It would be sick if you sold a kit eventually with "everything" you need to do gears. I'd buy it. Sure, I could go find them, but that brings no support to the channel.
I've been enjoying your touring and garage work, but when I saw this video was a full hour and a half, I wondered when/how on earth I was going to sit through it. Then I began watching. Then I couldn't stop watching. The time went by. Ok, it was class time, and I could have lunch, and coffee while learning at the same time. Please keep making videos! Any length you want. I'll watch them all. I learned a lot today. Awesome! Thanks.
Came looking for a comment about the new lighting. Colt probably just needs to adjust the frame rate of the camera if he can. If so we all win with clearer video and a higher frame rate.
Happy Birthday Shanna!!!!!!! Hope you had an awesome day!!!!! The Dirthead Shed on YT? Also want to say a small safety thing i found out the hard way like i told Mischief Maker, PLEASE close drawers on tool box as having more than 1 open at a time can dump that whole box and i had that happen with just 2 drawers open and what a mess it made BUT i did get to clean up my box and sort tools for days LOL PLEASE Be careful Colt
been watching you for awhile... just subscibed... took me a few seatings but enjoyed watching this build...good luck...p.s. happy birthday too your bride...
It was such a honor to meet you at werock, and chat. It's truly awesome your just down to earth as I hope you we're. Hope you make it back next year. And if I ever make down to Farmington be awesome to meet up and hang . Thank you Colt for being you.
I was raised in Durango, Colorado and spent a lot of time in Farmington and camping around Lake Navajo. My brother still lives in Farmington. I'm really enjoying seeing you build your channel in that gorgeous country! Great video! Happy birthday Shannon.
My name is Scott from Tennessee, love your channel and your rigs! I also like dirthead Dave Chappelle and his rigs too! Y'all keep on wheelin and buildin!!!!
I can tell you were a auto technician at one time, I worked as a tech for 18 years, unfortunately I had a heat stroke career ended. I love your channel, Happy Birthday Shannon .😊
As usual, a great plethora of useful knowledge! I never knew about the king pin adjustment on the 60’s. Also the h20 to the hub level in the tires on a crawler only for low weight. Smart!!! Thank you for the video. I have to go to work now and do the thing. 48 more mins to finish later. But I can tell it will definitely be worth it! Have a great day Colt👍
Great interesting video Colt . Lots of useful information for one building their own crawler . Nice to see family getting in there too . Happy Birthday Shannon . Regards Mart in the UK .
Lately I’ve been slow to click on any other video other than Colt’s. When his come out, I can’t click fast enough. Thanks for such great content for newbies like me.
You can't beat a understanding and loving wife by your side! Happy Birthday to you Shannon and another great video Colt. Oh yeah and I spy a Dirt Head Shed Video.
This old guy learns a bunch on your shows. Got 44 axles on my TJ with lockers but as you know no way to disengage the front axles normally. Always does this squak squak when I turn short on pavement. Now I know why! Happy Birthday to Shanna and for sure, very pretty!
Colt - love what you do. You’re the broke guy getting it done and you seem to be all over the place. I need the good guy to win just once. I need hope that us lovable losers can be victorious
I love your content. As a well experienced mechanic, I see you point out so many things that I’ve just naturally done by common sense, but at the same time, I’ve actually learned some things from you that I hadn’t thought of. Keep up the good videos and thank you!
Colt i love this rig. Your a great mechanic and ive seen you across the spectrum , Robby Layton , Matts offroad recovery , Fab Rats , welcome to the hot zone New Mexico . 🥵 ive been in arizona just 2 years now , oh and Mr. Rory Irish Trail Maters alter ego Mr Lite foot himself. You two need to do a competition. Anyway i just wanted to say its great that you and Ian are in the shop together. My dad and i had a terrible relationship keep it up 🙏. On a non mechanical point and so much more important i want to wish the Mrs. a great birthday day and its a pleasure to videographically meet you 🎂🎂 . The video of you both in colorado was awesome. I love seeing family out doing together and being engaged. God Bless and best wishes.
Great video. Permatex actually makes a sealant for gear oil. And now that you have the lift. A set of car moving dollies will help move your tires away from the vehicle.
Just learned a ton! I bought a 85 4 runner last summer. The drivetrain portion was very helpful thank you more Toyota stuff, please😄. Love your channel!
That Pacer brings back memories boy...a high school friend used to drive me to school in his mom's old Pacer back in the day. It wasn't cool but it got us to plenty of house parties!
Just a thought. When I remove and install fluid filled tractor tires I use a large prybar and slightly off the floor like you did. But the bar helps a lot. That way you have more leverage and less man handling.
Happy belated birthday Shannon, hope your special was amazing! Colt you are a lucky man, to have beautiful and supporting wife. Colt, you should get or build a tire wheel dolly for installing and removing your loaded tires on your rigs. It will help save your back and time. Having a working hoist in your shop is a great time and safety piece of equipment to have. We had one in our family garage, it save a lot of time and money. But the best part you’re not lying on the floor on your back. I was sick with vertigo and my 2003 ram needed a brake job for its annual inspection. I was able to do it from an old office chair and my truck up on the hoist just at the right height for me to do the job. Your Shop build is coming along nicely. I’m glad to see you building your channel with a great balance of content. You also do a great job explaining how to do things! I love, the comment “ this is the way I do it, right or wrong. But it works for me”
If you have the ability to change the settings on your camera to shutter priority and select a shutter speed that doesn’t capture the LED light flicker / banding it will improve your production quality. Your camera is altering the shutter speed to get the correct exposure when altering aperture works better for LED lights that flicker / band from the rolling shutter effect. Shooting in manual and adding lights under the vehicle is also an option but an absolute PAIN tripping over lights when working on a rig.
Good you have the power on now, so much better. Why not put the filler plug in the rear diff cover where you need it? Pretty simple to do and many reasons why you would want to do it. Thanks Colt, good luck with the competition.
Yet another GREAT video! Awesome you taking the time to "explain/teach" what you are doing rather than speeding through it! So happy you have the lift working. It was a well deserved upgrade to your shop. You are a very lucky man Colt to have a very understanding wife! Not only understanding, but one that is willing to get her hands dirty assisting in the channel! Really enjoy seeing her and Ian(sp) in the video's. They are awesome and please keep them coming........thanks for sharing
For my cords protection I went to the hardware store and bought a long soft spring that I wrapped around the cord from the differential straight up to the hole in the body! Just a thought! Happy Birthday Shana you look absolutely gorgeous!
Colt, Not only do I love all the shop video content but when your out wheeling you are very knowledgeable about the history of the area which to me is half the fun of wheeling new places. Good luck with you competition and maybe one day see you out on the trail?...🤓
Shop is coming along nicely Colt. Only thing I don’t really like is the fluorescent lights. It makes it look like you have lines running across the screen. Other than that, great video bro.
Colt, I’m absolutely loving the new channel and content!!! You’ve always done an awesome job talking about the trails and history of where you are. Super cool to see your new shop coming together makes me jealous (especially the 2 post lift)! Rad to see you rep’n your pals and seeing @Dirthead Dave from @TheDirtheadshed on the tube you have mounted in the shop! I’m in Colorado Springs and have all watched all of your Colorado vids many times making plans to get my ‘85 4Runner (on leafs of course and Chevy 4.3) back out to the trails and explore new ones also!
HEY happy birthday!!! I am watching this from WORK on my birthday. I'm wearing a skirt too. The other fellas in the shop are looking at me a little strange< but it's 100 outside so let the breeze blow
For your hand throttle - that lever is basically a cheap bicycle thumb shifter. It MAY be cheaper to just source one rather than buy one "made" for the truck. There are also some really nice thumb shifters out there with wonderful action if that one doesn't suit as much.
Dave From the Dirthead shed channel. I like watching you especially since I realized you're from the Black Hills. I like seeing and recognizing places Ive actually been. Keep up the good work and don't forget to visit and I hope to run across you out on the trails. IDK how to "tag" people
So I’ve been thinking about this from the last video. You said because I bought the lift I can put colt builds it stickers on it. I totally agree. I think you should go one step further and color match it to your toolboxes. Not necessary a lot of extra work, but it sure would look awesome. Love the channel.
I'm not sure why I'm not getting notifications on your releases, But you show up in the top of my feed cycle whenever a new release is down and out.❤ I like the electrical locker, Simplicity is the best root to go by. Good video.
Wow right on Colt ,you got your lift goin thats AWESOME 👌 And wow you guy's did a lot of work on the Sami. Good luck at the competition 💪 👍 Thanks for the video bro 👍
I’m located in Texas. I’ll bring my truck and everything I have to your shop and I’ll pay you money once a month think about it it would be a sweet video for your biggest fan. 😁
Great video as alway.. Love how you show every little detail.. Now I have a ?.. Who's winch line you use. I'm guessing that the one you use is the Best..

Sure, I could go find them, but that brings no support to the channel.
The light frequency with the camera hurts my eyes
Colt, you explain things well. A Good Teacher.
I appreciate that!
I know a lot of folks like shorter videos but, ths long content is awesome. I like seeing all of what you are doing.
I've been enjoying your touring and garage work, but when I saw this video was a full hour and a half, I wondered when/how on earth I was going to sit through it. Then I began watching. Happiest birthday Shannon
Happy birthday Shannon and great video Colt and Ian very well done
Happy birthday Shana.
Yes Colt, you have a beautiful wife.
Love the real-world content.
It's great that you've got the support and participation of your family.
You are SO much better on your own channel!
I'm sure you already know this but it looks like the frequency on the new lights is clashing with your frame rate.
Came looking for a comment about the new lighting.

Dirthead Dave is always great to have on in the shop! Makes me want to start saying things are rad! 🤘🏼
been watching you for awhile... just subscibed... took me a few seatings but enjoyed watching this build...good luck...p.s. happy birthday too your bride...
Thanks for the sub!
I love your channel just the way it is building real vehicles that will be capable vehicles
Hey that's The Dirthead Shed! what an awesome dude.
That chrome socket will explode and the shrapnel will counteract the pvc air line pieces and everything will be good! Love your channel man!
I like your style!
That’s kind of like fighting fire with fire. 😉
Happy Birthday Shannon. btw, I think the new lights might be interfering with the camera some. Maybe a lens filter?
It was such a honor to meet you at werock, and chat. It's truly awesome your just down to earth as I hope you we're. Hope you make it back next year. And if I ever make down to Farmington be awesome to meet up and hang . Thank you Colt for being you.

Happy birthday Shannon..😊😊😊😊
I'm 68 years old. I remember when harbor freight stuff sucked. I have no problems with any thing I've gotten from them for quite a while now
Excellent video Colt. Neat and fun to watch how much your channel has grown in such a short time, really enjoy each upload!
As usual, a great plethora of useful knowledge! I never knew about the king pin adjustment on the 60’s. Also the h20 to the hub level in the tires on a crawler only for low weight. Smart!!! Glad you enjoyed it or atleast most of it
Great interesting video Colt .
Lots of useful information for one building their own crawler .
Nice to see family getting in there too .
Happy Birthday Shannon .
Regards Mart in the UK .
That Samurai is so sweet. One of my favorite rigs. Simple yet so capable. I would love to build one like that some day.
Lately I’ve been slow to click on any other video other than Colt’s. When his come out, I can’t click fast enough. Thanks for such great content for newbies like me.
I appreciate that!
I usually only last 10-20 minutes, and I also ended up watching the whole thing! great stuff
@dirtheadshed was on the TV with Dave Chapelle.
Dave Chapelle!!! Love Dirt Head Shed! Even the low rider builds!!! Awesome channel.
Colt thanks for all the details, and Happy birthday to the wife
Thanks 👍
You can't beat a understanding and loving wife by your side! Happy Birthday to you Shannon and another great video Colt. Oh yeah and I spy a Dirt Head Shed Video.
❤Happy Birthday to Mrs Colt🎉🎉
Great video. The way you explain all the steps and tricks is awesome. Keep up the great work and happy Birthday to the misses.

Dirthead Dave recently sparked my interest in mini trucks. I need one in my life. Great video, as always, Colt!
I am glad to be able to catch your episodes . I missed them the first go around .👍
Great video. Permatex actually makes a sealant for gear oil. And now that you have the lift. A set of car moving dollies will help move your tires away from the vehicle.

Mr. Colt; have you ever considered wearing suspenders?
You can also use an open differential with applying independent rear brakes through levers.
I love the idea of your funnel holder at 23:08, I will be borrowing your technology. Thank you for the great content, have a great day!
Don
Glad it was helpful!
Colt, the video is The dirthead shed.
Keep up the awesome videos. I am really liking them. Peace brother
Happy birthday Mrs colt
Congratulations on the lift. I’m 47 and I’ve had a lift for 2 years now. I’m really not sure how i made it through life without it now 😂
Good you have the power on now, so much better. Why not put the filler plug in the rear diff cover where you need it? Pretty simple to do and many reasons why you would want to do it. Thanks Colt, good luck with the competition.
Happy birthday to you, girl🎉❤🌹🎈🎈🎂
Why that would be #DirtHeadDave from the Dirt Head Shed! BTW, Love your Channel! Been a subscriber from day one!

Hey! Lots of good information and content in this episode! That’s Dave Chapelle of the Dirthead Shed playing on your tv. 😎
Thanks for the video and happy belated birthday to your wonderful wife. cheers.
Thank you very much!
For my cords protection I went to the hardware store and bought a long soft spring that I wrapped around the cord from the differential straight up to the hole in the body! Just a thought! Happy Birthday Shana you look absolutely gorgeous!
Colt i use a furniture dolly from harbor freight for heavy tire removal. Works great with a lift!
Colt, Not only do I love all the shop video content but when your out wheeling you are very knowledgeable about the history of the area which to me is half the fun of wheeling new places. Good luck with you competition and maybe one day see you out on the trail?...🤓
You and Dave have the best channels.
Shop is coming along nicely Colt. Only thing I don’t really like is the fluorescent lights. It makes it look like you have lines running across the screen. Other than that, great video bro.
I'll be working on that going forward
@@coltbuildsit good deal. You’re doing great tho my guy!

Colt, thanks for the long form shop content, it’s the best!
Now THAT'S a video!! Just love your videos, the detail and camera work is awesome. Sweet buggy too!
Watching this while doing my rear drum brakes is awesome
HEY happy birthday!!! I am watching this from WORK on my birthday. I'm wearing a skirt too. The other fellas in the shop are looking at me a little strange< but it's 100 outside so let the breeze blow
Nice refresh on the Samurai, Colt!

You are very good at explaining things. I doubt I will ever wheel at your level but the info is very good to know!
Glad it was helpful!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Shannon!
Colt, you sure have a lot of projects going on. It sure is good that your family is behind you all the way.
Centerforce for the win!!! You will love it
Good job Colt and fam!!
Great info on the RCV axles.
Totally rad video! And that’s what Dirthead Dave from the Dirthead shed would say. 😉 👍
Just started following you really enjoy your builds and the dirthead shed
Love the MazGrande from Dave! You guys both have some amazing sense of automotive style lol
Colt builds it, I see dirthead shed Dave in the background. Nice.
Great Vid Colt. I dont usually watch long vids but i made time to watch this one. Your gonna kill it at WeRock!! Wish I could give 2 thumbs up
Wow, thank you
Thanks Colt. Awesome videos always. You produce the BEST how-to/ technical shows on RUclips. I hope you're getting paid well!! Keep it up please 😁
Thank you, we try hard.
I'm not sure why I'm not getting notifications on your releases,
But you show up in the top of my feed cycle whenever a new release is down and out.❤
I like the electrical locker,
Simplicity is the best root to go by.
Good video.
You can also put grease on your taps like you did on your drill bit to keep the shavings out 😉
Great video. Your explanations are spot on. We'll done
The shop is looking great! Happy Birthday Shannon!
Shop Tip! Mount wheels on your press. You can keep it out of the way when not needed.
Wow right on Colt ,you got your lift goin thats AWESOME 👌 And wow you guy's did a lot of work on the Sami. Good luck at the competition 💪 👍 Thanks for the video bro 👍
old school tractor tires are often 1/3rd to 1/2 filled with a thick calcium salt that won't freeze and is heavier than pure water.
I’m located in Texas. I’ll bring my truck and everything I have to your shop and I’ll pay you money once a month think about it it would be a sweet video for your biggest fan. 😁
Nice to see you have a lift
Will definitely be looking forward to the we rock videos ❤❤.
I run electric lockers front and rear. I love them and have had zero issues with them.
Love the channel
Love the lighting
Dislike the polarized video under the lights.
Nice shop!
Sorry about that, Ill play with it before the next video
Great video as alway.. Love how you show every little detail.. Now I have a ?.. Who's winch line you use. I'm guessing that the one you use is the Best..
That was Matt! From Bleepin Jeep!!
