- In this video, I go over how to Zero your Red Dot Sight (RDS) for IDPA, PCSL, and USPSA. Keep in mind that were looking for acceptable and not precision in Action Pistol. Thank you to Cyelee Optics for providing the optics used in this video!

Good instructor!!!! Thanks!
I like the way you handle diverse subjects.
Awesome man! Perfect video content
Thanks for the video. Glad I'm not the only one free handing my dots and calling it good enough. I do paint mark and regularly do a 3 to 5 shot confirmation prior to a session. Looking forward to your compaion videos and S2C content!
I’ve gone through some maturation with sighting dots. I used to just slap the dot on and start out at 5/7 yards get the dot centered up and then dial in more precision at 15 yards free hand. Lately Ive started shooting off a bag at 25 yards to get dialed. Then verify on 4” steel at 25 yards and paper at 5-10-15 free hand. I’m not sure much matters where or how you start as long as you are dialed and confidently making hits at a variety of distances.
Thanks for the thoughtful sighting in advice.
Good stuff man
I figured you would have been sighting in the PDP Match SF
I had filmed it, but I figured why share the same info twice
Huh, who would of thought that just slaving your red dot to the iron sights wasn't easy enough. I guess if your gun doesn't have iron sights and you don't have access to a barrel laser, this is the best method.
Never knew that a barrel laser took into consideration of ammo ballistics
I prefer a 25 yard zero. Tried 10 and didn’t like aiming low on longer shots.
That works. From my experience, at that range… the shots are at best 1-2” low at 7-10yds. I’ll zero at 25yds for big matches where I know I’ll see quite few stages with precision (head target) shooting at 30 plus yds.
@@TheGentlemanGunnerYa, I’m used to holding over a little just like with a rifle at 25 with a 50 yard zero. Thanks for the reply. Keep up the good work 👍
I know this is the most common way to zero a pistol red dot. But I'm just curious, how come a rest isn't used? Doesn't it help to eliminate the human error part, so we don't have to call our shots? Additionally, why not just bring the dot down to where your iron sight is?
All good points.
Here’s why I do it… disciplined practice. You can certainly be mechanically accurate, but that added benefit of knowing where your gun is in your hands is an added level of confidence. If this were bullseye… then I’d absolutely use a rest. So your perspective is correct especially if you can hit 100% accuracy at speed.
Regarding iron sight question… assuming you are talking about a co-witness setup… most hold well a touch over the typical 12 o’clock … in most cases the dot sits in line at 12 o’clock
I think sage dynamics video on why you don’t slave dots to irons stands up well and is worth a watch for people with this question.
@@TheGentlemanGunnerI’ve been back and forth on zeroing with and without a rest…for practical EDC, it seems like zeroing offhand makes the most sense. Your grip, line of sight, etc, just isn’t the same from a rest.
I would have mentioned degreasing the threads and the holes it's not me in the butt before!
3 how to get a sexy storm trooper gun!!!
Comes with “I can’t hit anything” as a standard feature!!!!
😂😂😂 I need one!!!
