Dashcam video captured the moment a little girl fell from the back of a moving church bus. Ryan Ciampoli was driving behind the vehicle when its rear door swung open with a 4-year-old clinging to the handle. The child tried to hold on but crumpled to the ground, where she laid blocking traffic. Ciampoli slammed to a stop and ran to the child, his training as an EMT immediately kicking in. He bent over her and was thankful to see she was moving. #InsideEdition

The criticism was in regards to the safety of the child. What if the child had a broken neck for instance? So the criticisms were somewhat justified.

I know this is an old video, but the people criticizing him should be ashamed. Not even thirty miles from my home, in less than a year and a half, two separate incidents have resulted in two healthcare workers being struck and killed while trying to help accident victims.
The first was a nurse who just happened to come across an accident involving a truck and a tractor. She and her husband stopped to help and she was hit by a car while trying to help the man that had been on the tractor. She was on the edge of a 4 lane highway and was trying to avoid moving him and causing further injury. He miraculously survived but has had several surgeries, alot of ongoing physical therapy and struggles with guilt because he survived and she didn't.
The other was an EMT that was helping a motorcyclist that had been involved in a crash with a car on a different 4 lane highway. She was struck by an elderly lady that said the lights from the police cars and ambulances distracted her for a moment. Both the EMT and the motorcyclist were killed instantly.
Sometimes it's better to risk it and move the patient to a safer place, for everyone's sake. There's too many people driving distracted and on or near a highway just isn't a safe place for anyone to be.
That is what you call an absolute miracle. An EMT driving right behind and able to save her.

I used to be an EMT. The first thing you learn is BSI scene safety. If you assess the scene and it’s not safe you don’t act until it’s safe. In this case the only way to make the scene safe was to move the child. He is literally doing what his training has told him. So glad he was there at that moment.
Somebody on this here internet has some actual sense. That is exactly the training. If the child is safe, leave her but supervise her. If the child is unsafe, move her. People need to hush about what they don’t know.

I'm a little late, but him being an EMT , I'm sure he was looking for breathing, pulse, and getting her out of the Highway. I think he did a fantastic job. If it weren't for the EMT, it looked like it was only going to be a worse situation. Thank you for saving this precious child💕

This EMT is exactly right. You CAN indeed move a victim/patient/client if there is imminent danger to you or the injured person. An open road with traffic moving in both directions is not the best place to treat for injury. God was with this child and her rescuer. Bravo to this EMT!!!

Because generally, you're not supposed to move an injured person due to putting more risk if they have a hidden (or obvious) spine/head injury. Dumbasses never paid attention to the second part of that statement in school, then. It literally says that if the situation is unsafe, only then should you attempt to move them. This man did the right thing.

Driver was the only adult taking children to/from church.
Girl went to the rear exit door, pulled the latch, opened it and fell out.
Driver was alerted by other children.
Driver pulled over up the road.
Driver stayed with the bus/other children, but phoned emergency services.
Girl suffered a broken jaw and required surgery.
He did the absolutely right thing. First of all, he's a certified EMT and firefighter, so I'm sure he knows the procedure better than most people. He accessed the situation, looked at her and decided to was the right move to pick her up ESPECIALLY considering they were in the middle of the road where there was ongoing traffic. Safety is Paramount in this situation not only for the little girl but for him and his girlfriend. This guy is a hero even though any decent human being would've done the same thing.

The other kids on the bus all started shouting at the same time and the pastor, who was driving, couldn't make sense of what they were saying for a minute until one of them told him he needed to pull over. The children were all still screaming at the same time and he couldn't figure out what happened. When a passing driver calmly told him what had happened, he turned the vehicle around and returned to the scene.

As far as I'm concerned, the man is a hero. Even as an ordinary citizen, I would have done the same thing. I know not to move someone after they have suffered trauma like that but as he said, in a situation where it involves moving vehicles all around u, things can happen. So I would get them to a safe spot. People can say what they want about this man but as far as I'm concerned, he did the right thing. My hats off to u sir. God bless and thank u for your services!
Thank God he wasn't driving fast and paying attention. It's even a miracle that of all people, an actual ENT just so happened that be at d right place at d right time. Got her help right away. That's a miracle in itself 💝

She sure was lucky an EMT was behind that bus and that he was paying attention and not on the phone like most while driving. Let that be a lesson parents watch your kids. Bus kept going they had no clue.
