so useful. I had never seen this subject covered ! I've stopped dancing at a pre-pro level for 7 years now and I still hear the clicking sound when I do movements "en dehors" sometimes. I thought I had injured myself forever. I'm glad you made this.
Now it all makes sense. Been training splits for 3 months and the moment i started doing the actual splits motion and putting major stress on my muscles - i started experiencing clicking.
It is a bit of an imbalance between strength and flexibility. There is an extent of it that can’t be fixed but most of it can. It happens to me as well if I just forget to align my hips and engage my core. Did these tips work for you ? ☺️
@@stretchandtrain hi, thank You for your videos they are great and super helpful 🙏🏻❤ I also noticed that when I'm letting my leg just go, without concentrating on engaging the core and leg muscles the clicking always appears, but with engaging the muscles it happens only like 20% of the time... so it is ok, when it's happening like this? Bc I practice yoga and do those exercises from your video and I was just actually wondering if those help me ☺
I recently came across your channel and your videos and they have been extremely beneficial to me, highly appreciate! I've done Martial Arts and Tricking for over 2 decades and I've been getting really sore hips of lately and painful sciatica in one leg and it seems I may have somewhat of a twisted pelvis. A lot of the exercises in this vid and others on your channel have really helped a lot! and I love that you talk about the Anatomy in detail. I did a stretch therapy teacher course under Kit Laughlin a few years ago and I could imagine he would love this channel! :)
What a great video and I LOVE how you break down the movements, what to look/listen/feel for & anatomy! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you! PS: how often should this be done?
Okay never mind, I just watched another video of yours (Tips on how to do the splits) and you explained how often to stretch. ~ no more than 4 days a week for any particular muscle. 😘
At my dancing rehearsal for a musical, my right hip clicked with a sharp pain. Did some stretching and went back to the rehearsal. Been sore since then for the last two days. Can move and still clicking. Can do all the exercises without problem. But still clicking and wondering if it's just a flairup of my fibromyalgia. The clicking is when I extend legs 45° angel moving them from sides pointing and back (last exercise). Left clicks as well without pain.
I have L4 impingement (was a hernia before, now its much better) and my left leg usually clicks once when doing skier's lunges. The click lasts one time and is not present if i then repeat the movement. On the other side, my right hip snaps internally when lying down i bring my right knee to my chest on the way up at about 45 degrees click. This one happens 100% of the time and is lessened by keeping the knee bent (6:54 fixes it). I cannot get rid of it with any exercise.
I feel the clicking in the outside of my hip when I do all of these exercises. Are they still beneficial for snapping hip on the outside of the hip? Do you have any videos speaking specifically about this?
iam a rhythmic gymnast and my hips keep clicking especially after getting up from oversplits but it is not painful but i hear to many clicks in my hips in the same time what does it mean ?
The answer to thin question can be very many things and I would need to assess you myself to be able to give you a correct answer. Clicking comes with mobility and we will never fully get rid of it. It is not always a bad thing. If you don't feel any pain it is probably not dangerous. However, it is always good to see a physio and get all questions answered so we can prevent things before they happen :) All the best with Gymnastics :)
I had a cruciate ligament tear and had to get surgery on my knee. It's almost been a year and a couple months ago the clicking started. I couldn't find anything helpful related to this topic in association with the knee surgery. I thought I did something terribly wrong during recovery and messed my body up for good.. Having clicking hips at 24, especially during *certain* movements really made me feel insecure. So thanks for the video and the included explanation of why this happens. I'm gonna start incorporating these exercises into my working out routine from now on! ✨Nice side effect will probably be shredded abs cause damn.. these exercises are no joke on the rather untrained abdomen 😂
I have clicking on my right hip the part where the femur attaches to the hip but I also get a cracking sound on my lower back it seems to happen every time I get up from a chair or when I'm standing and I move to a different direction I feel a cracking sound almost like if I crack my back but I didn't and it's always on my lower back I feel like it's the part where my hip bone connects to my spine will these exercises also treat the cracking on my lower back? I have to mention I also have osteoporosis are these exercises safe for people with osteoporosis?
Let me guess you were stretching your hip flexors but it only made things worse is that right? Snapping hip is caused by weak and over lengthen psoas muscle so it's gonna also transfer to the low back problems. I guess your tightness is on the sides because if psoas is inactive QL creating lots of spasm in order to provide stability to pelvis.
@@szyszak9424 I have tried to stretch I don't know if stretching made it worse but I've noticed that that snapping cracking sound from my lower back happens more often now every time I get up from a chair but that's the only time it cracks, I don't feel my hips where the femur bone connects to the hip bone pop or crack unless I'm doing floor exercises laying on my back lifting my legs that's the only time I hear it and feel it in the hip area other than that it's only on the lower back at least that's what it feels like but it seems like it's coming from somewhere else but it feels like it's coming from the lower back that's interesting, I'm not even sure how those muscles got weak in the first place, I'm hoping to see a physical therapist I've been watching RUclips videos how to fix that popping snapping but it's a little confusing I only hope it's not something serious it's going to really harm me later down the line
@@SayyedAsad that was a while ago but I did see a physical therapist but what ended up happening was I got really badly injured with quadriceps tendonitis that was the main reason I ended up seeing the physical therapist for but I did mention the snapping hip, the physical therapist said that that's not that big of an issue he wanted to more focus on healing the quadriceps injuries but I have noticed that that popping sound that used to happen when I would get up from a chair it's not really happening anymore I wonder if it was a lack of nutrition because since I was diagnosed with osteoporosis I started eating more nutrient dense foods eating healthy fats increased my calories so I haven't been getting popping sounds in my lower back I still get a pop when I do floor exercises lifting my leg but it's not as bad, I also used to get these weird pains in my ribs those pains went away since I started eating more nutrient dense foods, maybe all that stuff was a sign of malnourishment? But now I've been having pain in my upper back around the area where my scapulas are located but I think that might be more due to weak muscles, maybe popping cracking bones can also be a sign of malnourishment because it's gotten better for me but I'm still keeping an eye on everything osteoporosis is no joke
So the solution for this problem is to keep the circles smaller and then go wider? 😔 my hips are annoying me while stretching... There is no pain but the sound is so loud With core engaged ofc.
hi :) This is not something you can do to fix this problem overnight. These techniques are something you can proactive on regular basis to improve and lessen the clicking in your hips :) There is not magic in this world. Just work and time put into things ;)

Those hip circles look so effortless
Omg I thought that was supposed to happen. Like naturally 🤷♀️
It is very normal and happens to a lot of people. It is something most people will not need to work on unless they do dancing or gymnastics :)
same lol

So is the cause a weak core ?..because that explains why no clicking when I contract my abs but clicking comes back when I relax.
I have been working on my middle splits and now my hips click all the time. So, this is good to know!

Thank you for this! I notice that I have it mainly with one leg and really squeezing my abs works well!
Physiologically, how does the increased strength eliminate the clicking?
Teaches the body how to hold the lengthening( stretched position) Allows the body to be more comfortable in the ranges
