I really like how this ipod looks. I just bought one on ebay (some are like $400 - incredibly expensive for a piece of tech from 10 years ago). Apparently if you swap out the battery then you get 36 hrs of battery life with the HDD. Obviously this would be longer if you flash mod. This is a brief overview of how it went: - won auction - purchased iPod, new battery and tools required to replace battery - realises that I just bought an iPod with a broken battery - realises that it doesn't matter because its gonna get replaced - looks up how to replace battery "NIGHTMARE" "WORST iPOD TO OPEN" "DO AT OWN RISK" This should be fun.....
Great video. I just replaced my battery and HD on my classic 5th generation Ipod, to use during work to avoid distractions from my phone and just listen to music. It's great!
Sometimes old technology is just better than New Technology. The iPod classic from 2009 is a perfect example of how old technology is just straight up better than the shit that people use today.
Yes my old iPod from over 15 years ago still sinks with MAC OS Catalina in 2020. My biggest fear is that someday the iPod classics will no longer be readable on a modern computer. Thankfully that hasn’t happened yet.
How many songs can your ipod hold? I'm interested in buying a newer model since my older one is currently at capacity and I hate having to delete my music to fit more.
Music music music is all I care about. The touch never holds enough. I have the seventh gen. and the 6th gen oh shit nano I have music on every device conceivable😂
The IPOD CLASSIC (2024) is back and what is nice no phone call interruptions. I was a Windows users for years; prefer all Apple myself. I have my original IPOD Classic since it first came out from Best Buy. The 30 pin is more stable too. NO TRACKING TOO.
It really comes down to personal tastes. They both sound better than music streaming on an IPhone! All of the professional reviews from when the IPods were released say pretty much the same thing : that they are both good, just a bit different. General consensus today is that the 5 is preferred slightly to the 6, but not by enough to worry about.
if you look at numbers and graphs, sure the 5th gen will be a total shit as opposed to newer DAPs including phones but listen with a good mid fi hp/in-ears and all the others will sound complete ass. it's like it has a built-in Bauer stereophonic dsp bec the projection of the music is like that of an actual speakers.
@@automachinehead I have read a number of differing opinions about the DAC in the Gen 5 iPods versus the ones in recent iPhones and iPads. I don’t have the equipment to do any testing myself. And my 66 year old ears are definitely not up to the task of evaluating music quality! But as I stated above, sound is a matter of taste. Pure is not always better for some listeners. Just like a solid state amp sounds different from a tube model, and a CD sounds different from records, it all comes down to preference in the end. I prefer the sound of my iPod to the sound of my iPad Air2 and my iPad mini 5. Is the sound better? Probably not in any technical sense. It just suits me better..
@@clydeosterhout1221 I agree. It's our brains that do the processing not our ears so when the brain likes a certain sound the rest of the body will follow suit. that is why audiophilia should be categorized under psychoacoustics instead of electronics engineering. However, there is a difference in the sound profile between the particular Wolfson used in 5th gen vs the Cirrus Logic used in recent iDevices and even older ears can distinguished it BECAUSE the difference lies in the bass region, which is not affected even with advanced hearing loss. One is not better than the other, was just saying that the two just sound different from each other and it's up to the user what he likes.
@Anonymous Linux Nerd Then the quality ends up being awful and it takes a lot of times to download and tag. Better to rip a CD through iTunes or tag it yourself. Better quality and easier.
This video was exactly what I was looking for. For some reason it's really hard to find reviews of the actual interface and software. Good job.

I couldn't be bothered and paid the expense for one pre-upgraded with warranty 😂
@@gwc597how much did you pay for it?
Man, I love this generation of Apple. Their design, products and UI at the time in like 2007-2009 was just mind-blowing. Today its just nostalgic.

It's not because they can't do better today, it's because they want everything to be a subscription service.
This is an old video from my old channel. Going to be uploading a few more older videos to this channel. Sorry for the confusion!
I have this iPod. It's nice and a keeper.
nice review i still got the 160GB :]
👍👌
Hey! Currently, can you still sync with newest iTunes on MacOs Mojave?
Yes you can.

@@mopes2713 I think USB-C will replace USB-A at some point, but I’m sure there are adaptors...

55k-40k Songs tops
Depends on how long the song is
Love the 120gig. Do you think playback is also better quality than off an iPad? What do you like best for a case- leather, clear plastic, or silicon?
I LOVE THIS IPOD.
Does the Classic have a volume toggle?

You can get a 256GB 7th gen iPod Touch
Great playlist and Albums
Does it play or has Apple Music app?

How's the audio quality? I hear the 7th generation sounds flat and bad EQ compared to the 5th generation

Great Review
I'm even more surprised about the 1TB version.
I got the iPod touch 7th Gen 2556 gigs in sliver
Do you know if there's a passcode option available for this generation ipod? I don't want anyone to see all my music lol.
sadly no. But I am the same way, if I can add a passcode I will!
It’s the only thing stopping this device reaching perfection 😂
Nostalgia 😌
You can't turn off the split screen huh?😕😞
