Where I work, they don't allow trucks to park overnight. I've heard many OTR drivers (I'm local and drive a day cab) complain about it and I used to kind of agree with them...but the more I got to thinking about it, I don't blame the company at all. Too many funky ass truck drivers out there leaving their trash and piss bottles laying around.

I remember the days when shippers, receivers, and shopping centers had no problems with drivers parking in their lots.

We should all try to pick up trash as we see it - but we damn sure need to wear silicone gloves. And if you see someone throwing trash, get a pic and send it to the company.
As a truck stop employee, i feel like you could get a whole epsiode just sitting up at my stop for an afternoon on a wendnesday

@babayaga6303 The traveling wasn't the issue. The issue was that I felt it wasn't worth the pay I was getting and I got an offer from a local ltl that paid hourly and much better so I ended up leaving OTR. If things continue this way way, LTL might just end up dominating the market within the next decade or two.
When I was a kid and saw a semi going down the road I was proud as my dad was one of them. Today I think about everything I see on these sites and wonder

There is "No expectation of privacy", If you are in public you can be filmed, recorded, video recorded, whatever you want to call it, no one needs your consent, permission, or approval.
No expectations of your safety either. The best part is most state's won't arrest or prosicute assault.

When I started trucking about 53 years ago, trucking use to be a respectable trade, but today it’s a whole new breed of drivers who let our one time good image and rep be destroyed, I use to be proud of of being driver, but if I was till driving I wouldn’t admit it today

Retired here too, and couldn't stand it out there today. I remember when the put in the Petro on sb99 at Wheeler Ridge just before the Grapevine. (mid to late 90's ] They posted a picture at the fuel desk of the first driver caught relieving himself on the new pavement.
Kudos to the guy cleaning up the trash and piss bottles but holy crap,use latex gloves. Any trucker who dumps stuff like that probably has bacteria everywhere

Unfortunately I work Maintenance at a local Truck Stop. I clean up after grown ups all day long. What I see on a daily basis would make a goat puke. Scary part is these same "people" are in control of an 80,000 pound truck.

I'm a retired driver, drove for 26 years and watching these clowns try to park is frustrating as hell. Just glad Grandpa ain't around for the show. Every trucking school should make every driver watch at least 50 bonehead trucker videos tales from the truck stop so that way they know and understand what NOT to do!!! And make them subscribe!!!

I actually was training a Arab youngster on a short trip and I only had 5 months experience myself. But my dad was A 50 year trucker and knew some basic trucking etiquette and have some life skills and common sense. As I came out to the fuel island, my guy was standing on top of the hood, washing the truck with a squeegee. Two guys were standing there laughing while I'm yelling to get the hell off before he slips and breaks his ass. Then he throws a bucket of bug water over the truck and most of it drenched me. Never seen 2 men laugh harder in my life. Embarrassing 😢

Not to defend Western Express but I have seen drivers they'll throw their bag of garbage out do what they need to do and then when they get out to go inside they grab their bag of garbage and dispose of it the way. So I'm not sure who's wrong

My wife does the same thing. She'll toss the trash bags out and put in new ones and makes sure we have everything then grab it on the way inside.

At iowa 80 and there are 3 trucks next to the reserved spots not parked in a spot. Just parked in the row where trucks are supposed to pull in and out like there aren't 900 spots here

When I used to park at a truck stop I would walk around my truck and pick up all of the trash around me so nobody would think I threw it out.

It’s not the trucking business itself but rather the people in it. Folks that throw their trash out by the the road or in a parking lot and pee wherever they happen to be standing are just bottom rung regardless. It wouldn’t matter if they worked in a bank or a corner drug store, nasty folks are just that, nasty folks.
I retired 20 years ago, and we had this same kind of a-hole drivers then, just not SO MANY OF THEM. No flip flops either. No foreigners who can’t speak English or read road signs. No felons with CDLs. Drivers were helpful and nice to one another. Makes me sad to see how bad it is now.
I know a trucker that works with a smoker that does this nasty shit. Too damned lazy to throw his butts in even a trashcan or even carry an ashtray with him. Hated these kinds of guys that did that crap in the military as well.
They seem to think the butts are somehow biodegradable, which they are not. Or, more than likely, simply don't give a damn.

The guy that threw a bucket of water on his truck still had the fuel hose still in the tank. I'm willing to bet he got a bunch of water in his fuel tank when he did that. It would serve him right!

THIS is why i try to avoid truckstops when i shut down for the day. Rest areas and big inconspicuous dirt lots are the best places to reset. Less likely to tear up or tear someone elses truck up. Plus those parking lots are always covered in piss. You also get the weird truckers who just sit in the driver sit for HOURS staring at you walking by lol. That last ones personal lol. Be safe out there guys
Ya'll know the real problem with trash? The truck stops, with all those cameras, need to charge an expensive fee for littering. Watch how many people throw garbage on the ground if it costs $500 every time.

Man after 2 weeks of 18 wheeler training I knew I was too slow and.impatient for that. I drive a Cement pump truck and I average about $2300 weekly, very glad I made that move

Companies like SWIFT and Western Express encourage their drivers to do all sorts of trashy things. I called Swift to report their driver blocking an island, they did nothing bc they don't care. Hope truck stop owners will figure at some point that other drivers avoid their places bc of those dirty swines and start banning them. I do avoid TAs and Pilots bc of how trashy and unsafe they are. I better go find a small independent truck stop that is not mentioned in Garmin and sleep well.

I was at a service plaza in Ohio and a truck driver threw his piss bottles on the ground close to my truck and i nicely put my gloves on and threw them away along with my gloves so i didn't get blamed for it. Just saying.

When you use a lot of water at the fuel Island and it goes into the drain system, that doesn't go into the sewer it goes into a holding tank that has to be hauled away and cost the business money.

None of these issues will end. There is no solution. I'm a plumber for 45 years. I've been in all kinds of places, social, economic, racial, and religious status. There are clean people and nasty people. It's human nature. There are people who drive 120k beautiful cars, and their living space is disgusting. People drive junky ol jalopy cars that are so clean that they are almost sterile. Some people have consideration and empathy, some people can't understand anything beyond their own convenience. They just don't see it. It is what it is, we are what we are.
Hauled freight for Prime Inc years ago. Sometimes miss it but I would NEVER get back into that line of work because of all the flip-flop wearing ass-hats there are on the road now.

Why can't a fella dump out his piss bottles in the grass somewhere? It's a question with no answer. Why can't a fella dump his ashtray in the trashcan instead of just all over the... daggone parking lot like that? (I'm trying not to cuss, it ain't easy.) Why do people throw their trash on the ground a few feet from the can? Too damn lazy to walk a whole ten feet? But park at the pump and walk inside to gitcha your cigarettes and your sodywater, dontcha? What was that song about some beach...
Not many real truckers left. can’t remember the last time I was at a Truck Stop. Trucking as I knew it is gone. Third world drivers now.
It's the good truckers fault and I have no sympathy for ya. How much does it cost to have a spray bottle with old oil in it for disrespectful drivers? When they have to clean oil off their windshield and spread antiseize all over that was on their door handles they would think twice about blocking pumps, scales and other stupid stuff. They make your life miserable knowing you will do nothing about it.

The caliber of drivers Iam seeing. Isn't particularly young but unskilled old and cranky. Is that what prisons has to offer besides foreigners. The guy that couldn't speak any English cracked me up so hard. In my opinion the driver pay must have gone down even more. Experienced drivers are probably doing local or regional. OTR was always grueling work. If that isn't your life style it will be difficult. Everyone likes to say Unions are communist but they have some hella nice paying jobs and benefits.

One thing I really hate is when a driver buys an Xtra large coffee, dumps a pound of sugar in it, or buys an Xtra, Xtra large sodee water, takes it out to his/her truck, then decides they don't want it, and dumps the drink out their window right next to my clean right front aluminum wheel. Even though I don't drink sodee water, I started carrying a bottle with me so I could do the same thing back and hopefully teach a lesson.

9:16 I once saw these dudes use the squeegee on the inside of their windshield. I saw that dirty nasty bucket water dripping down the inside of their windshield and had to smell something awful. I was in shock and just stood there and watched. They looked at me like "why the hell is he staring at us". I guess that something they did in their country. I dunno...
The most serious problem I have is when a sick trucker takes a runny shit by his landing gear and then drives off. So along I come with a relay and back in that spot and get out too drop my landing gear and find myself standing in some sick truckers shit. Then I end up getting it all over my cab. Sick stupid truckers.
2:16, driver was probably blocking that spot so another bobtail couldn't park their, seems drivers get mad when multiple bobtails park in 1 spot that a 53 could park in.

The rubber part of the squeegee was probably rotten away from the piss in the bucket so he was using the clean water to rinse the piss water off of his windshield to keep the piss water from leaving piss streaks all over it!
