm/5500mw-Deskto... .. it work great .. thank you for watching .. have a great day and stay safe 😀
Great video and bowl! This came up in my suggestions, and I’m glad it did. I’m a huge fan of metal inlay. I wonder if making the channel deeper so you can backfill the copper with ca glue or epoxy would solve the discoloration problem? I also had a hard time hearing you speak over the turning sounds occasionally, but that’s minor!
Great suggestion with the epoxy, I think I will try that next time I do one, I like the Metal inlay too i found out doing this.. be sure to see my next video it will be in the same ballpark 😀😁 the sound I will try and check the voice over better next time, if you cant here it the point of doing it kind off go away 😁😁😁😁 Thanks for watching .. have a great day and stay safe ..
Beautiful. I will try the brass wire ring. Have you ever ground one flat and flush with the contours of the bowl?
No this was the first time I ever tried it :-) but it will differently not be the last 😀😀 Thanks for watching stay safe and have a great day 😀😀
Nice video of your arm and shoulder while installing the wire, I have no idea what you did to get it to stay? The finished product is great, just wish you could’ve shown how the wire was held in place….
:-) one of my first videos .. hope you will finde the later videos better .. thanks for watching though .. and stay safe :-)
Camera angle was the best to view the work
ok :-) Thanks for watching stay safe :-)
Hi i'm new to your chanel, could you do a video on the alternative, sharping tool system and tell why you favor the newest one? Thank's for the wire tip.
Hi Chris, first thank you very much for watching I really appreciate it .. to get it right, do you mean why I did a switch from the Tormek to the Robert Sorby Proedge sharpning systems ??
The inlay process begins @ 4:30
You are right, but hope viewers will watch more than that! and support my channel.. but thanks for watching .. Have a great Christmas and stay safe.. 😀🎄
Liked the video, format works grand, ive found that discolouration is likely with anything metallic embedded when sanding paste is used, came round for you ok tho, nice piece !!
Thank you very much for the comment, and thank you for confirming the abrasive paste teori .. have a great day and stay safe 😀
Interesting way to use copper cable, very informative.
Would it have been better to seal the wood prior to fitting the copper cable as copper always turns black when being cleaned.
Yes maby wood sealer will do the trick, I might try that next time 😀 at least I now know that all is getting black when polishing copper 😀 Thanks for the comment. and for watching my video.. stay safe and have a great day 😀
Nice. Denatured alcohol likely contains methanol and other toxics. Isopropyl alcohol is safer.
Thank you very much for watching and for the tip.. i will look in to the declaration on both at take the safer choice of the two .. thanks .. Stay safe and have a great day .. 😀
Altid godt med inspirerende fiduser😂👍
Det er det i hvert fald 😀😀😀 Var hyggeligt med vores lille værksteds møde, må vi gøre igen 😀 God aften .. Vi ses ..
very nice, after cleaning the dust with Denatured alcohal, wich raises the grain again, I use a manmade steel wool to take the grain down again. I've never used an abrasive wax to sand and I never use bees wax to finish a bowl. Too much maintenance. I like a drying oil. Watco or Mahoneys walnut oil.
Great tip! i never used steel wool before is there a special type to use ? I use Walnut oil too and Danish oil and other types.. but when turning ash as we have a lot of in Denmark, beeswax give a really nice finish .. but you are right it is more maintenance :-) thanks for watching my video.. stay safe and have a great day 😀😀😀
The man made steel wool is sometimes called scotchbrite which is a brand name. You want the super fine white color buffing pads. You can use them to apply some finishes, too. Like Rubio monocoat or other hard oil wax combos.
Ben Nawrath cool thanks
What kind of clamps do you use to hold the wire?
Hi, the clamp is just some cheap plastic glue clamps i found in a packet of 10 in the 2$ pile in the market. like this www.ebay.co.uk/p/1466925207 Thanks for watching have a great day .. 😀
What brand is the laser burner you use for your logo? Great video by the way‼️
Thank you for watching... my laserburner is www.ebay.com/ipp/382983383050?transactionId=1076900524025 this one .. i have the 2500nw version and it works great .. and was cheap .. Stay safe and have a great day .. 😀😀
@@WOODTURNINGBYBRANDSTRUP
THANK YOU
Is that a Shapeoko with a laser attachment?
Hi, thank you very much for watching, the CNC is just a normal cheap 2500nw laserengraver(180$), and I had a friend 3d print a holder for a extra fan for it.. Stay safe and have a great day 😀😀
What is going to stop the wire from oxidizing and turning green?
Like All Cooper you probely need to polish it fot that not to happen.. 😁 Thanks for watching, stay safe and have a great day 😁
It won’t unless you live in a cave, or keep the bowl outside. It will turn a darker copper color though. The green pennies have seen harsh conditions. Of course, some woods might not play well with copper.
What product do you use to set the copper?
Hi April, I just use a Thin CA glue, and then the copper string fit snugly into the groove almost all the way around :-) ... Than you for watching .. Have a great day and stay safe 😀
@@WOODTURNINGBYBRANDSTRUP thank you for taking the time to post.
I see a lot of guys using ca glue when they inlay. Would not epoxy glue be better? How does the ca glue hold up over time? Like 50 years time.
Hi thank you for watching, i have never used epoxy glue so i dont know .. and on the other hand i never had trouble with the ca glue .. but dont know if it last 50 years.. :-) have a great day and stay safe ..
I was hoping that because it said electric copper, it would serve a purpose other than esthetic. Maybe like be used to power something in the bowel.....
Sorry to disapoint you but it is purely esthetic :-) thank you for watching . have a great day and stay safe 😀
@@WOODTURNINGBYBRANDSTRUP oh it looks great I just read it wrong.
@@jvon3885 Thank you very much :-)
I would suggest lowering the back noise when you speak, because I hardly ear what you say.
ok I will in the next videos .. thanks 😀 and thanks for watching .. stay safe and have a great day 😀
It’s too bad you had your arm in the way the whole time you were gluing in the wire. 🙁🙁
Yes I know it was not optimal.. I got so in to the work I forgot All about the cam 😁😁 I Will do better in future videos 👍 thank for watching and sorry for the bloked view 😁 stay safe and have a great day..
