This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
If you press and release the shot buttons, it will pull at about 15 bar, with a pre infusion somewhere between 6 and 9 bar. But if you *hold down* the shot button for the entire duration of the shot, you can actually pull the whole shot at 9 bar, which I think has better results. Other great accessories, in priority order: 1. Scale. You want consistent input weight of coffee and output weight of espresso. Only way to do it is a scale. The grinder doesn't deliver consistent weights, particularly if you use the hopper and the coffee ages. 2. Naked portafilter. The baskets it comes with are actually fine, you just need a naked portafilter to see what is actually happening with your shots. 3. Dosing cup. Dosing directly into the portafilter is really messy on this machine, a dosing cup will help with the mess and can also help with clumping and distribution.
Regarding the steam wand cleaning, wipe immediately with damp cloth and tip wand directly over drip tray, briefly set the dial to STEAM position. This will clear remaining milk from inside steam wand. It will not get hard and wand clear to use next time. This is VERY important to do.
Hands down the best video I have watched on operating this machine. I just bought it and ran into a few issues...pressure (grind too coarse)...for one. Excellent video. Can't wait to try my Breville again this morning. Sent your video to my husband because I want him to learn how to use it as well. Thanks so much. Watching in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Your feedback means a lot to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, I really appreciate that. I wish you good luck on your Breville espresso journey ☕️. Cheers from California! 💫☀️🥥🌴
You literally skipped past the one thing I needed to see which was how to insert the bean hopper. I can’t get mine in and was hoping you might have showed how it works.
I'm so excited to share this review with you guys! I absolutely love this machine because it has exceeded my expectations, it’s a pretty elegant machine and it’s more than enough for my home. It’s also easy to use just has a learning curve that once you learn it you'll be the barista of your home. Hopefully this video will be your guide to get you started today. ☕
This a reminder for you to change the water filter after two months. So you set the number 2 months ahead. For example in the video I set mine to number 7 because we were in May the 5th month of the year so in July which is the 7th month I remembered to change it. You have to always check the number because the machine will not remind you to change the filter.
Thanks for the review. Very informative. I am nee to this machine. Do you know if it is normal that the milk frother create a knocking sound from the back?
Incredibly incredibly helpful as a new breville user! So excited to continue to experiment 🥰 love all the tips and tricks I learned from watching this video!
So helpful! I just bought this machine and had a few issues setting it up so I searched for set up videos and this video fixed the problem I was having and made the rest of the set up so easy!
What a marvellous video. Thank you. I am 80 & bought my Barista Express a week ago. I look forward to experimenting with grind size etc: and enjoying a double espress very soon. Your demonstration will be a great help
You will change the grind settings per torrefaction level... Coarser for darkier roast and finer for lighter roast. It's fun to experiment roast level/grind size. Always move the grinder setting wheel while you grind.
I am curious if I can add just the weight of coffee I want in the hopper and grind just that? I have one of these 'on order' from the fat man and was hoping I can easily switch between caf and decaf? So plan is to weigh beans, dump in grinder, grind manually until done, tamp, shot. Possible on this machine?
Hi Rose love your video you mentioned the internal grind setting at 6 can you advise the setting on the side dial please ? as I am struggling to get the combination correct
Yes, extracting should stop without manual intervention. You can also dial in your own settings then in that case you can set it to whatever level you would like it to stop at.
Very informative video. This is the first video that I watched to date, where you mentioned to froth the milk first before pulling your shot of espresso. I also like the detailed steps of the features and adjustments. Thank you!
Just took a brand new one out of the box and went through the set up but the filter light keeps flashing between 1 and 2 and I can't set to either one. Checked the grinder and hopper switched on and off but no luck. Nothing on RUclips about this either. Any tips please?
I agree with with Miss Canada. Best video I have seen on operating this machine. Better than some of the "professional baristas". Thanks for sticking to the basics.
Don’t get the hype for this thing. It makes the worst espresso, the pressure thing doesn’t work on mine, it makes alot of mess everywhere and is very loud. Not worth the $750.
Yes Dora, I do unplug it every time so I can properly clean it and dry it. I know the pain but I think you should do that if not every time you use it maybe every other time.
So happy to find this video! I am planning to by the Barista Express but worried I wasn't up to the skill level needed! I saved your video so I can come back to it. Thank you!
Oooo, thank you for this guide on how to use the Breville. I just bought it today and my first two attempts failed. The third and fourth were much better, but with these tips I'm sure it will be really good in the morning. Can't wait to try again.
Hi, lovely video! I have been eyeing this particular Breville machine for awhile now. This machine is currently $750. Are there discount codes that people can use to be able to get it for$500? Thank you!
Elizabeth, I know the price went up like crazy. I wish I have any discount codes for you but unfortunately I don’t. I’m sorry! Hopefully they put it on sale soon.
Help!. I hope you read my comment. After watching this video I began to try and adjust my grind levels and grind amount. I tried so many level from courser to finner up, from more to less grind coffee but the pressure does not even go higher. What should I do?
It sounds to me like you are not locking the Portafilter all the way. When you try it next time, lock the Portafilter like you normally do then turn it to the right even more so the handle is not sticking straight out. I get better results with it a bit off to the side.
Please help!! This is EXTREMELY frustrating😫 Whatever I do, no matter how coarse or fine my beans are, the coffee will flow for no more than 13 seconds, sometimes as little as 10 seconds. And everyone keeps saying it should run for 25-30 seconds! I've tried all the grind settings from the highest to the lowest, and obviously adapting the coffee amount setting. It will always, and I really mean always, flow coffee for 13 or less seconds. Is there something wrong with the machine itself maybe, it looks nothing like on the RUclips videos were they say "just change how fine you need your coffee to be" and they press the button and it will magically flow for 25 seconds. What am I doing wrong?? Please help. (I do the advised amount of beans also every time)
nice break down of the machine, i was looking to buy one & thought of this model but it looks to big for my place probably going to go with samller model, nice video though. 👍👍
How do you get the pressure needle to stay in the gray area? Thanks I definitely needed this video. My machines arriving today and it’s my first machine. So am I answering my question? do you just have to make sure that it’s not too coarse not too fine and that when you push it down with a temp that it’s even then it should be in the middle of that area
Just got my espresso machine this past weekend and was feeling overwhelmed with the setup so I searched RUclips for help. Your video came up and it was so helpful! Thanks so much!
Just know about this brand from another video and found this beginner's guide. So helpful and can not wait to get one for my house. Thanks for the tips.
i just purchased this machine and your video saved my life, setting up the machine. as this is the first ever coffee machine i have bought. so thank you very much :) :)
Excellent video! So thorough and informative. Thank you for showing the various ways to make espresso (including the cappuccino and operating the steam wand). Best video I've seen for this Espresso Machine.
For $500 espresso machine I was hoping it was built with two options. 1 - The steamer should automatically stop when the foam/milk reaches its appropriate degree. And 2 - Have the ability to brew my shot while steaming the milk. Also, be aware that this machine is LOUD. It is loud when you grind the beans, it is loud when you steam your milk, and it is loud when you turn it on. I don't recommend it.
Thank you Rose! I have had a Solis Master 5000 since 2005.. It finally gave up the ghost.. I purchased one of these but haven't got it yet.. The secret to making an espresso machine last is the water you put in it.. I have religiously put RO water in mine.. It gets used every day.. The machine mechanics tell me the hard water will eventually kill the boiler and internals
Fabulous video, excellent filming, excellent editing. I unboxed my machine and watched this video a few times and in a few tries produced some nice pulls.!!! Quick question: I've seen people adjust the grind while grinding out old beans. Is that the preferred method?... start the grinder and then turn the dial while it is running?...
This is the most informative yet approachable video I’ve seen on Brevilles! Thank you!
I really appreciate your kind feedback. I’m so glad it was helpful!

It has an over pressure valve rated to 9bar, so it won’t ever exceed this pressure

Regarding the steam wand cleaning, wipe immediately with damp cloth and tip wand directly over drip tray, briefly set the dial to STEAM position. This will clear remaining milk from inside steam wand. It will not get hard and wand clear to use next time. This is VERY important to do.
That's a smart thing to do. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your helpful video! I was feeling very intimidated by the machine. Now I feel like I can handle it. Also, your ring is gorgeous!
as someone that worked at starbucks this is exactly what you do. wipe the wand then steam it out after use!
She’s not very bright
Absolutely perfect video!! I can’t wait to watch again once I get my machine. Thank you
Thank you so much. I'm glad it was helpful.
thank you queen, i can now make my lattes with my very first owned breville espresso machine

Best "how to " video for the barista express machine. Breville should have scooped this up. Thank You.

Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased one and your video was so helpful!
You literally skipped past the one thing I needed to see which was how to insert the bean hopper. I can’t get mine in and was hoping you might have showed how it works.
I am sorry I went over it really quickly 5:39.
You have to place the hopper on top of the machine and turn the dial to lock it into place.

That’s one of my favorite coffee brands. It used to be #1 but now it’s illy.

This is by far the best starter video on this model! Thank you

“I like to use my finger” 😂 that’s what the other side of the razor is for lol
looks great, and the coffee machine is good too.☕
Warning unless you wanna learn to be a barista. It isn’t the machine for you.
THIS. WAS. SO. HELPFUL!! I just was setting up my new Breville and was clueless reading through the endless pages of the manual 😂

Oh, that’s super sweet. I’m very glad to hear your feedback 🌸 Thank you.
Hi Rose love your video you mentioned the internal grind setting at 6 can you advise the setting on the side dial please ? as I am struggling to get the combination correct
She left everything at factory settings. For her that was internal grind 6 and external grind at 5
Thanks for Sharing 👍
It's a nice machine but it's unbelievable not to have a water sensor
Hi great video question does the machine stop brewing once it reach it 2oz of espresso? Or do you have to Manually stop it
Yes, extracting should stop without manual intervention. You can also dial in your own settings then in that case you can set it to whatever level you would like it to stop at.
Very informative video. This is the first video that I watched to date, where you mentioned to froth the milk first before pulling your shot of espresso. I also like the detailed steps of the features and adjustments. Thank you!

I recommend it.

Awesome video super helpful especially when first using this machine! Made great coffee this morning thanks to you!

Thanks Rose, will you unplug the single wall single shot every time after usage ? I found so hard to plug and unplug the shot in and out…
Yes Dora, I do unplug it every time so I can properly clean it and dry it. I know the pain but I think you should do that if not every time you use it maybe every other time.
The fit is very tight. I found the 'Razor' precision tool to be helpful to pry it out.
Just purchased this machine. Thank you for the video. It was outstanding.

why do so many reviews say to let machine warm up 10-20 minutes, yet the power button stops blinking after 30 seconds indicating it’s ready?
