Whenever I clean my Gameboy shells using a toothbrush, I think to myself: "If I would clean my teeth as thoroughly as my Gameboys, I wouldn't have to see the dentist this often...."
JJ's home of memes and cute comment!
Just go with it, lol
or at all
Yeah

R.I.P Those Doraemon Stickers (1980-2020) 😭😂
I’m kind of glad they’re gone lol it just shows the awesomeness of a gameboy
@@TheOldScoola 0-0
@@TheOldScoola that's so sad
So much for those whimsical memories just so some collectortard can put it on a shelf to acquire dust for decades
@@icebearcriminal1265 if you insult them why are you on a channel watching it?
This gameboy must have one heck of a story.
Whoever had this must love retro manga
@@akumatsutranslations Whoever had this was a kid who loves manga. And it ain't retro back then.
@@rovidelarosa Tensai Bakabon is a series from the 60s, as are Doraemon and Astro Boy, even if they had current itterations running around that time, I'd still argue even then it was retro.
@@akumatsutranslations I wouldn't call it retro if it's still ongoing at the time. Do you call new episodes of the Simpsons that airs today retro?
@@rovidelarosa actually yeah just because how old the show it
I love this Game Boy. It showed all of the signs of being an important part of some kids childhood and only showed reasonable signs of age, not abuse. Love seeing these artifacts.
I can't see how there was no abuse done to the Game Boy. Let's face it, plenty of us have put our Game Boys in a pretty bad state as kids =/
@@OhSayWhatIsTruthtoo many kids. I was 5 years old when my parent’s entrusted me with the Game Boy color. I had the atomic purple one with the rechargeable battery pack from I believe it was Pelican that made it. I would play Pokémon Crystal all the time on it and I’d be riding in the back of my parent’s car at night when we’d go out places and I’d hold the game boy up to the window to be able to see the screen. Hoping to catch a glimpse of street light. I took care of that thing better than any toys I owned back then. I knew that if I didn’t, my mom would take it away because she wouldn’t trust me to not break it. I don’t understand how some people can be so careless with their stuff even as little kids.
Someone sure loved their Doraemon stickers!
Me here 😅
Me
Bakabon too, apparently
I almost thought that girl on the bottom left was Marko-chan.
@@lightspeedmurphy7546 that's bakabon's mama (from, well... Tensai Bakabon, they never give her a proper name)
The owner truly loved his only Game Boy Light-
Like he said, *"Let there be light"*
Now that's just heartwarming.
Yamcha tastes horrible
lol
Removing the stickers was like the scene in Toy Story 2 where the guy paints over "Andy". It had such character before!
Surprised I had to scroll so far down to find this sentiment!
Even though the original sentiment was lost woody probably got a new mark from bonnie. This gameboy now has a new lease on life with a new battery back which it probably missed.
Guys, im gonna cry. You gotta stop
Andy was handwritten. These stickers are ugly and unoriginal
Disagree. Stickers are cheap and all the same. Now if the previous owner had drawn their own art or put their name on it in pen then I would agree. As a fellow restorer though this gameboy needed love.
Channel owners: "If this video gets-"
Everyone: Done.
theres an extra 4,000 likes on this video
Yea that usually happens
He is Elliot, idiot
@@leap123_ Dude they could be someone random who found them on their recommendation page, don't call them idiots you fucking moron.
@@zenithaltitan you are the idiot here I found this in my recommendations, other did too, so how are we supposed to know?
As a kid I never would’ve put stickers on my gameboy, I was afraid I would change my mind so I would never stick them anywhere
Damn that weird sticker anxiety is too real. Was never able to put them anywhere. What if I found a better place to put them or I would change my mind and hated how it looked and then had to get the sticker off again?
So I take it you don’t have any tattoos?
Roxx The '96er yup and I don’t plan on getting any
Same
I was the same way, I have a clear gameboy advance sp that I've had since childhood, thing still looks brand new accept for a few scratches and some discoloration on the buttons
I wish the stickers could've been recovered, they give it character.
I was just thinking the same thing. It really gives a personal feel to it - like you are prolonging the life of the previous owner’s childhood
Meh, I have never like stickers or marker on my electronics, they bother me like, THANKS KADEN!
Yup it just became another game boy light
The stickers told a story, sadly that piece of history went away. Still a great restore
Reminds me of the part in Toy Story 2 where that guy was restoring Woody and repainted over the name "Andy" on his boot.
I actually love that this game boy visibly looks like it's been restored and repaired, with the mismatched, homemade battery cover and the different polarizing filter. I love restored consoles, to me it looks like it's been loved, loved enough to the point that it's been used so much that it's been damaged, and then valued enough that it's been restored to a usable and pleasant state. In my eyes, it adds way more value than scarcity ever could.
Keep up the good work, Elliot!
I prefer it too it looks more retro
Good refurb Elliot, nicely edited video :-)
:)
i love your channel no homo
Thanks Vince!
Couldn’t agree more my friend
My two favorite RUclipsrs!
Man, it's insane how much you've grown this past year. It's really wild watching someone become way more comfortable on camera and develop their personality. You and DankPods really inspired me to start my own retro tech collection.
Same. I bought a GameBoy Pocket recently because of this channel. I have emulator devices to play gameboy games already but it's a whole different thing playing them on an actual GameBoy, so I got an Everdrive too, the expensive one, because it has save states and stuff on it. Gonna get a DMG GameBoy with a bivert backlight soon too, because that's cheaper than buying a Japanese GameBoy Light and does the same thing, it keeps the original screen but just adds a light, it's not a modern lcd screen
“Hey it’s Mario’s 10th anniversary.. oh wait that’s just Wapro.” I died there 😂
He's Wario's cousin
Only just started the video now, guessing the sticker won’t survive. But absolutely LOVE the look of it covered in stickers, might do this to one of mine haha
No
Craig Gardner I agree
IT IS THE LAW TO NOT DO IT
DOIT TO ANOTHER ONE
BLASPHEMY
The stickers were a nice time capsule of the era and were almost worth keeping the Game Boy in that state.
My thoughts exactly. The stickers looked amazing.
what do you mean almost? those stickers were what made it look so cool and unique
"Restoring an old 80s road bike"... where is THAT video 👀
Has stickers covering the whole thing.
"good job to the previous owner for taking great care of this"
Dont know man...maybe the stickers kept tha shell from being extra scratched.
Honestly I liked seeing the stickers on this one. It added some personality to it.
CX91 it was horrible and destroyed collector value
@@TheOldScoola Damn, what a dumb kid enjoying his toy in the 1990's and not thinking about the future collector's value of his toy 30 some years later.
James Bush I know right...pfft yeah us kids back in the day so dumb.

Me: nevermind...
that blue round character is called Doraemon, It's a very popular character in Japan, or at least I think so.
It is. Any japanese person would know it.
And in other parts of Asia as well! There was even an attempt to bring it over to the USA where it briefly aired on Disney XD. But it just wasn’t able to achieve the penetration it has in Asia.
i remember they also used to do it in spain and in other parts of europe
Like hatsune?
@@Magic_Doge like italy
For those wondering why someone would put that many stickers on it: children. My old DS probably had more stickers than this at some point because for some reason I liked putting them on there
Love the shoots inn this video! The closeups, the cutting, everything.. Loved it! Found my inner peace.
Absolutely love how chill this video was Elliot, nice one!
Honestly I like the darker green look man, feels like a nod to the DMG
it kinda pain me to see those old stickers being destroyed, i would've remove them carefully and keep them. Idk they seem historic.
yep same, i was sure he was gonna keep them, it looked so nice 😭😭
Yeah, I guess their memory lives on in this video 🤷🏽♂️
the existence of this video gave those stickers more exposure than any museum
Watching you clean and repair these Gameboys is soothing to watch. Keep up the videos, I'll keep watching them! Great work as always!
You got hella more than 3000 likes! Congrats, been watching you for a minute and haven’t had a hobby I’ve enjoyed like this for a lot of years!
Watching this so that one day I can make this a hobby
2:14 the baseball stickers are from a Japanese baseball game on the nintendo switch called jikkyou poweful pro baseball
I'm fairly certain they're from before that as well. I remember a rather terrible Wii baseball game using that character design
The series has been running since the ninteties. There was a Game Boy version released the same year as the Game Boy Light, so there's a decent chance this device's original owner had a copy.
I guess we are going to get a video about retro-brighting. I must say, I'm pretty stoked to see a video about only retro brighting. Great video Elliot!
Nice refurb Elliot :)
I really enjoyed this kind of ASMR editing!
For removing stickers: have you heard about product called "GooGone"? It makes wonders
I'm sad all the stickers were taken away, dont get me wrong, I understand it's a rare gameboy but it looked so cool and it clearly had a story and a life before ending up where it did.
Same, I've restored gb's with stickers in the past and i always take a very flat spudget and try to delicately remove them, and place them in my stickerbook. I like having the stickers as a memory of the restoration of the console.
@@leggie1126 I respect you
I truly enjoy the restoration videos. Great work man!
Man, your videos are so relaxing. I could just sit back and binge for a couple of hours.
the blue character is Doremon! He's a robot cat that lost his ears! Honestly i kinda love obviously loved and worn stuff like this, whatever person owned it clearly loved it a lot until they grew up. The collector in me is of course thrilled to see it restored but also another part of me is sad seeing all the stickers and stuff go...the memories they held and whatnot. Maybe I'm just a bit to much of a sentimentalist.
Well done for returning it so we’ll... but I’d argue it was more meaningful the way it was before :(
Your editing and filming for these just keeps getting better and better!
Its cool watching these more modern video and comparing them back to his old video and just watching the substancial jump in video editing and overall quality and entertainment, keep it up
can you replace a gameboy light power switch with a GBA one?
3D printer?
People RAHEEEEELY need to stop using WD 40 on plastics, especially as a part of a restoration process. It is corrosive and makes plastics and rubbers brittle. It also makes it overly shiny and greasy. If you need a salvant on your restoration project, generally isopropyl alcohol will dissolve most adhesives and stickers. If you are looking to condition/brighten/shine up the plastic casings, then use something like Armor All which is designed for that purpose. Also, are you wearing a respirator for isopropyl alcohol?
I've got to say Elliot, I'm so glad you started doing refurbs again. They're why I followed you in the first place.
That instrumental playing during the glue cleaning segment was funky af, I love it... 🤘🏻
Great job as always on the Gameboy, its dope.
Noooo the stickers were so cool :c
plot twist: he puts the gameboys in that condition himself for the content. :D
Very nice video, great music and editing. Top notch :)
I love the classic refurb videos!
Why didn't you save the stickers collectors would pay a lot for some.
And Tom nooks just staring at him the entire time
Absolutely loved the close up cleaning footage, it is really satisfying! the toothbrush part on the pcb made me laugh with the scrubbing sounds and music!
The cinematography(?) In this video was on point Elliot! Great refurb. Keep it up!
Tbh I thought it looked a lot better before he scrubbed all the stickers off
The sticker with the brunette lady on her knees is Lucy from Peanuts.
no it isnt it's the mom from Bakabon
AMAZING job dude!
Great restoration on the game boy light thanks for showing this video and always God bless you.
Why are you wearing a respirator now
I want to know what that stuff was

I'm on lunch right now after a rough day at work, and I am so looking forward to this :-) thank you mate!
Hope your day gets better!
Your video is amazing, as always!
Thanks, man, waitin' for the next)
Should’ve kept the stickers, they gave the gameboy so much character and personality from the previous owner, honestly i wouldn’t have touched the front cover, personally i think it looks bland without them:/
Pretty good video tho!
One of these is in a used shop down the street from me and really cheap at about 30 dollars. I didn't know it was so rare so thanks for making the video so I could learn! I'll pick it up!
Beautiful restore, man. That's one pf my favorite Game Boy's that relessed. Also love that you wear a Seiko Pulsemeter.
The Astro boy Gameboy Light is one of the prettiest Gameboys i knew. I saw the Gameboy on Sendico the first time and i just felt in love with it
