They didn't want to put this on the record at first because they played it so much prior to that but the label wanted them to put it on and it was their first single. This song brings me back to early high school!

That effect you were talking about going around your head, i believe he used whats called a Phase shifter or a flanger, both are somewhat similar. But that on/off guitar effect is a tremelo effect but its unlike anything ive heard because his sound was like a true hard on and off sound, where normal tremelo doesnt cut the entire signal off. I've never been able to pinpoint it but he might be using some sort of hard gate to cut the signal everytime the tremelo brings the volume "off". Its a very unique sound and he only used it in this song.

I know I’m late… but you should look into all the spin off bands of all the members of the band…. Endless amount of stuff … all with a touch of Sevendust but their own thing
You should check out hed PE. They’re from around the same time period as Sevendust. They also have the rap/rock mix, except more on the rap side vocally. This was the first song I heard from them. Sheesh, I hate fan made music videos. Like, I’m watching this, or something like Wolf Moon by Type O and they just have these weird pics of random women. And then they focus on the women or whatever else they have in their lyric video, and make the lyrics in some weird font or make them really small or blend in with the background so that you can barely feckin read ‘em!… sorry, I just had to vent.
