  • Hyundai's new Palisade is their latest entry into the seven-seat SUV market and is positioned as more luxurious than its sibling, the Kia Telluride. We take a long real time test drive on a cold morning in Utah to disagree about the styling and debate who this SUV is best for.

Wish I could double like it. Great review. I could feel your love for the car 🙂 Am also leaning towards buying Palisade.. Shout out to your videographers for beautifully capturing the scenic locations.

The seats in the Palisade / Telluride are nowhere near as roomy as people make them out to be. The Suburbans, Expeditions, Wagoneers, Etc have significantly more room. The seats in the Palisade / Telly might be fine for younger kids, but when the kids in those large families get older they’d benefit from the extra space of the bigger SUV’s. Not to mention towing - if Kia and Hyundai want to make their largest 3 rows a compelling alternatives to the big boys, they need to offer more powerful engines to tow like the big boys. They also need to have more 4WD capability. A low range and ELSD. Then they’d be more compelling against those vehicles. In terms of their own segment, I find them to be very compelling against an Explorer, Traverse, Pilot, etc.

And…the AC is damn impressive. Disney World in summer, lunch break in the car with the engine and AC running for 45min to an hour: cold inside, the vehicle never even thought of overheating…on a nearly 100 degree day…

Love our Palisade. Completely agree on the grille-when we first got it…(I lost that argument). I don’t hate the front end anymore after getting used to it.
The push button transmission is awful- hate it. And no power fold mirrors sucks going thru the car wash. It could use a more powerful drivetrain, but as a family hauler, this is as close to perfect as any vehicle at twice the price.

Has the front of the car grown on you since the first time the video was posted or is it still "heinous"?

I don’t understand what people refer to when they say “precise steering.” Do some cars not turn when the steering wheel is turned?

(im watching in chronological order lol so u might get around to this and i just havent gotten there yet but)
do yall foresee exploring the used market on this segment ?
would be interesting to do "fast blast" style "quick trips" or smthn where u drive and review a 10-50yo suv/truck and share some info from the owners abt ownership experience
i never buy new cars bc they're untested/unknown
i prefer buying used once ppl have lived w them for a while and found their weaknesses and how to fix/accomodate them
personally, im esp curious abt towing on like 10-30yo suv's

Did the car smell ok? I know the Palisade is getting lots of "dirty sock" odor complaints.

If I was ten years younger with two pre-teens and a baby this would be my car. But I'm not, and actually the car I had at that point in my life was a Hyundai Veracruz. These are great cars and I actually notice each one when they go by, I like the styling.
