Just curios if you can you relate to any of these? And are there any other struggles you guys are having that I didn't touch on?
I can totally relate to all of the struggles. 🙈 At the moment struggle #5 is my main one.
One struggle I have regularly is that I‘m not sure if I should switch to english. How did you decide to go with english and not your native language?
And I‘m interested in so many different topics that I want to start a new channel every month. 🤦♂️

As a content creator with a small channel, I do struggle with making content consistently. Mainly because I do work full time outside of the world of cameras and filmmaking. I have tons of products I've acquired to make reviews for. However, my full time job makes it hard to put out videos on a regular basis. At the end of a work day, I often want to just rest and watch movies, play games, or hang with friends.
Recently, I've decided that I can widen the scope of my content beyond cameras and gear reviews. The name of my channel is, All Things Film. Which lends itself to many aspects of film and filmmaking. So, I will be adding occasional film reviews and pre-production videos to my content. By doing such, I can make content fun to create and hopefully others will come along for the ride.
When I see that I get a new subscriber, it does feel good. But, I've never chased the need to get new subscribers to the point where it frustrates me. Thanks for your channel. You always entertain and inform with your videos.
Man this was so good! I completely agree that if you really want to make RUclips work you’ll find the time in the margins of life. I have two young kids and I still find about 10 hours a week to work on my channel. Just hoping it pays off over time haha!
thank you for watching and happy that I can help a little 😊 I obv can't say to certain that it will work out, but it took me 5 years of continuous uploads to manage to create an income out of this and make it my fulltime job. For some it can go quicker, I just think you need to keep at it, get better with each video and know your niche inside out.
Forget about anything else
I don’t know how you can keep it going whilst having a family
That’s my biggest obstacle that I cannot or won’t sacrifice
Loved how you kept pushing the A6xxx bodies content whilst everyone and their moms opted for the new generation full frame cameras (me included) 😂

I've been wanting to make a channel about Cameras/photography too but I have always felt that I am not pro enough for it because it is just my hobby.
I mean if you want to do it then I would go for it. I get your feeling I've thought the same. But you can 100% find an angle. Maybe you can't teach the pros but two things. You can document your journey and know that you always know something more then someone else. So imo you can always help someone 😊

Huge fan @thaticelandicguy - Any advice on Sony cameras for long-duration video recording? I fully understand most video projects are compilations of short video recordings, b-roll, etc. however I am needing to invest in a reliable camera to film one-hour long DJ set videos. Perhaps it'll give you an idea for some content: recording lengths balanced with over-heating issues, etc. Keep creating. 🎶🎵

Thanks for sharing this. It's not easy to be making content. For me the biggest struggle is making money. I review tech and most of the products I buy myself. Sadly the channel is still too small for a big companies to send me stuff. But I also take this as an advantage as I can share my honest opinion about the product.
Yea I get the struggle, just keep at it and don’t stop. It can be tough and especially like you in your niche has to buy the stuff yourself. But there’s really no way around it 😅

It really is, but it's not impossible, if I can do it then you can. It can take time though, i'm more then 7 years in lol, but just try to get better everytime, and really make sure that you know for who you are creating for (what niche)
It's always awesome to see a full video of you going about multiple topics :D there was so much in this video on which I wanted to comment about, but the most important one is that it's very natural to cringe from old content, but I still loved when you introduced yourself in every video... I saw the introduction like a hundrents times, but I can neither remember you name nor pronounce it 😂😂 still love it until today though!
Two things that I value in enhancing your content over time are having fun in the learning process to be a better entertainer. You can always be a bit more dramatic or charismatic and if you go slow and go step by step, you can actually have quite some fun growing your own character with it.
And Secondly, enjoying the interaction with your community. Make videos about questions that you would actually enjoy talking about when someone random would ask you. This is not always possible and you need to bend yourself a bit on some topics to sell your soul to the search algorithm sometimes, but if people are actually having fun interacting with you, then your skill is universally usable on all platforms and your content is not limited to RUclips.

@@thaticelandicguy To be honest? A video about something in your life, like for example food that you enjoy that is local to the country you live in or some snacks that you miss from Iceland. Or a video about places that you would like to revisit because they are absolutely gorgeous. 😊

A niche within a niche or too generalised? A great thought to think through.... So you could split into 2 channels: That Icelandic Guy does landscape, and, That Icelandic guy takes portraits... Maybe? Nah - love your work as it is!

Great video :) But why are «all» creators I follow either former magicians or body builders, it’s a really weird thing, maybe it’s an algorithm quirk YT only showing me videos from creators with that background … maybe there’s an untapped niche there, content for body building magicians …
😂 that’s a niche lol. Btw thanks for watching! And yea powerlifting was my jam for years, competed in Iceland open and was in love with the sport. I think everyone who’s been dedicated to any form of strength training. Whether it’s fitness, bodybuilding or strength knows the importance of repetitions. And how long time it takes to build something.
@@thaticelandicguy Yeah once you start seeing the results over time from the grind it carries over to other things, it’s the same with skateboarding, which I started with back in the 80s, hours and hours of trying the same trick gets you results, and it’s the only thing that gets results - valuable lessons :)

This is really what I needed on my current YT journey. You hit all points I struggle with until today. Yesterday somehow I passed the 500 sub mark and it is because of my latest video about the Nikon Zf. Only problem for me is now, I don't really know why more people then usual are clicking and watching my video and even are super engaged in the comments. I only do an unboxing and share my thoughts. That's it - super boring editing and since I'm at the beginning of YT my camera presence is also super boring + English is my 3rd language, therefore also not as smooth as it should be 😆
I'm now try not to put too much pressure on myself for the next video but still want to figure out, what is working. I'm riding right now the Nikon Zf trend, yes, but still, there are so much more better videos + thumbnails out there.

Regarding the family part, yes this is also hard. I wait until my both daughters (2,5y and 0,5y) go to bed, including my wife, before setting everything up and record. Otherwise I can't record right now (mental blockage :D).
But the most heart breaking family vs YT story is for me still the story of your friend Peter Lindgren, when his son Alex was born in 2019(?).
Leaving the hospital after Alex was born on the same day to record YT videos ... so much respect to Peter!

My parents are from Vietnam and therefore I speak mediocre Vietnamese. Since I was born and raised in Germany, I’m fluent in German. And English was mandatory to learn in school 🙃
