This! I was going through a really tough time ONE year and really neglected my hair. It got so matted and so full of dandruff I was so ashamed of myself and too embarrassed to ask for help. Thankfully I found some one who made me feel okay about it? But I will NEVER EVER purposefully neglect my hair like these folks do! I think Its purely for the purpose of growing out hair… no one else does this then us black women 😬
For some people they may be severely depressed and that can spill over into how they neglect taking care of themselves because of their mental health, understandable. Maybe her mom doesn’t want to do her grown daughters hair once a month , and these people who don’t know how to take care of their hair have to spend money to get their hair done and many cannot afford it

This is ridiculous and nasty. There is no reason for anyone to be keeping in a weave, wig, extension etc for this long. I don’t even braid my hair under a wig, I just put it in a ponytail cus it’s easiest to remove and wash. Many of these females are completely healthy, they aren’t suffering from depression. They just do this on purpose.
I still wash my hair while it's in cornrows and even mini twist. Once I'm done, I'll redo the corn rows or mini twists after each wash, and the hair still grows beautifully. But.... if this works for them, then who am i to judge 😂 i just know my scalp would be itching like crazy so this is truly out of the question for many of us

first sew in i ever had i kept it in for 6 months and my hair did not look like that. That's not a time thing, that's people not washing their doggone heads. I washed my sew in just like I washed my hair.
This was me 2 years ago. I tried it with a wash and go 6 months later i was still washing but hair was not moving. Was going to cut my hair, but my brother paid to get my hair detangled.❤❤❤ Was depressed and just overwhelmed at the time, and like i said, I knew better than to do a wash and go, 3 days, and my hair starts to loc. Any Lazy Naturals, I suggest large braids. If you skip a month or 2 of takedown, you can still wash using a nozzled bottle and scalp massager. Use dandruff shampoo to avoid anything growing on your scalp. Moisturize using a nozzle bottle and thicken your oil with a butter or just take out the ends if you use butter. But the braids are better because it keeps the hair stretched and you can tackle a few braids per day if you're crunched for time and the braids are bit matted. And if you're hair is damaged just cut it. You're gonna shave time of detangling

I have done it before without realizing bcuz I was working so much n didn’t want too many ppl in my head. Just stuck with one hairstyle. N was surprised n shocked when I took it out. Others thought I had some kind of bundles in my head n was silent when I told them it was actually my real hair. Others were shocked as well. If I could find another wig that can last that long I will most definitely do it again bcuz of the thickness , length check n how my curls turned out.

My scalp is never overbearing or super smelly. If you are smelling someone's hair, you are clearly too close. People be bald headed thinking washing your hair every two weeks is helping it. It is not. I have seen more growth, leaving my hair alone than constantly bothering it every chance I get. I also have very strong 4c hair. My hair is always growing. It does not need to be washed every 2 seconds 🤣.
