I put a nice red backlight on my DMG, and i gotta say... removing the LCD reflective backing from the LCD glass is one of the most harrowing things i've done in a long time... the fear of A) tearing the ribbon B) shattering the glass C) damaging the ribbon's connection or D) cutting myself even if i've done it all right.. are HUGE. Dang.

if you'd take a little more time aligning stuff, it would be easier for you to solder the stuff in place. also its a good idea to remove as much of the old solder from the un-used pads underneath anyways plus it would fit much nicer, making for a way more solid job :)

Elliot, I just wanted to let you know,
you're my inspiration. I began watching your videos quite a while back because the idea of someone cleaning and fixing old consoles intrigued me, and since I began watching your videos all that time ago I've been obsessed with it! Your videos have encouraged me to begin looking into old and dirty consoles to fix, renew, and modify them, and just getting to invest myself into something so unique and rewarding has really pulled me out of a very lengthy depression I've been dealing with. Your videos have sparked a love of old game consoles inside of me, and I can't thank you enough for encouraging me to go out and do something with what I have. Your videos are the best, thanks so much for making them and sharing them with us. I'm your biggest fan

I imagine what you're imagining will cause some case damage, so an aftermarket rear shell would be needed, unless you mean to just use regular Ni-Mh AA cells. As they're Ni-Mh, they'd have to be fully discharged before charging.

Hey I just wanted to tell you that the gameboy that has yellowed because of age, you can get the shell and soak it in hydrogen peroxide inside of a transparent sealed container and let the whole thing in the sun light for a day or more. The hydrogen peroxide and the uv light from the sun rays will restore the plastic to it's original color. Be aware that this process may erase any graphics that are on the plastic.
