I am looking to buy a phone for photography (the best camera is the one you have with you) and I favor natural, accurate colors and unprocessed looks. I take a lot of pictures of my dog and I tend to dislike what phone picture processing does to her fur. But sometimes focusing on her fur (especially when she moves) is challenging for cameras. I also favor color accuracy in night photography, and I prefer if the picture is darker rather than unrealistically brightened so that the night mood is properly captured. Which one would you recommend? Xperia 1 VI, Pixel 9 Pro, one of the Samsung S24 line or iPhone 16 Pro/Max?
Can you please do low light photography (also portrait) on all lens and share your opinion? I tried 1 iii sometime back and ultrawide and zoom lens were unusable to capture my kids in low light.
It's not great for a quick snap but get a fairly good light source on your subject and it's surprisingly good at 85 mm in low light I watched both this video and yours back to back . I'll be keeping my Xperia 1 V unless there is a substantial black Friday price drop or the Xperia Pro C turns out to be an actual thing .
Basically barely any tele in smartphone at low light, it's the product of darker F value, needing slower shutter speed to get. Bit more light, and how much harder stabilizing tele lens in the first place
@@MuhammadKharismawan Thats not true anymore. Look at Oppo, Vivo, Huawei, Honor. Large sensors with relatively big apertures. All bigger sensors by far than what Sony offers.
I'm surprised they didn't do that. Especially since they advertise the phone as an "almost" professional camera. Samsung S9 has that feature in 2018. Plus larger main sensor (1 inch or more).

How is it at capturing moving objects, running kids or at sport? Huawei P30 Pro was amazing also, but now with Xiaomi 13 is dissaster. So I'm between Huawei Pura 70 Ultra and Xperia 1 VI. Just because I like to shoot at sporting events or moving people.
I got this for myself. I wasn't even that interested in the cameras, but my favorite features were the excellent headphone jack, expandable storage, and incredible battery life. Headphone jack, so I don't need to take my Bluetooth DAC/Amp with me when I want to listen to music. Expandable storage because I like having the edited copies of my images locally, as well as backed up in a cloud service. Those 60MP images fill up the internal storage of most phones rather quickly. After testing it out, as long as there is good enough light, this phone takes away the need for me to carry my 16 and 20mm primes everywhere. I know the main camera is 24, not 20mm, but it's close enough. I have some minor gripes, but all in all, this is the best phone I've had yet.
Agreed! Btw I’m in close contact with Sony, what’s your gripes? @thaticelandicguy Mostly ergonomics that I'm maybe just not used to, yet. I prefer my back button on the other side and didn't find a way to change it. The gestures are a bit exaggerated. Wish I wouldn't need to move my finger over what feels like half the screen. I definitely preferred my in-screen fingerprint sensor ergonomically, but the Xperia's is way more reliable, so I'm taking that trade-off and will get used to it. I have to REALLY slow down to get sharp shots out of the telephoto consistently. Of course, I didn't think it'd be as reliable as a full frame camera with IBIS and a fast, sharp prime, but it could be a bit quicker to acquire focus and stabilize better. It's very easy to shake a small device such a phone too much, though, so this might be in part user error. When it's sharp, I'm quite impressed by the quality for a smartphone. Any other kinks I really just have to identify over the next week or so. Have only had it for a couple of days now.

I loved the camera app in Xperia, though I didn't have the phone. I thought if a 1 VI will be released I am going to switch from iPhone, but then appeared they changed the camera app like it's made for begginers. That was really stylish one in previous generation, the black-orange shutterspeed area was (to be honest) one of the main factors I'd buy Sony Xperia.. And now it's gone for just "black&white letters" you can scroll though like. There is *no soul* in the pro app - in short - as it was in previous generations.

honestly then it comes down to your budget, at this point phones are so good that the new devices are just a slight upgrade. You see this across the board with all phone manufactures. Imo then I'd probably use the phone for 2-3 years then upgrade, that way you'll really feel the difference and there's been some cool upgrades made. But thats my thinking.

This phone was the biggest let down for me and I immediately went back to a Mi 10t pro. vi in lowlight is awful. Compression encoding is meh. Sony flagship with such low resolution telephoto and ultra wide is wild. Ultra wide isn't very ultra weigher. Seems Sony banked more on their name than actually flexing what they can do. That is, if they're capable of doing it.
Although it's not available in the US, I was considering purchasing this phone. And getting it online costs almost $2,000 so it's not worth it rn I may, however, wait for the Sony Xperia Pro C to see how it looks because it's an improvement from the pro I already own. If it's not released in the US then yeah definitely have to pay money get it around release date
well on street photography stealth is not really the key. Sure you can hide better, but once spotted you look like a creep. Now if you have something like 907x system, something that far from being stealthy, screams "hey look at me", in the same exact situation, will make people thik you are a professional looking for a nice composition.
3:35 gonna love the Swedes. if you do this in Germany, the germans will shout at you "why are you taking my phone, what are your intentions, I'll call the Polizei!"
Smartphones are awful for street photography. They are very evident, in your face, NO ONE would like someone pointing their cell at them and you can't use it from the hip. If anyone is taking a "photo" with a cell the other would definitely feel as a privacy invasion. On the other hand, one with a "regular" camera can pass as a hobby, taking photo of the panorama, the buildings, etc etc

@@henrikw377 ah seems like I answered the wrong question lol, I think it does a pretty decent job, haven't given it a lot of thought though tbh
How does Sony compare to these phones, iPhone, Samsung, Google?
Hi! Why does the xperia 1 VI screen flicker and blink like this, doesn't it hurt the eyes or have a bad effect? I like the xperia 1 VI and want to buy it, but I don't know how its screen affects the eyes, my iphone 14 pro max doesn't flicker that much. The photos seem good to be on the xperia 1 VI. Thank you!
Lol it doenst flicker like this IRL, it's just because of the shutter speed my action camera is filming in :) Hope that makes sense.
so when the action camera records the screen it results in flickering
@@thaticelandicguy Thank you! I live in Estonia and we have Sony xperia 1 V 1299 eur and it comes with Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition and xperia 1 VI 1399 eur and it comes with Sony WH-1000XM5. I had a xperia 1 V and I changed it to a Galaxy s24 ultra, but I'm not at all satisfied with this phone, I don't like the color gamma of the galaxy either on the camera or on the screen, and it's too fake for me, even if I set the color gamma to Normal, and this phone has all kinds of other camera bugs and it's constantly hot and i regret switching i really like xperia. So I want a lot of different information about the new Xperia 1 VI, because it can be bought in Estonia from June 10 and I really like Xperia.
Could you go to Hella/Rangárbakkar and try to use the phone to record videos of the horses that are being shown on the competition/breeding assessments... I'd love seeing how the Sony manages to cature rapid movements like horses running..
And dont do anything about editing the videos before uploading
When i shot in Pro mode, can i change everything afterwards on my pc, or do i have to set it up before taking the photo.? sorry for the dumb question
no question is dumb, the settings you use will be in camera, but you an edit the phot afterwards :)
possible to save Raws in auto-mode, too?
i think what could be intresting is to compare older phones for street photography like the lg g4 as that was a beast back in the day
Still have eye focus?
What is the name of the image editing software you use in your calculator?
Not interested in the phone but I quite like your photos. Subscribed. Cheers from Thailand.
1 question
does sony update the camera software for older model like mark 4 and mark 5?
It's lovely
☺️
Is it worth though to switch it from v to vi? I think with the vi price i will stick to v and its great phone and wait to see what's unboxing next year
honestly then it comes down to your budget, at this point phones are so good that the new devices are just a slight upgrade. You see this across the board with all phone manufactures. Imo then I'd probably use the phone for 2-3 years then upgrade, that way you'll really feel the difference and there's been some cool upgrades made. But thats my thinking.
@@thaticelandicguy Spot on advice.
@@thaticelandicguyNah. I think your opinion pretty make sense to me. Great video btw.
Can you try and review of creative looks ?
I don't really use them because I like to edit my photos myself, but they are cool for those who like.
which city are u at? looks nice to travel to
Stockholm
I love the camera on this phone!
Thanks for the video. I definitely would’ve bought this phone if they had not of removed. The pro apps also would like them to keep the 21 x 9 aspect ratio.
that decisiion was quite weird. me and my friend Olle pushed back on that a lot and we're getting the video pro app again at least :)
I hope they bring the old manual mode back 😢
I’ve already pre-ordered mine!
hope you'll like it!
I just ordered mine yesterday I'm in Australia . looking forward to it. I've been rocking the original Xperia 1 since 2019 so this should be a nice upgrade.
Are you located in Europe? Canada here no hope 😢
@@phatthesaigonese7947 I’m in the UK and it’s a shame that Sony decided not to release in your country 😟
@@SeanMarkey-o3z Sony withdrew their phone business off of North America market for a few years now. What a shame. I can only buy their phone thru some third party stores. Really hope they'll go back. Europe is a fantastic market where we can literally find all brand names there, including Huawei. No Huawei phones in Canada neither.
I wonder why Sony got rid of 21:9 4K OLED display.
Is that a loaner phone from Sony?
What abou videoquality?
What is the name of the image editing software you use in your calculator?
beautiful Photos
Can you compare this phone with xiaomi 14 ultra?
It’s a good phone and camera but it’s not as good as the pro-i . Let me know when the pro-ii is out
How is it compared to S22 ultra
The photos are more natural realistic and less high contrast with vibrant colors like Samsung does...
10:33 if the shot was mine, im turning it remove people at the background and have victorian lady. hahahaha that flower and tree and the sun such a vibe!
All other reviews and samples look grainy and unnatural. But your shots always have the best color and smoothness! Do you think this is achievable with other flagships with 1-inch type sensors? Or is this really where Sony excels?
mines coming in a few hours
I'm happy for you!
@@thaticelandicguy i’m in the middle of watching your video but yeah, I had the previous Xperia and it was my favorite phone last year and I’m using a Sony A6700
@@tyre536 great combo! :)
@@thaticelandicguy do you stick with the Sony phones? or do you go back to other phones after you’ve reviewed them and tested them out I’ve just recently found your channel
@@tyre536 i use my Xperia, I’m a Sony photographer and video creator and the phone goes well with the Sony lineup, and I really like the photos it captures (plus I get it for free 😂)
I still think the telephoto camera is very soft. I would prefer to have no optical zoom and a good camera i can rely on. The technology is awesome but i think it's just not ready
would love try it but looking at peoples videos with screen flickering aka PWM it looks horrendous, even worse than samsung, and i’m affected by PWM quite easily. So will have to skip it.
The flickering isn’t in real life though, it’s just because of the action camera and the shutter speed it is filmed in.
Hello, vlog camera sensor name?
leider hast du nicht gezeigt wie du die fotos vom sony handy auf dem macbook übertragen mit einem iphone einfach airdrop aber mit einem sony handy ???
if you have mac then you need to have android file transfer, its' a 3rd party app
Nice review
Miss you my viking ginger
Miss you too brother ❤️
are you able to switch to all lenses while recording a video? even the selfie lens. it would be amazing for social media. even if its only available in 1080p
It's a very beautiful phone that takes a lot of good pictures but i dislike the prices €1300 or €1200 is a lot of money for a phone.
Nice 📸📷
thanks!
next one the telelens should be a 48mp sensor. 100%
is a smartphone good enough for street photography? 🤔
In the right hand yeah for most situations. If you cant get decent photos on a phone nowadays then not even a camera will save you. You need to learn. Atleast thats my opinion
Brother does the 16mm on this phone was the same to the 16mm Sony full frame camera?
Please review the video quality. Some of the YTers made some selfie videos snd honestly, the videos looked bad. Please review this.
if the pricetag just wasn't as crazy
Xiaomi 14 Ultra please
i love sony
Love your videoes 💪 maybe i should give sony a chance? Respect to you from Denmark.
Just hype
This phone was the biggest let down for me and I immediately went back to a Mi 10t pro. vi in lowlight is awful. Compression encoding is meh. Sony flagship with such low resolution telephoto and ultra wide is wild. Ultra wide isn't very ultra weigher. Seems Sony banked more on their name than actually flexing what they can do. That is, if they're capable of doing it.
sony literally provided the phone early for testing and reviewing. thats kind of a sponsorship :D great video tho, thanks. greetings from germany
Although it's not available in the US, I was considering purchasing this phone. And getting it online costs almost $2,000 so it's not worth it rn
I may, however, wait for the Sony Xperia Pro C to see how it looks because it's an improvement from the pro I already own.
😂 guess I’m not going to Germany to photograph people on the streets
@@thaticelandicguy i'm really impressed by the night shots btw, the artificial lens flare drives me crazy on my 1V
No useful face unlock on this device ?
❤❤❤
Stockholm and Sunny not ur favorite type of weather:p?
