Thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos showing this delectable Somali cuisine. I lived in Minneapolis for 15 years and recently moved to Chicago and have been missing Somali food. With your tutorials it has helped me make all of my favorite dishes that I've eaten over the years. Sambusa being my fave of them all next to Somali Pasta. I am forever grateful to you for sharing these beautiful dishes!

I am an African American and our Thanksgiving tradition is to invite someone who is not of our faith or culture to dinner. A Somolian friend brought samosa. My family and friends loved it and it has been a part of our Thanksgiving meal since . This year I am going to try to make it myself.

Thank you for this video. My husband is from Yemen and they eat this dish, especially during Ramadan. I have my own way of making a variety of this and tried to learn their way. Their rolling method is a bit hard to learn and even their younger girls can't do it. I showed them this video and they are so happy for the easy way to roll and have already begun using it. I told them that before they would roll maybe 20 using their method and with this way, they could be making hundreds! I mysel will be using this method today. Thanks again!

The problem could have been caused by one or all of the following:
    1- Not enough oil
    2- Not enough flour
    3- Not cooked enough
We believe that should take care of the problem. It is great that you took on this task and hopefully it will be easier the next time around. Let us know how it went.

There are different versions of Somali samosa pastry. Everyone has his own preference. For the type you described no oil is added to the dough, thereby the crunchiness. The sweet taste you described must come from using plenty of onions. This method was particularly used in restaurants because it was more economical.

Instead of rolling and cooking the pastry individually, it is layered to cut short the pastry preparation time. Some people use only two layers, others 3-4, while the experience can layer even 12 sheets at a time! Cooking the pastry sheets firms up the pastry, making easy to fold and fill them. Thank you for the question.

Cooking it longer makes it easier to separate, but make sure they don't harden. Even though you may have cooked it for the same length of time, the heat setting could be different. The type of oil used will not make a difference. Thanks for the question.
