- Great Carve has come out with a full acrylic enclosure for open frame diode lasers that gives you full view of the laser while protecting your eyes, lungs and ears from the harmful light, smoke and noise from running a diode laser. As a bonus, they sent some of their scratch acrylic material to test out as well.
Check out the enclosure and all their laserable materials here: greatcarve.com/

Thanks for your support! We've carefully watched your video and are improving on the issues you've raised. Thanks for your sharing !🤩
Might be better to use a barrel nuts and shorter screws? Looks pretty good though
Thanks for sending it out! Overall it's a nice unit that works well.
What is the OD+ Rating for 450nm range of this enclosure?
This product is OD 7+ over the range of 190 to 540 nm, blocking deep ultraviolet to green including violet and blue light. The 450 nm Laser Safety Acrylic enclosure can reduce the risk of light entering the eyes from diffusely reflected laser radiation. With an optical density (OD) rating of 7+ in the 190 nm to 540 nm range, they provide reliable protection. 🥰
I have had great experience with GreatCarve so far and have wondered about these enclosures. Thank you for sharing!!
Great to hear! This is my first experience with them and both the enclosure and the materials they supplied are of nice quality. I hope to see more from them in the future.
That's a pretty cool enclosure Steve. There was a noticeable sound difference with it closed. Nice job on that image too. Well done. 👍🏻
Thanks Dave! I think the mic picked up the sound level difference better than my ears. I guess middle age is catching up with me! 😂
Thank Steve!
Thanks for watching Sharon!
This really caught my attention ... too bad it won't fit my laser (ATEZR P20+).
I agree, a little more length would help it to support the slightly larger lasers. Hopefully they look at a larger option as well.
Looks like the access could be difficult for a larger piece of material.
It would not be hard to block it up temporarily for a larger item but you would loose a lot of the protection when doing that operation.
Are there gaps where the hinges are ? Are you a twins fan ? New subscriber from North of the cities !
The gaps are pretty tight as long as you take your time to square up all the hinges and corner connectors. I've been a Twins fan since before the 87 world series. I still have my homer hankies from both 87 and 91! Thanks for the sub, glad to have another from the North Star state!
Ughh, 1" too short for my delta. Any other options - I don't like the black fabric, I want to see what's happening all the time
Ugh that's too bad, it did fit my alpha but the delta is a bit bigger. You could check Clearview Plastics to see if one of theirs will fit the delta. I've not used one of them but they have been around for a while making these for a variety of lasers.
Is this material certified to protect from these lasers or do you wear glasses, too? Kind of risky to pets and kids if it is not fully protective. Thanks.
This is the statement from the manufacturer. "This product is OD 7+ over the range of 190 to 540 nm" OD 4+ is considered safe with no additional protection for the 450nm wavelength of Diode lasers. There are still the openings on the lower front corners for cables and airflow, so you would want to keep that in mind for any light escaping concerns.
Will it fit the Atezr P20?
Unfortunately no the Atezr P20 is too long front to back to fit this enclosure.
Do you think it will it fit the D1 Pro 20w?
Yes it will work for the xTool D1 Pro series no problem.
@@VintauriThanks for the reply. Great video!!
Ive been really interested in one of these for my LongerRay 5.... ok $279 never mind. Its just an acrylic box and costs half as much as the engraver. No fan or tubing included - yeah, no.
Unfortunately the laser rated acrylic is not cheap. At about $35 a piece for 12x24" pieces, you would end up with a slightly smaller enclosure that costs almost as much.
