When Wilt was ASKED to change his game he DID, example: Alex Hanemn Asked Wilt to pass and not take as many shots, Wilt passed and Led the League in assists doing so. Only non-guard to do that.
The only bad wilt did in game 7 was his freethrows.
21pts .625fg% 4 Assists 24 rebounds. Still an outstanding performance. Fg% Up rebounds up compared to 69'-70' 12-game season he played.
Wilt would have Destroyed hakeem no doubt.
An Old Injured Wilt Held his own Against a young Prime Jabaar. Wilt Outrebounded and defensively held Jabaar to 46fg%, down from 56%.
A Old Kareem outperformed a young Hakeem.
Head to head matchups, K60fg% to H51% K22pts to H22pts, K6.7 rebounds to H11.5. Also Kareem played 5 less minutes than hakeem.
You would have to be insane to say that Wilt couldn't outperform hakeem. Wilt by the way was the most athletic center ever, he had it all strenght, stamina, speed, Vertical.

Ulysses432 look at the Rockets lack of talent from the players and low basketball IQ from the coaches from 88'-93'! You realize that before Rudy T became head coach, the Rockets were trying to focus on guard play and Olajuwon was the second or third option on offense!! Look at the series against the Lakers in 91' and see how Maxwell was jacking up 56 shots at 41% and 33% from 3pt! Look at 1990 when Maxwell took 81 shots at 37% and 30% from 3pt!! Maybe if you watched the series instead of looking at the Rockets record and drawing some misinformed conclusion you would know these ridiculous questions you ask! Look at the Rockets stats when Olajuwon finally became the 1st option on offense in 93' and tell me who made their team better, Jordan or Olajuwon?! Olajuwon had his entire starting lineup avg between 13pts-16pts and Olajuwon's assists went up! Olajuwon avg a 4 for 4 that series with 23p, 13reb, 4.7a, 1.7s, 4.3 blocks a game! It took entire teams to stop Olajuwon and he didn't have a Pippen on his team to lend a hand! In 93' Jordan's first 3peat was his 3rd game 6 in a row and he scored 666 points those playoffs, then his father was mysteriously murdered!

The interesting thing is that both teams actually play into each other's weaknesses. The huge advantage the Bulls had was that backcourt. Harper and Jordan was a matchup nightmare due to how big they were and would have defensively dominated the Rockets. Throw in Scottie and Rodman, and the Bull's have the 1-4 positions on lockdown. However, Hakeem was indeed a matchup that the Bulls had no answer for. And the larger issue with Hakeem is that Bulls would have been forced to double him, leaving a bunch of good shooters open. Ultimately the Rockets didn't have the size or backcourt to deal with the Bulls. It would be an amazing matchup to be perfectly honest, but i think the Bulls would have been too much for the Rockets in the end. I'd say 6 very well fought games.

probably you are correct, but that hypothetic victory would only be possible in a match-up from 96 onwards, any fictitious duel prior to that would lack both Pippen and Harper from the Bulls core. (according to a comment I just saw around here haha -- reference: Mo Betta).

Harper didn't join the Bulls until 94-95, and even with him the Rockets backcourt depth probably would make him less effective than usual. The Bulls would've also had to worry about Cassell and Elie not just Smith and Maxwell. Plus Horry would probably have a pretty big defensive impact guarding Pippen who did a lot of the ball handling, Horry was an off ball offensive player so he was less likely to be fatigued down the stretch compared to Pippen.

Has Duncan ever been the MVP, Finals MVP, and DPOY in the same season?! Has Duncan ever recorded 200+ blocks and 200+ STEALS in the same season?! Perhaps not 20 times better, but The Dream definitely leads on both ends of the floor. He is the most skillful bigman to have graced the game of basketball. Shaq himself said the toughest and best bigman he played against was Hakeem. The G.O.A.T also stated that the best big in his eyes was The Dream and that without a shadow of a doubt he would have him in his fantasy 5.

During the rise of the Bulls and up until the end of their first 3-peat, they faced the Rockets 10 times between 89/90 and 92/93 seasons... The Rockets won 7 of those games with 5 of those wins were by double digits. The average margin of victory was 13.4 points. So it's not like the Bulls would just steamroll the Rockets. Then also keep in mind that the Bulls lost to the Magic in 95 which the Rockets swept in the Finals.
I'm not saying that the Rockets would've beaten the Bulls in the Finals, but it would've probably been the only time(s) Jordan would've needed all 7 games to seal the deal. Here's the thing. After 1993 jordan never scored 60 points in a game again. So right off the bat youre wrong. As well, in 1993 the bulls lost both times to the rockets. AS WELL jordan did play in 1995 and got swept by the magic who got swept by the rockets in the finals.
Jordan is the GOAT and the best player by far. That being said, I think the Rockets take it in 1994. Hakeem was DPOY, MVP, and eventual FMVP.
Nobody has ever had a year as good as that.

I think with either Duncan or Karl Malone you can't go wrong. Tim couldn't shoot FTs. It would've been nice to see what he would've done without the extra help. Having Parker and Ginobli made his job easier.

Hakeem was one of the best centers hands down. But the Bulls would have worn him out. It's not like he's super human. The Bulls had about 5-6 players on that roster that were 6'11" to 7'0" tall. Not to mention Pippen and Rodman who helped out on the paint.
That was one of the Bulls strengths. The ability to contain the opposing centers. They usually had 3-4. Bulls would have won in 5 or 6.

You're absolutely nuts. If Ewing & Oakley ('94) and Shaq & Horace Grant ('95) couldn't wear out Hakeem, then no way in hell could Luc Longley and those other scrubs wear him out smdh. Now I'm not saying that the Rockets would win, but they sure as hell would take the Bulls to 7 games.

@@mikeymike4402 The Knicks also had Mason and Charles Smith as the defenders at times. The big x-factor that gives the Rockets the edge overall against the Bulls the SF matchup, with Horry being an off ball offensive player Pippen is more likely to be worn down throughout the game with Horry constantly in his face.

Pippen said something I've said often, putting that team together wouldn't be the chemistry the bulls had.
Having drafted the nucleus of that team and playing under the same system with a great head coach is much more effective than throwing random great talent together and just expecting it to work.
The bulls and golden state prime examples of teams building the right way.
