      Thanks for camera review.
      I have Xperia 1V and wanna to say that i`m disappointed buy telephoto lense image quality. Image with blurry detais and oversharpened too. Shots taken from main camera are good, but.., they are too much oversharpened, they don`t look like photo taken buy even cheap SLR camera, because photos are looking flat.
      Buy the way, i had old but the greatest cameraphone ever The Nokia 808 Pureview and 808 pw showed me similary photo qualiti like i saw in DSLR cameras, because the photos not looken Flat like on all Xperia cameras. That was real photography, adn i don`t see similar even in 2024 Xperia flagship camera.
      In mobile photography forums, Chinese smartphone owners are laughting when some posts photos taken by Xperia, because thay say that photos are too much oversharpened and photos taken buy telephoto looks horrible like they taken buy digital zoom of Huawei camera 5 years ago. Their photos taken with Xiaomi Vivo or Oppo looking really good, and i`m angry that SONY puts in their flagships not new and not good sensors.

    I am looking to buy a phone for photography (the best camera is the one you have with you) and I favor natural, accurate colors and unprocessed looks. I take a lot of pictures of my dog and I tend to dislike what phone picture processing does to her fur. But sometimes focusing on her fur (especially when she moves) is challenging for cameras.
    I also favor color accuracy in night photography, and I prefer if the picture is darker rather than unrealistically brightened so that the night mood is properly captured.
    Which one would you recommend? Xperia 1 VI, Pixel 9 Pro, one of the Samsung S24 line or iPhone 16 Pro/Max?

    How is it at capturing moving objects, running kids or at sport? After xperia M4 I trully miss, that you could hold finger on the the screen and in instant moment of release it captured the photo flawlesly.
    Huawei P30 Pro was amazing also, but now with Xiaomi 13 is dissaster. So I'm between Huawei Pura 70 Ultra and Xperia 1 VI. Just because I like to shoot at sporting events or moving people.

  • @aratafreecs3445
    @aratafreecs3445 5 месяцев назад +12

    I got this for myself. I wasn't even that interested in the cameras, but my favorite features were the excellent headphone jack, expandable storage, and incredible battery life.
    Headphone jack, so I don't need to take my Bluetooth DAC/Amp with me when I want to listen to music. Expandable storage because I like having the edited copies of my images locally, as well as backed up in a cloud service. Those 60MP images fill up the internal storage of most phones rather quickly.
    After testing it out, as long as there is good enough light, this phone takes away the need for me to carry my 16 and 20mm primes everywhere. I know the main camera is 24, not 20mm, but it's close enough.
    I have some minor gripes, but all in all, this is the best phone I've had yet.

    • @thaticelandicguy
      @thaticelandicguy  5 месяцев назад +2

      Agreed! Btw I’m in close contact with Sony, what’s your gripes? Every year they ask me what I think they can do better with the next generation, idk if they ever listen but at least I try to voice what I think and what I see the community want to see better. So if you have any ill happily share them with Sony next time they ask :)

      @thaticelandicguy Mostly ergonomics that I'm maybe just not used to, yet. I prefer my back button on the other side and didn't find a way to change it. The gestures are a bit exaggerated. Wish I wouldn't need to move my finger over what feels like half the screen. I definitely preferred my in-screen fingerprint sensor ergonomically, but the Xperia's is way more reliable, so I'm taking that trade-off and will get used to it. I have to REALLY slow down to get sharp shots out of the telephoto consistently. Of course, I didn't think it'd be as reliable as a full frame camera with IBIS and a fast, sharp prime, but it could be a bit quicker to acquire focus and stabilize better. It's very easy to shake a small device such a phone too much, though, so this might be in part user error. When it's sharp, I'm quite impressed by the quality for a smartphone.
      Any other kinks I really just have to identify over the next week or so. Have only had it for a couple of days now.

      I can summarize, without owning any of them:
      The Xiaomi would win in toe to toe sensor tests, it has better sensors. However it uses Xiaomi's software and camera app which reek of Chinese design and bugs (if you know you know) and it probably has a lot of weird feature names and very dumbed down UI for your average Joe. Sony goes the opposite way in that and their software is very light, although sometimes buggy too.
      Sony wins in things that actually matter for professionals, like burst mode speed, 4k 120 HDR recording, the ported S-cinetone color profile, physical zoom range on the telephoto (and a much longer one at that than the Xiaomi), macro mode ON the telephoto (much more likeable than on the ultrawide in my opinion, gives you compression instead of a wider angle), more faithful and true to life processing and colors, crazy good and unmatched tracking technology.
      14 Ultra wins in pretty much everything else including ease of use (unless you already know how cameras work), it destroys the Sony in low light from all angles, colors can be a bit artificial and warm like most smartphones but that's greatly improved from previous generations.
      What this comes down to is your needs, the Xiaomi just has the better sensors so if you're a low light photographer go get that, no questions asked. If you want that photographer respect from a smartphone, a physical shutter button and capabilities like the 30fps burst mode or 4k 120fps HDR on all sensors, go Sony, but just remember that its sensors and resolution are worse.

      Do not replace your camera with a smartphone, you'll regret it no matter how much more versatile it looks. You'll limit yourself in resolution, lack of quality glass lenses and of course you'll be trading a bigger sensor for tiny ones (this phone's primary sensor is really good but the telephoto and ultrawide ones have been around since the xperia II line, they're pretty outdated and small, lots of struggle against noise there).
      Get the phone as a b camera, I use my 5 III like one and it's great as that.
      Edit: saying this as an a7III user as well. You have a modern generation full frame, switching to a smartphone as your main (one that doesn't have a 1-incher or lots of AI tampering at that) will feel like devolving.

      honestly then it comes down to your budget, at this point phones are so good that the new devices are just a slight upgrade. You see this across the board with all phone manufactures. Imo then I'd probably use the phone for 2-3 years then upgrade, that way you'll really feel the difference and there's been some cool upgrades made. But thats my thinking.

    This phone was the biggest let down for me and I immediately went back to a Mi 10t pro. vi in lowlight is awful. Compression encoding is meh. Sony flagship with such low resolution telephoto and ultra wide is wild. Ultra wide isn't very ultra weigher. Seems Sony banked more on their name than actually flexing what they can do. That is, if they're capable of doing it.

    well on street photography stealth is not really the key. Sure you can hide better, but once spotted you look like a creep. Now if you have something like 907x system, something that far from being stealthy, screams "hey look at me", in the same exact situation, will make people thik you are a professional looking for a nice composition.

    Smartphones are awful for street photography. They are very evident, in your face, NO ONE would like someone pointing their cell at them and you can't use it from the hip. If anyone is taking a "photo" with a cell the other would definitely feel as a privacy invasion. On the other hand, one with a "regular" camera can pass as a hobby, taking photo of the panorama, the buildings, etc etc
