How To Pull A Lungo Using A Breville Barista Express

  • If you enjoy drinking espresso on it's own but feel like it's a bit strong, I'd recommend giving the lungo a try. Where an espresso has a 1:2 coffee to espresso ratio, the lungo has a 1:3 ratio. This makes it have less of a kick to since it has the extra water running through the coffee puck.

    I have a question regarding this, how do you dial the recipe in? For example if I coarsened my current grind to allow 20 - 30 seconds extraction to yield 50g I’d end up with a bitter drink. Obviously a lighter roasted coffee will allow you to extract longer than a darker roast but I’m confused how you can pull a lungo with the right balance of sour/bitter.
