I’ve got a 7.5 Golf R and EQT is HUGE in our community. have always seen people mixing turbos with the EQT custom software but no one’s done better (that I know of) ( and as far as a drop in bolt in turbo) then the EQT Vortex XL pared with their software. EQT is an awesome company!
S3 all day over the others.. I have basically the same car... FL 2018 S3, Im just about to go to stage 2 with 034 motorsports and calling it a day. This car is my daily driver and Im aiming for the perfect reliable /quick car without pushing the limits at all of this engine. I have my CTS direct fit intercooler (new version ) and CTS downpipe already. My S3 is already pretty quick, runs low 12s in the quarter with just stage 1 ECU/TCU from 034. This platform is amazing, just stay on maintenance and these cars will last a long long time.
Ay nice on the 1/4 time. I'm about to pickup a 2016 S3 next week. Already test drove it when it was bone stock and it hauled ass, I could just imagine what a simple stage 1 would feel like
100% audi 4 life here. Love this car, have basically the same S3 in mythos black metallic. Im going stage 2 and stopping there because I want a really reliable daily driver. Im going with 034 for my tuning because its probably the safest tune out there while still having great power output.
@@volkssturm9694 doing the same with my B5 man, I've put a garrett gt2871r on it and only want a conservative tune because I want it to last because the car is like new. From what I've read on the various audi forums 034 is the best tune out there.
I think it’s the Best Buy right now all Audi S3 look like RS3. And all come with dsg trans. There are VW Golf R for sale but it’s crazy expensive unless you get a manual which half the PRICE. CRAZY

I’m bias but the S3 with the carbon package is super sexy. I agree 💯 that the Golf R is more practical, but there is something about the hot hatch boy racer look that I’m over after 10 years with a GR STi. Mine is an 18 S3 with and IE intercooler, intake GT2260s, and an CTS MPI kit. For a very very loose comparison is made 395WHP / Mustang on E30. It made peak torque of 395 at 2900. The turbo is pretty much on the upper end of its flow as it’s getting close to the 185K RPM limit. My engine bay looks very simple to this one. Lol
@@DSW_Racing Yes. You can get away with E40 on the HPFP just fine, but the injection window is pretty tight and there isn’t much headroom. I also like the idea of getting some fuel to the backside of the intake valves to help with carbon deposits. Also, for track days I like to run a bit more ethanol to help with the heat. I’m actually going to revert back to a stock HPFP with the MPI now installed.

What's the longevity on setups like this? Im looking at a car with 126k on it, same build but with a gt2260. My local Audi guy (Rathana at Ratified) is becoming a bit averse to big power ea888 builds. Both because of the eq250 and he said hes seen a couple with cylinder issues. But we've got some around here at 600hp.
if we could get the hatchback 8V (aside from the etron and 2.0 tdi) id be so happy. ive thought about looking for a TDI hatch that needs an engine/trans and swapping a 888.4 or maybe even the new HPA VR6, but money is a thing
If it's dyno'd on linked dyno to keep the car happy, then basically no different as the only time the rear wheels are engaged is if the front wheels are spinning (loss of traction).
1. No 2. You clearly don't understand how a Haldex based car work. A chassis dyno measures at the wheels, and our dyno displays the power measured at the wheels.
Hi, I have a MK7 R with the APR DTR6054 setup. My setup includes the HPFP and the LPFP from APR running on 93 octane. Mine dyno'd at 399whp. I am looking to go down the custom tune route from EQT, similar to what you've achieved here. Comparing your results to mine is very apples to oranges, considering the variance in fueling, and hardware.. so my results might vary, however adding that much power with just a custom tune is fantastic and very promising. Do you guys have any of this guys time slips from the 1/8th mile? Maybe a before and after? Did this car also get a DSG tune from EQT? Or stick with with APR one?
Very cool! When you guys originally dyno'd it with the APR tune, did you notice power output variances specifically dependent on the IATs? The reason I ask, during my experience with the turbo and APR tune, the performance varies drastically depending on IAT.@@COMotorsports

S3s are 4 wheel drive. From here, it looks as if the car you are modifying is an A3, not an S3. Would you please elaborate?
How much does the entire upgrades cost? If I were to go with a larger intercooler and an ACU and a TCU tune on the Audi (91 octane gas) how much more power will the car make at the wheels and what would be the estimated cost? I am considering doing that since we bought the S3 in October 2021, and by next October, the manufacturer warranty will be up.
Love and prefer a Golf R...I just sold my 2018 Golf R and went alt schule and got a 2004 MK4 Golf GtI 1.8T. I miss the 292 stock hp the golf R had. I'd like this MK4 to attain 350/400 HP....What would it take? What would you guys do to a GTI MK4 that only has had an air intake added to it in all its years and 18200 kms?
I like both the golf r and the s3 I honestly don’t think I prefer one over the other look wise. But practicality wise golf r is better due to being hatchback.

When it comes to the VAG cars, I definitely prefer the hatches and wagons. I'd love a Golf R, but a RS6 Avant is one of my halo cars. However, old Hondas I prefer the sedans - my 91 still being one of my favorite body styles. Angular, but rounded just enough to not look overly boxy, wonderful proportions...
Audi did North America a disservice by not offering the hatchback and manual transmissions. I love Audis, but I don’t see buying anything newer than about 2007.

I feel like golf R is just better value for what you get. You Get the Audi s3 if you want more luxurious ride. I own a mk6 R and a B7 A4. I want to replace my A4 with a newer A4.
not true at all, the Golf R comes at a premium price...the Golf R is considered the "top model" of all VWs, plus the demand, the price is approx. 5-8 grand more given the equivalent model audi S3, Golf R. The Audi S3 is definitely the better value. Ive driven both and shopped for both. Don't get me wrong, the Golf R is amazing as well , it will be a hair faster since it weighs about 300 lbs less.

500hp R, ultimate DD IMHO. That hatch practicality is hard to beat.

You're running MPI with the 2260?? I am just on upgraded HPFP only and run 400 whp on e40 with IE stage 3 tune.

No, he said that the upgraded turbo may use the stock downpipe, the car currently has a CTS downpipe. Hope that clears your question.

Still APR TCU Software, car just ran 7.3 in the 1/8th last weekend the exact way it's driven. He thinks there's a little more in it.

@@patrickpl94 so it is best to use cold air intake with DTR6054? Im on 91 map making 390whp with open air intake. iat was 45c-40c during dyno.

1.8ts are basically all the same. So the chassis their in is irrelevant. A big turbo 1.8t is a big turbo 1.8t.

Could have been the car, we did no stock dyno comparisons so we have nothing to go by for comparison hence why I didn't touch on it much.

APR coilpacks is a mod? And R over S3/A3 but VW treats it like some mythical creature and does not build nearly as many as the S3/A3 platform.
We've made well over 500whp on multiple cars with them, however stock work also.

That original whp is horrible. Hence it was tuned by Apr. unfortunately this turbo is only worth it if you don’t go with apr’s tune
