  • After hearing a rumor that their might be some White Seabass in town, I cleared my schedule for the next 3 days with one goal in mind: Catch one of these elusive creatures from my kayak. Big shoutout to ‪@ChrisPfish2‬ for his help motivating me to get out there. Check out his video here: • Casting A Live SQUID I...

Hello, master Die Hard, Garry here a once-professional fishing videographer and editor with Telly awards. ( Gary Boland - Ronnie Kovach's Fishing Ventures") Great WSB videos. I know that white sea bass are ridiculously hard to target. Yet you Die Hard double down by seeking to catch them locally in a kayak. You are a kayak fishing legend! Here is a little white seabass-catching secret you will never hear of anywhere else. Fish the local kelp beds with more than occasionally caught WSB. Anchor or drift in these small productive areas. Chum fresh small cuts of squid consistently. The little bait fish eating the squid will bring in the WSB to your kayak, Keep your whole baits soaking and be ready for the raid of big WSB coming to you.

Adam, I wish to thank you for your videos I watched probably 50 from the archive. I very much appreciate your humility. You are very open in discussing your mistakes. You are also very open in discussing the baits and techniques that you use, this is very valuable information. Thank you for sharing. I especially appreciate the respect you show your audience. Well done.

Sick fish bro! Grew up catching them out of Redondo Beach, fishing off Palos Verdes and Catalina Island back in the late 80s early 90s. One of my favorite fish to catch and eat, they’re delicious. Glad you knew about the otoliths too. Vermillion have decent sized ones as well, and I know you catch them every now and then. Stoked for you, must’ve been epic on the yak! Nice work brother! 🤘

Loved to hear about the planning and stalking that went into sight fishing and landing such an elusive fish. I targeted white seabass inside a very special harbor near the bait receiver with live squid and got some just legal seabass but realized they were being handfed by the bait receiver guys so I stopped catching their pets! Love how you specfically target certain species on you episodes.

If you hook up and get snagged in kelp. Saw away with that braided line. Kelp will feel like it popped. May have to go through a few stringers.

Nice, you’re probably going to mention this in the video but before I watch the WSB is in the same family as croaker and corbina… they are referred to by elders as California King Croakers sometimes and I didn’t know what they meant at the time 🍻
Also if you use 🦑 use a light egg sinker knocker rig of an orange jig head 5/8 or so and let the squid slow flutter to the bottom…
It’s a go to method in SoCal 🍻

    Hey Adam, have a question..
You don't worry about sea lions, or maybe even a shark grabbing your stringer on the side of the kayak??
I used to keep fish on a stringer, but one time in the Delta, a huge sea lion grabbed the biggest striper on the stringer, and pulled my 18' boat in a complete 180 upriver!! Lol
Just wondering, since you're in a kayak..
