9 years ago, I remember my visit of one German pensioner from Frankfurt am Mainz, who has cottage in Slovakia, nearby our cottage. We were talking also about German songs that I already had know. I remember, that he found this song little bit offensive. All in all he wasn't interested (or was pretending) to talking about German history. But I also remember when I've mentioned song "Mein Schließerland", he said he comes from Schließen, so he knew that song and smiled! Later that day I've played this song and some other beautiful German songs from the window through loudspeakers. And after while he came outside of his cottage with his wife and were sitting, drinking wine and listening to my music. I think he was happy to hear German songs far away from his homeland, played by non-German teenager (I was 16!) We were talking in English and sometimes in German also about everything, some jokes or funny mentions... I also remember he wasn't very hospitable and I was quietly confused, because I used to know other (Slavic) people in my life being hospitable. Although it were beautiful two days. I hope he's still living healthy and happy life. 🇸🇰🤝🇩🇪
@@dr.ludwig It's reasonable, I understand. Also our Slovak history during WW2 is controversial. But degrading cultural patriotism due to historic events is sad and not very good in long terms I think... I've heard that in Bundeswehr is few years banned Panzerlied from official military song books. It's just a song without any insults or political propaganda. It's again "this song was used in WW2. It should be banned". Even portraits of apolitical, honest and excellent commanders as was Rommel are now banned in German barracks...
It's much worse than that, our society caught the woke virus. They even discuss about beheading and destroying national monuments, because it could offend Africans.

And if you Germans say something racional against it, they will call you right-wing extremist or worse. My mind and heart is everytime with Germans like you. Racional and healthy patriotic. Hallo nach München. Ja ein imposantes Schiff. Nur waren diese Schiffe damals schon nicht mehr Zeitgemäß. Mal abgesehen von zu wenig oder nicht vorhandenen Geleitschutz verfügten die Bismarck und die Tirpitz nur über ein fehlkonstruiertes Flugabwehrsystem. Die Flak der Schiffe konnte nicht tief genug schwenken und daher waren sie tief anfliegenden britischen Flugzeugen ( Torpedoflugzeugen ) schutzlos ausgeliefert. Ich denke um Landziele zu bekämpfen oder sturmreif zu schießen ( So wie es die Amerikaner in der Normandie getan haben ) wären diese Schiffe besser geeignet gewesen als bei einer Auseinandersetzung auf offener See. Da waren die Briten haushoch überlegen. Grüße nach München. ☕️☕️☕️🙂@@t.k.3349
