@@gradyshirey7860 Yeah, I know that-but you'd think he'd have carried some subs from Bleepin with him. Good fabricator, great crawler. He's a good guy.
Hi Colt. I'm one of the guys that mention the soot trick. thanks for reading the comments and trusting us welders. I love your builds and hope one day I can build my own buggy.
I like how you fully explain everything so we know what going on and how you are doing what you are doing and why. It's looking good and it's a few steps closer to being done and ready.
U like having the frame work to look good and grind it clean it's call having pride in you an your work not many people like that around anymore I have alot of respect for you colt
That really has to be a per project call , did you see how much time , effort and product was needed ... Not all projects require this much extra attention... Getting the job done is way more valuable...
How Colt isn't more popular I don't know. His S-10 from last time and this Pacer are a masterclass is building things right. Your time will come, dude. You are a true craftsman.
As usual great work and explaining to all of us out here in the world. It is people like you that make it doable for common folk . Thank you and your wife for the help you give us all. Nice racing 🏁!
Dang it! I was waiting for you to make stencils and paint the upper arms with all the poop pipe signage. Just to make people that see it start scratching their heads trying to decide of you are really that crazy.
Its a rad car man. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I am considering doing a 4 link for the first time on my old landcruiser fj62. I will book mark this video for sure.
A few decades ago we would have built a roll cage with that pipe or worse. I have built some really sketchy rigs, but I lived. Not many breaks of what I built, but we would go to the junkyard and scavenge together parts of cars and some junk iron pipe, some I beam, some angle and I welded it together with 7018 rod. Hey it usually worked and it cost nearly nothing.
Most important tool in the shop: broom. I worked on aircraft 40+ years and keeping a clean work area was mandatory. Great project and progress. Thank you.
Some really neat stuff being built on the On X challenge. Been welding for over 40 years and didn't know the soot trick. Always learning but the spray cans one can buy for the same purpose is faster and more convenient plus you can use it on your nozzle and tips and jigs. But still interesting.
When I worked at a welding shop for a short stint welding hitches and what not, we always used soapy water and the little dingle berry's would wipe right off.
Hey Colt, Great video, I love the way you video and explain how you do things and most important why you do it that way. Your RACE CAR is coming together great, and looks good. When you first said that you were going to make a race car out of a pacier, I said to myself What - No.... but it's working for me now. Cool. A ton of work thou.. Keep them coming. Later
Nice! 👍 I was just going to ask about a relief for the upper links, and presto zingo you do it! Thanks for so much info and advice on the how and why. Looks like …well …. It’s amazing! 🙏❤️😎🤙
Great video appreciate all the tips & tricks you share, racer pacer will definitely turn heads and perform just as you built it, thanks for sharing God bless ❤️👍
Truly professionally designed/created/built with pride, quality, and fine craftmanship that's trumped only by the even more impressive explainers!! Yep, done the way ONLY Colt Builds It!!! I can already picture you and Rory (btw two similar sized dudes) both having a blast whipping and racing it!!! I can't hardly wait.
Hi Colt. I've been a member of your channel since day one. Love what you do. I'm a jeep lover too. I'm leaving Milwaukee Wisconsin tomorrow morning.. going to Utah. In a 2003 Jeep Liberty sport . I have a lot of new parts in it . But you know how that goes. I don't know a lot of people on my way. Hope some people out there. Will help if things get bad . I don't expect anything for free. Thanks for reading.
You exactly right Mr Colt. It's painful to have a spark roll down your ear hole. Listening to the was melt.ihad a welding instructor you remind me of. Many many years ago. Great man and a blast to learn from
Those back windows sure do stick out a bit. Maybe it needs a grill.. Looking great, as usual. Good luck on the trail. I can't believe it's just later this month.
I think the best way to cut the arcs in trailing link brackets is to use a piece of tubing the same diameter as the axle housing and trace the arc on the bracket to get a perfect fit.
The TJ wasn't jeeps first rear link suspension. If I am correct it was the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ which came out in 93. And then it was adapted into the TJ
I'd buy that plasma cutters were an accident. If you throw a holder in front of the stream and use inert gas, it would probably do spray transfer. I love watching Abom79 build up shafts using spray transfer.
I think the plasma torch was an attempt at an air arc like when you're trying to get the main swing boom pin out of a backhoe you put your torch oxygen to a piece of brakeline and but it in your ark welder turned up turn the oxygen on clip the brakeline in the stinger strike an ark it'll blow a hole right through the pin when it cools it drops right out is it safe probably not does it work sure does
I have never had luck welding with the joints in the tube adapter, i used to have sarificial bolts that i would thread in a few turns, i quit even using them yesrs ago. I was always worried about the dingle berries messing up the treads but since i stopped worrying about it, I have never had an issue.
So you don’t worry about ending up on ticktock. Those yellow things one the ground called ratchet straps you can use to strap the car down to your lift.
Great video. You keep talking about building a race car but Ian talks about over landers. You gonna pack a sleeping bag and some snacks in this bad boy?
Years ago I had opportunities to be in the big 3 prototype garages. I do not remember which one I was in but I saw a 4 inch tie down being used as a safety to keep a prototype vehicle on the lift. I was told it only took the destruction of one 1/4 million dollar proto to get new safety procedures implemented.
Is that rear truss set up strong enough front to back??? I think a bit of trussing across the back might be needed??? It's hard to tell from video's But amazing work, that thing looks great... Cheers R...
Colt: "I need to keep this radius, but , come up a half inch..." Also Colt: proceeds to measure and cut a line that has a half inch larger radius. ME: It is just metal, he will make it work. Also me: OK, he made new ones to save himself from filling the 1/4" gap. Also also me: OK, he still cut the radius to large. but, It is just metal, he will make it work.
Good morning colt looks like you are coming along with the pacer I just would I what are you searching fuel tanks for my truck and I found a donut fuel tank to go to in order to spare tire bracket is I just thought I would mention it because it is a big round donut looking fuel tank holds about 15 or 20 gallons I believe it's not right in your spare tire rack it would be about the axle just thought I would mention that good luck on your build
Pipe seems a little small for a turd. :) I was thinking of using solid round bar on my lower links. Might add some unsprung wheight and be pretty strong? Really appreciate your channel and look forward to your videos.
How do you set ride height? Is it done with adjustable shocks, or do you do it measuring shock and springs? I enjoy watching your builds. I learn a lot.
would you be able to do a weld on johnny joint on the frame side of the trailing arms ? that way you could grease easily also i love my johnny joints i have 2 years of hard trail use on almost every weekend and they are tight as day 1
I can't believe you don't have more subscribers. You always give 100%. Good stuff. Thanks, Colt.

I used spray on vegetable oil as an anti-splatter. Much cheaper than welders anti-splatter, and works great.
When I worked at a welding shop for a short stint welding hitches and what not, we always used soapy water and the little dingle berry's would wipe right off.

Good episode. The car looks epic at that stance. Yeah baby, yea!! What tires will you be running? I know you are not using those beat up swampers...
Colt you should get some Heeley’s for the slide in intro, and to get around the shop quicker 😂

Great video. Love the attention to detail, learned a bit more about 4 links. Thks
1993 grand cherokee ZJ i would say was jeeps first rear link suspension set up
The pacers coming out awesome Colt
You can purchase a MIG Anti Stick Spray that is designed for the MIG torch, but works well to spray on metal parts that you do not want splatter on.
The stance is perfect

Under hoist stands are cheap, well worth the investment. Edit: i see you bought one now that I've watched further into the video.
Fluid film works better for spraying inside of your tubes. It sticks around and will not drip out.
They make a food grade anti seize that works just as well as the silver anti seize. The food grade is not as messy
