In this episode of Chef Kevin Belton’s Cooking Secrets he reveals an unusual technique for making light and tasty crab cakes. This recipe blends fresh crab with a flavor mixture that accentuates its sweetness without unnecessary ingredients.
The creole chef and host of the public television series “New Orleans Cooking with Kevin Belton” has been teaching the fundamentals of New Orleans cooking to appreciative audiences from around the world for over 20 years. Belton, who was recognized as one of the top Louisiana chefs by the American Culinary Federation, has been a featured chef and guest on numerous food programs including Emeril Live; Ready Set Cook; Live Love Lunch; Food Fighters; Taste of America; and Eating in the Bayou. In his public television series, Belton pulls back the curtain to show viewers that economy and simplicity are hallmarks of New Orleans’ flavorful cuisine. “Everybody says you make it look so easy, but I teach them that it is easy.” Наука

He is such a character lol
Love this show on the PBS Create channel
I love your cookie
FINALLY! someone who doesn’t just have a plain smooth crab cake! There’s onion in it for flavor and crunch! I add onion and celery to mine, but every recipe I’ve seen is the same and w no veggies/crunch!
Nice video :) the creole and hot sauce are awesome too! Gotta have the sweet, savory, spicy, acidic to it!
(: I don't like onions 😐, but I like them crunchy too, I add celery instead or another vegetable!!!!!
Because I think more flavor makes a real crab cake!!!!!....... 😚
Kevin belton such a wonderful chef 👏
Thank you for all the amazing recipes❤️... if I’ve had a crazy 😜 day I just pull you up and it’s all better😀
Hey chef... What a great idea by using the tin foil. Thank you so much for the tip. I can't wait to try it out !!! Once again thanks

That's a great "hobby" to have! We love helping you make people smile! :)
Really loving the show as well. Been watching for a year and a half on my local PBS Create. They don't show it enough here in Texas. BTW, any one know anything about that griddle or have it!? Kind of got me thinking of getting one!
Enjoy all your programs, especially the ones on PBS-I would really like to see you do Boudin Sausage. Thanks
Taking him with me in my dream kitchen.
I love his cooking and personality...but I might have to go with that other Creole chef who went through a flash fry then bake method. He is a master Louisiana chef, but Kevin is still great too!!!
Looks like a great recipe! I am going to incorporate this into my son's birthday this weekend! I think I will use wax paper or parchment paper instead of foil. I just do not like using aluminum foil because of health concerns.
(: I agree with you on that!!!!!.......☺
Aluminum, plastics, microwaves,..
and "right down the line", soy products, artificial sugars, modified food..................ugh..... :(
We have to start saying "NO"!!!!!
It's the consumer who buys and we should have a say!!!!! I used a package not too long ago to make pistachio pudding & it was "garbage"..... I like homemade but the "Jello" brand was always good, but everything has changed now!!!!!......... :(
Is kevin still doing shows or do stations just broadcast reruns ? I love this guy.
PBS runs new shows of his on the Create channel...
Hi Kevin, I watch you on PBS every chance I get. I would like to know why you use white pepper; also, what do you recommend to be the best salt to cook with?
Very peaceful channel
Dude rules
Presto eau Claire wi.👍
love the foil idea. Thank you.
Best crabcakes I have ever cooked!! Thanks!!
Discovered Kevin about a year ago....Funny guy who makes recipes fun to watch and try at home..other good chefs could learn from him about presentations with that light touch for viewers....makes a world of difference.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😎👍🏼
hi chef I'm from Louisiana and can I and my wife join some for maybe an hour for some cooking lessons? Thanks Chef
Good morning
👍🏾
Great tip shaping the cakes with the foil, I think I'll be using this method from now on.
Aluminum is toxic....... :(
Use something else like parchment paper.......... ☺
Be careful to not ingest the aluminum foil, that could send you to the emergency room. Cutting into the food with aluminum on can get a piece in your food, that is not very safe.
Slicing through aluminum and then dipping it in butter is absolutely insane....this is not parchment paper!
never did like this but i'll try, less grease.
(: These are a delicious "treat"..... ☺
You will know what you're missing when you try one!!!!!..... lol........☺
Kevin Belton.
Krazy Kooking by
Olga Govia Moist crab cakes. Happy Thanksgiving.
I have always thought that egg - is a binder better than anything else - but mayonnaise is the thing -- HUH ? ! - now Im really having to reprocess things -- ahahahahaha - now I know what Cagan crab cakes look like -
"In our bo."
To this!
like sushi
the finished crab cake in the video looks uncooked in the center, and you started off with a raw egg, will this be safe?
I would finish them off in the oven
Reckon anyone ever finds a small shard of tinfoil in their crab cake?
Hopefully Not!!!!!..... ☺
I don't use foil accept to cover in the fridge sometimes, but I put parchment paper first!!!!!
Thought the same thing...
ONE QUESTION:
Will you marry me?? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Your cooking~omg!!
Only if he wants to be an adulterer, he's already married! ;)
Mary Sanchez LOL MARY!! I'm old & married. 😀 I meant his cooking is like the way my Mom used to cook. I watch his show w/my granddaughters!! Makes me hungry to watch!! LOL LOL 😄
Mmmmmm tin foil tasting crab cakes
Looks like a great recipe but I never use aluminum foil for anything.
Imitation crab me shrimp canned tuna stove top stuffing mix 18 egg zatarain's liquid crab boil teaspoon teaspoon of smoked liquid smoke lots of mayo lots of seafood put in it corn and lots of green onions and lots of celery lots of carrots lots of seafood deep fried peanut oil
lol... cutting that foil
I would think there is a danger of cutting small pieces of aluminum foil when slicing. Too risky for me.
What a complicated process
Them crab cakes look like cat food with a crust!😖
No nos gusta
I'm in disbelief.who raised you?
They look like canned tuna
Ruined a crab cake
The way he holds and uses utensils is very awkward
I like this guy but I think he's very sloppy he never seems to clean his hands and the way he handles the utensils and stuff is just odd
I don’t blame you for earning a living, but the Presto commercial is cringey.
That looks terrible Chef
Tasty crabs from horizon oil spill.. you eat crud oil , not me
