Just earned a new listener, so far I’m loving what I hear, I remember back in the day in like 06-07 when Nine Lashes and Winters Halo(among a ton of other bands would come play our small rinky dink “venue” call The Rock of Andrews NC and I fell in love with the genre then) I still keep in touch with the guys from Nine Lashes and Winters Halo and a couple other bands. Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed your music and look forward to more!
Warmed my atheist heart seeing how receptive they were overall, great mix of different subgenres. Might not connect with the messages of the songs, but they were all bangers.
My mom is a 72 year old southern Baptist who never listened to anything harder than the Carpenters. Her favourite bands are Casting Crowns and ABBA. She thinks Mick Jagger is posessed. Somehow, thru her ahowing me a little grace and maintaining an open mind, I've made an enthusiastic metalhead out of her over the past year. I started with Amon Amarth -"Free Will Sacrifice", and was shocked when her eyes went wide and she goes "you're not going to believe this, but I LOVE it!" Anyway, she's heard Synestia, Architects, Phinehas, Lorna Shore, Omnium Gatherum, Archenemy, Sleeping Giant, Orbit Culture, and dozens of other ones, and loved them all. I think modern Christians are far more obsessed with the concept of "niceness", than passion for their faith. Stuff like Phinehas gets me pumped for my God. I picture David's passion as he danced and sang for the Lord.
same, i feel that you don't even need to be religious to understand and get emotional when listening to the song i would know cause i'm not religious at all
And there I was waiting for this comment. While Lorna Shore is one of my favourite bands, I think you missed the point of this video. All these bands were Christian and/or having said themes in their songs. Lorna Shore has nothing to do with worshipping god. More importantly, I am certain that bands were chosen carefully to show publicly more acceptable metal music even though there were some heavier examples for sure. Still, at least in the beginning it was incrementally getting heavier while also being acceptable.
May be hard to pull off, but try this at a Classical music conservatory sometime. Or maybe an urban high school with a bunch of hip-hop kids. Those are a couple of fun suggestions.
I know alot of christians who would condemn this type of music simply because of how it sounds. They fail to realize the genre is simply a vehicle to convey a message. You can get your message to a completely different sect of people by using different methods. I think its incredible.
I legit never comment on any social media or RUclips posts, but this was an amazing video to watch and fills me with hope. I have been listening to Christian hard rock/heavy metal for as long as I can remember and was always viewed as weird because I liked the music. The earliest heavy song I remember listening to on repeat was "Savior" by Skillet cause it was on a "WOW" album. I went to the closest Christian bookstore to buy the full album "Collide" and loved every. single. song. I must have been 11 or 12 at the time. Cut to a couple years later in 8th grade and my buddy burned me a disc with a ton of Christian metal bands. I don't remember all of them, but the two that stood out to me was "Forever" by As I lay Dying and "Where Moth and Rust Destroy" by Tourniquet. I was also learning how to play drums at the time, so listening to and playing these songs became a lot of fun. Those two songs changed my musical journey because I no longer viewed that type of music as "screaming," but rather "passionate." I learned that I can no longer listen to contemporary pop, rap, etc. music because listening to heavy metal forced me to read the lyrics to the song as it was playing and understand the message they are spreading. When I look at the lyrics of a lot of today's popular songs, I become disheartened at what is being pushed into the mainstream. I believe that a lot of people purely listen to the beat/tempo of the song without taking a look at the lyrics. "Hey Ya!" by Outkast is a perfect example of this: I really like the song, but they intentionally made a lyrically depressing song surrounded by up-tempo/happy instruments to prove people only care about the beat. Today, I almost exclusively listen to Fit for a King, August Burns Red, Memphis May Fire, The Devil Wears Prada, Wage War, War of Ages, Wolves at the Gate, Demon Hunter, As I lay Dying, and more. I am so glad that I found your channel because now I get to be introduced to more bands! I just want to mention one more thing: "Epilogue" by Mouth of the South was one of the few times I can remember where I had an intense emotional experience listening to it. I was listening to my Spotify radio and putting together a dresser for my son's room when it came on. I didn't pay it much attention cause I was focused on building the dresser, but then the bridge of the song came up and I started focusing in on the lyrics. I stopped what I was doing and restarted the song, and by the time the song was over I had tears welling up. What a beautiful song and I am so glad you had the members of Heritage Church listen to it. Their response to that was awesome. Especially the girl's response, because what she said hit home for me: that song is a full-on worship song for me. You've earned a sub from me. Keep up the awesome content!
Sooo glad you added Wolves at the Gate. Their music has touched me more than any other band, and gets me very emotional every time! All the songs were good, great selection! Might I recommend some Phinehas in the next one?! Thank you for doing this and God bless!
As a Christian metalhead this was so cool to see. Definitely adding some of these songs to my playlist. Also I'd be so down to do this if you came to my church 😂
Aw, no Diamonds to Dust? Pronouncement of the King would’ve been perfect for this (although it would be really fun to hit them with one of the crazier ones, Corpus Christi’s breakdown is INSANE and would probably make for a funny reaction 😂) Love these videos!
Mmmm love how Mouth of the South's "Transparency" made it on this! The way they close with "Epilogue" on tour is so moving... Miss those dudes. Ending with "The Epigone" was appropriate. "Terminate Damnation" was an amazing album! ......... "NOTHING, CAN STAND... IN YOUR WAY!"
me who lives in fall branch reading this. to many people in JC now, man. driving through there is not fun anymore. Didnt like it whne I had to pick up my composite decking projects in JC.
Wolves at the Gate was my gateway back into Christian metal and was honestly an answered prayer. (Funny enough it was Peace that starts the War) I was wandering for quite a while and enjoyed metal since I was a teen. After rededicating my life to Christ I just asked " I really enjoy this type of music but , I will give it to you if I need to " and soon after I found a whole bunch of new bands to jam to. Bloodlines is also a fav because bangers and gotta rep Texas 😂😂. Thank you for bringing greatness forward
I wouldve like to seen some heavier stuff, like meshuggah, vildhjarta, After the Burial, or Darko US, I literally didn't know any of the bands you showed 😭
bro, you just throw darko US at the Christian NORMIES, of all things. When you introduce people to metal. there should always be metal core. of course heavier stuff is fine, but theyre Christians. Gotta know your audience,. homie.
P.S. That Unworthy song was SICK. Gotta get that on the playlist. You're doing the Lord's work, my man - go forth and make some more metalheads for Christ!
Mouth of the South..... feels and sounds like how I pray to God in my head. And I'm not green to Christian metal or metal generally, but that one choked me up a bit, ngl 😅🥲
Love the content and every now and then hear a band or song I haven’t heard/heard in a bit and love that. One I think may get a mix of reactions but may be a good breath while still being a heavier song would be Salty Grave by Life In Your Way.
I know this is posteriori - but I would've suggested you try some Orphaned Land, which is Middle-Eastern metal revolving around biblical stories and interesting compositions. Would've worked perfect for this one, but since it is already over and done - I would recommend you try them out and find out for yourself!
bro, that high fry scream on meet your maker was absolutely nuts. and to people thinking screaming is mean things. screaming can be a form of desperation. anyone screamed in desperation. there is diverse emotionality in screams.
I Love the Album „There will be Violence“ by Impending Doom. Their most Metalcoreish album. Brook Reves has such an intense voice, especially with this kind of lyrics , it is very intense.
Amazing video! Brings me joy to see people listen to metal without being too exposed to it! For Today would have fit in this or Memphis May Fire as well. I’m super stoked to see people appreciate metal music! Looking forward to the next one 💪🏻

This is cool. Always fun to see how people react to more harsh music if it's not what they're accustomed to. I'm always trying to find artists that have more of a Tesseract or Soen (prog metal) vibes but with a Christian message.
This video was great and the song choices were great, I understand some of them not liking certain songs or just not a song they would relax to also I like how you do these videos because they are fun to do keep up the awesome work
Next video you do of commenters submissions can you add Glass Casket - In Between The Sheets to the playlist? The breakdown and buildup in the middle/towards the end of that song is so beautiful and amazing. Still to this day one of my favorite songs ever.
Christian and a huge fan of Stoner, Sludge, Doom and and sort of Prog Metal, favorites include, Sleep Electric Wizard, Ayreon, Candle Mass, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me and Om.
Wolves at the Gate was definitely a good call. There was too much stuff with just brutal screaming though; you can't expect non-metal listeners to get down with that. I listen to metal and even I struggle with only screaming. More variety would've been good. Throw in some My Epic, some Project 86 (not Omni lol), "Tithemi" by Sleeping Giant would've been great! I'd have loved to see reactions to "Tithemi", or "Lower Still" by My Epic
There were some pretty cool songs musically on this list. I am the opposite to the younger guy with the "faith" shirt, though. I do like the music, I am just not into the lyrics personally. But the music is really good. Interesting to see this side of metal. Thanks for that👍
This is awesome! As a religious person who is also a fan of metal it’s always nice to hear what people of similar religious standpoints to me have to say about some of the music I enjoy listening to. Awesome content as always!
I grew up a metalhead my whole life at the age of 7, I'm 33 now and I have been a Christian for 5 years, I love Jesus and I am saved... Recently I've been showing some of my Christian friends some metal music, one of which really enjoys it now, after him realizing a lot of the lyrics are actually good and talk about real things and the lyrics can be very uplifting. Whether that's Christian metal bands or not. By the way I also do vocals, I've been doing metal vocals for almost 12 years. I'm currently studying to be a pastor though. A lot of people have the wrong idea of what metal is unfortunately, Christian or not, religious or not etc. metal has helped more people than any other type of music in my opinion. ~ good video
Everytime you use a BtA song, I will comment my appreciation. I could have sworn he says "you are ever worthy of veneration" instead of "adoration", but I see all the lyrics sites say differently. I swear I hear veneration though.
I love this channel but this video probably should’ve been half the length, they all shared similar repetitive reactions. I still watched to the end and love what you’re doing here to expand the fan base and broaden horizons!
You’d be surprised. I’m Christian and I absolutely love metal, hardcore and punk. Most Christian metal bands were influenced by secular metal bands. I’d even go as far to say that even some secular metal bands were influenced by Christian bands. August burns red and impending doom would be a good example of that I feel
Crazy to see MOTS on these. Some of their first shows were at my old church’s venue and I went to one of the original guitarist’s weddings. To be honest, I didn’t know they still made music, major flashbacks though. Good stuff!
My top christian metal bands for today, abated the flesh, impending doom, veni domine, in the midst of lions, sleeping giant, frost like ashes, taking the head of Goliath, august burns red 🤘✝️🤘
You shoulda done demon hunter too! They are my favorite Christian metal band! It is also funny because my youth pastor is who made me a metal head after trying to get me to listen for years!
how did oh, sleeper or saving grace not make the list! not to mention some the greats like old ABR and in the midst of lions or for today and sleeping giant lol good stuff though.
Born and Raised Catholic myself, but I've listened to Metal since 1986/87. I even got into Death Metal by 1990. But I got into the Big 4 of Thrash first thing. (I think it should have been the Big 8, which includes Exodus, Flotsam & Jetsam, OverKill, and Testament.) The whole pigeonholing of what kind of music one enjoys by their religious or non-religious beliefs is kinda stupid, imo. People like what they like based on a lot of factors. For me it was the instrumentals of Metal. Not the songs, but the way the bands arranged their songs that grabbed me. I used to play air bass to every song... Still do actually at nearly 51 years old. I love my Metal and will listen to it till the day that I die. But here's the deal. Many people don't really know or understand what the roots of Metal are. And if they did, I almost guarantee more people would listen to it. Those roots are Classical Music, and The Blues. The instrumentation is the Classical Music part. Aside from the really heavy and brutal Hardcore Metal, the guitar work in a lot of Metal is spectacular and could be envisioned as being played by an Orchestra. It's no wonder Symphonic Orchestra backings go so well with certain styles of Metal. The second root, The Blues is more about lyric content and the vocal delivery thereof. Just listen to your favorite Metal and you can start to see how the vocals have this bluesy atmosphere about them.
Love my Prayer Circle Pit Metal. However I feel you didn't do @ConvictionsRock justice. "Sleeping Lotus" probably would have been the best song to go with these other selections.
Thanks for letting us be apart. Appreciate what you are doing!

The Helix, 2005, or Resistance all from Hands would be cool to see someone hear for the first time.
I love this channel but this video probably should’ve been half the length, they all shared similar repetitive reactions. I still watched to the end and love what you’re doing here to expand the fan base and broaden horizons!
I'd have liked to see them introduced to more of a variety of metal as it's not all with harsh vocals....
never heard Unworthy, that went hard
Thank you so much!
Good stuff!
They've been inactive for a while. They changed their name to Rival Choir and put out one album under that name (amazing album btw) then broke up
My top christian metal bands for today, abated the flesh, impending doom, veni domine, in the midst of lions, sleeping giant, frost like ashes, taking the head of Goliath, august burns red 🤘✝️🤘
Started following you just to find new Christian metalcore and have discovered so many great bands
YES! Love that shirt
I'd lowkey like to see Suicide Silence's Unanswered, Thy Art is Murder 'Holy War' or anything by Behemoth\Batushka 😁
dude that IMG 2 step hit me in the face
I think you should show some War of Ages or As I lay dying. Or even Phineas
You didn't show them Red? Good reactions though.
You should put some war of ages in there next time and some fit for a king both of my favorite Christian metal bands of all them
You shoulda done demon hunter too! They are my favorite Christian metal band! It is also funny because my youth pastor is who made me a metal head after trying to get me to listen for years!
With this video title I expacted Powerwolf "Resurrection ...". ^^
how did oh, sleeper or saving grace not make the list! not to mention some the greats like old ABR and in the midst of lions or for today and sleeping giant lol good stuff though.
Great choice playing “The Epigone.” Terminate Damnation totally flipped my perspective one what Christian Metal could be.
Love my Prayer Circle Pit Metal. However I feel you didn't do @ConvictionsRock justice. "Sleeping Lotus" probably would have been the best song to go with these other selections.
Shout out to the Jocko fuel sticker
