I should’ve done that! Made mine solid ! To much smoke! Guess I’ll just get one from ShopSmith! My machine was built in 1956! That’s the only part I’m missing! Other than a new belt ! Cheapo belt only lasted 60 years! 😳🙄😝Nice technique Sir! 🤔😝🫡🇺🇸

@@metallantik thank you very much,the reason I ask is because I want to buy a simular lathe (It looks exactly the same) but different name.I know they must come out of the same factory in China,so thats why i asked,so to know if its worth it/special features/challenges with it and pros and cons ect. Why did you cut off the knurl that was already on the screw, just to add it back? Why did you start with a cap screw so much longer than you wanted? Why bore so deep that you then needed to cut some off the opening? Ever heard of micrometers? Measuring for a bearing fit with calipers is not a good idea. Hopefully the bearing had some thrust capacity.
