Not just Tiktok itself, but this entire "tiktoker" era has let so many terrible people get undeserved attention. We live in an age where narcissism isn't just accepted, it's borderline encouraged. It's nice that a few people get called out on their shit, but this happens way too damn much.
The people in the gym either do things to purposely get attention like slam weights, scream, stunts, or wear extremely tight clothing, or are literally doing nothing at all, staring at their phones. How hard is it to leave your phone in the car, go to the gym with a written plan, execute the plan, and leave within an hour and a half? America is so obese, and its people's attitudes that are having the biggest impact on health and fitness in general.
I'm gonna sound crazy but as far as I know I'm speaking the truth and even have evidence for my claims if it's needed by anyone to look it up and see for themselves, but that's because tiktok is a literal Chinese info weapon used to make the west's youth dumber and less effective adults 😅 In China, their tiktok shows science, art, and just overall just learning and creative stuff, but we are shown that you can be "famous" for being a bad person who wastes food, hurts others, ect. and they don't even make any real money from it all. They are taught to be assholes for moneyless clout by tiktok. Tiktok really needs to go the way of vine asap.
actually, ‘going to jail for staring at an under aged 21 year old’ is such a perfect representation of how people these days are desperate to manipulate a situation to fit their narrative

But MOST are going because they ARE CHASING MALE ATTENTION and looking for a man. They literally have videos about it on tiktok. Men avoid their usual spots so they dress in leggings and a bikini to attract a man.
I saw one record herself on the side of a British road doing jumping Jack's and squats and getting angry that a man in a van driving past glanced at her for like a second trying to make out his a creep going on about how this is something women have to put up with... Ignoring the fact that when driving a vehicle on the road... You HAVE to be aware of your surroundings as it's called spacial awerness. Most people called her out and of course, she made her profile private. Men... Checking their surroundings when driving a dangerous moving vechile and observing pedestrians so he doesn't end up hurting one... Yep.. Defo creep 🙄🤦 If I was driving and saw someone doing jumping Jack's near the road I'm driving past. I'd probably be aware of them because they could fall over on the road.
TikTok has officially destroyed our social skills to the point where people make videos like this thinking that they are being harassed when, in fact, they are experiencing the absolute bare minimum of human interaction, if you can even call it interaction.
This happened to me once at the gym when I was still a newbie. A very old male was looking at me as I was using some equipment, and ofc I was weirded out. After about 5 minutes of occasionally watching me work out, he came over and told me “you’re doing it wrong” and showed me the proper technique. I was grateful because I didn’t get hurt from using the equipment wrong. Seriously, sometimes men just want to help out.
@Anthony Fernandez Mansplaining is where men automatically assume a woman doesn’t know something without any evidence to support that assumption and proceeds to explain in detail often in a condescending manner without bothering to ask if they want/need said explanation. The OP in this case did show that they didn’t know what they were doing therefore the man going over to correct it is not mansplaining. You actually have to be pretty obnoxious in order to qualify for the mansplaining category.

And every time i even look at someone i feel wrong just because of what the internet had programmed into me... Inbetween sets i end up just staring at walls, or the floor, or my phone... Honestly, it should be normal to be able to look around, especially if someone is going to hurt themselves, i would 100% want someone to look over in my direction if i was about to hurt myself. Its just people caring.... Honestly, no wonder people dont want to enter the gym
I feel embarrassed even when I have my camera faced toward me for a Snapchat response .. I don’t get how people are able to just openly film other people .. they are the gym creeps for doing that.
I agree with you on the feeling of getting someone filmed just because they happen to be there, but at the end of the day a gym is a common area, depends on the rules of each gym you can record there. On the other hand the "social media gym culture" has derived from what it actually is
Agree with the weird feeling. The only time I have felt using a camera is fine is your bud like filming a pr or something for form. Usually it’s toward the rack with no one else in the shot or with no focus of anyone else. It’s a weird fad that has come up now.
The term "snowflake" gets thrown around so much to the point it's lost most of its meaning, but it sure as fucking hell applies real nicely to this bitch
I’ve seen people joking online for a while claiming to be adult age minors so at first I thought she’s joking and maybe she is but sometimes it’s easy to forget some people do think like this. Like those jokes started for a reason. I knew a guy who claimed just because he was 25 didn’t mean he was an adult Edit: for the folks saying he was right, unless you’re in the sort of transition point between teenager and adult you can’t pretend you’re not actually an adult just because you don’t feel like one. They're gonna have to create 2 sides of the gym. The one side that turns it into a TV set with all the Tik Toks & pictures and videos and the other side that actually just wants to exercise and get tf outta there.
I hate how Tik Tok trends turn polite and genuine people into creeps, and the whole mess discourages people from interacting with someone for fear of being ridiculed or accused of harassment. this is a whole new level of bullying and I REALLY hate it

Fun fact.. if you're not participating in Social Media you will never know they do that. It's like a conversation they have in their head. It doesn't matter, lol.
Another thing both Joey and Charlie haven’t brought up is that these people might have whole ass stands, lights, duffel bags, and some may even have cameras instead of a phone. Having a whole ass movie set for your lifts is going to bring attention to you.
@@nymade4130 This. These types of people act like people simply looking in their general direction is a crime, yet seem to go out of their way to be the biggest attention grabber in a 100-mile radius. Clothes are never an excuse for actually bad behavior, but if you're wearing the bare minimum with a full-on movie setup around you in a public place, people are gonna look in your general direction from time to time, and that's not a crime.
Another thing i don't get is why they need to wear the tightest cloth possible. Like DUH a guy might glance at you. Those women shouldn't be allowed to wear that to a gym. Imagine a guy wearing such tight shorts . Guys also just want to focus without having visual distraction right in front of them.
this happened to a friend of mine, some girl approached him and asked him to stop being a creep when he literally just had his headphones in and was getting through his workout as normal. he's a regular at that gym and is there 4-5 times a week, there was literally nothing special about this person that had him doing anything but his usual 50-min routine. honestly some people really need to work on themselves rather than focus on being the center of their own universe
yea social media, mainly tiktok imo, has made so many people feel so entitled. ur right like just focus on yourself and stop craving attention my goodness
@Robert Joseph Most likely. I’m so disgusted with my generation. I feel so distant from people as is. I would apologise on behalf of Gen Z, but I don’t give enough damns about Gen Z to even want to associate myself with it more than I have to. Fuck the way this society is going…and people said Millennials were too much…
And many of them don't seem to aware what they doing is bad/wrong, and post it to mass. Which is somewhat a good thing, public notice it fast and call them.
As someone with social anxiety, this is the kind of stuff I think always goes through people's heads if I ever acknowledge their existence with a glance. Knowing that there are people out there like this makes it worse for me
I'm with you on that! Worries me everytime I make eye contact with someone! "Do they think I was staring at them when I just glanced over? Do they think I'm a creep now cause of that?!"

I even heard about a blind guy that was accused of staring at a gym. After he told her and the one of the staff members that he wasn't staring because he was blind they were still outraged.
The Blind Surfer Pete Gustin? He recounted a story like this, said he even presented them with proof he's blind (some sort of ID card IIRC), and the manager said something like "well you still can't make people uncomfortable by staring at them". When he literally cannot even tell if he's staring at someone.
Stuff like this pisses me off because real harassment is still a thing. Some gyms will inevitably have creepy people. Setting up fake scenarios for clout does nothing but laugh in the face of people's actual experiences.
Yeah, it’s this horrid trend we’ve reached of people online essentially fantasising about being SA/SH victims and making up these wildly exaggerated situations in their head, but also POSTING THEM ONLINE? Like how braindead and insulting can you be?

Well I think that taking photos in the gym while you pose is a good thing so that you can track your progress and gives you more self esteem, of course always with respect of others
It’s more weird that she’s talking to herself. He was probably wondering who she was talking to or if she was talking to him. Plus some of the stuff she was whispering like “feral, feral, feral, f*cking feral” absolutely would garner some attention from anyone within hearing distance. Not to mention that but anyone filming kinda gets your attention anyway because you wonder what they’re doing, if you’re in the shot, etc.
This is part of the reason the gym I go to has a very strict "No filming or recording" clause with their membership. If you're caught filming for any reason, you can be banned, and I have actually seen this happen. it sucks to see this happen at the gym, a place where people are going to literally better themselves and they can't even do that without this kind of shit happening.
I honestly think its soo weird when people film themselves in changing rooms, like even if im done changing i still don't wanna end up on a random persons tiktok, the girls in my class constantly film in the changing rooms and get mad when smb confronts them
it really doesn't tho,all its doing is pointing out the chronically online women that want attention. how would someone that's actualy a creep get taken less seriously
Honestly the guy getting called out for being new and not knowing how to act is a source of my own anxiety. I've only ever done workouts at home because I'm afraid I'll step on toes or come across as the new weirdo just for wandering around. I'm glad to see the behaviour is being called out and hopefully addressed in the community
Don't be fooled to think this behavior is new, rampant and accepted in the gym. Many of the swole guys who show empathy and compassion at the gym have the best attitude because they too understand how it is to be that new small/skinny person at the gym. Also at this point many of us who are respectful at the gym are just going to put on our headphones and mind our own business unless something major comes up.
No one actually acts like this, that’s why these videos blow up whenever someone acts like a gym Karen. Because it’s not normal. And even if you were to step on somebody’s toes, most people wouldn’t mind. There’s no time limit, if you have to wait an extra minute because someone took your weight or is in your way, most people wouldn’t care enough to tell you off.
I once was staring cause I needed a spot and I wanted to ask but I was getting weird vibes just for doing that so I asked the dude on my right who helped me in two seconds and the interaction was done. I think these people are so self centered and used to social media attention that they think everyone wants them.

I've seen people lose thier job over less.
The thing I find mind boggling in these situations is that the people say they are uncomfortable with being observed, yet the majority have a camera pointed directly at their behind.

A girl actually did this in my local fitness world. And everyone and I MEAN EVERYONE looked at her with the faces of disgust. As a very small 17 year old girl myself, it totally makes sense to feel a little intimidated by bigger grown men who you don't know. It is not their fault that they LOOK intimidating to you though. They did nothing to deserve being accused of harassment for simply being in the same room as you. If you are uncomfortable, you leave. Go somewhere else. It was weird how these girls didn't just get up and leave. These men are not "feral", "weirdos", and they don't deserve to get their "pp ripped out" for simply existing. Agree completely. Or you know what? Instead of stewing in that weird social anxiety and trying to read super deep into the kinesics of guys you haven’t even shared a sentence with, try to clear the air and say something to relieve that stress. People these days are so entitled to think they don’t need to start social engagement. You’re the one dealing with all of this anxiety around people. Deal with it yourself and don’t stew in hate and think you’re at odds with someone constantly. Those people don’t CARE about you enough to even formulate an opinion of you. As many things these days, this video points out how social media has boosted narcissism in people. This lady is off her rocker. And maybe it would have happened regardless if she didn’t have a little audience for her to constantly reaffirm her misguided warped view of the world, but it definitely didn’t make it any better.
As a 16 year old girl, I feel so anxious around adult men 😭 I know not every stranger adult guy is a weirdo but still they’re so intimidating. But yeah I don’t accuse people of being pedophiles for looking at me. Instead I just go to ‘women only’ gyms and avoid unneeded interaction
In every sport I've been practicing, boxing, judo, free diving everyone has been very welcoming and helpful to new people who wants to try it out. I've only been to a gym a couple of times and the staff has been like that. The people who goes to gyms are more reserved but very polite and helpful if I talked to someone. I think the difference is that you get to know everyone in your sports club quite fast but at the gym they don't have that club thing. When you don't know the people you workout with I guess it becomes natural to throw glances at the big or beautiful men and women rather than talk to them as colleagues.

The fact that she says "He should go to jail for staring at an underaged 21-year-old" makes less sense when you consider that even if she was 16 or 17, nothing he does is inherently creepy either in that case. He is not asking for her age, asking her out, or even staring. He is just treating her like a normal patron at a gym indiscriminate of age/gender.

I also want to kinda point something out as someone who’s seen filming in gyms. The people filming aren’t covertly doing it they often have a tripod rig set up for stability. So sometimes you might look at the rig and see it’s filming a person and subconsciously because of that you tend to look at what the person is doing. The gender Doesn’t matter
Not to mention most of the clips had the girls' ass displayed loud and proud for the camera. Not to say there's anything wrong with that but if you're talking about how much you hate people "looking at you" yet you post clips to the internet with your ass as the main focal point. I can promise you're going to get 10x the sexual harassment you thought you were getting in the gym on the internet. I'm not trying to debate whether that's right or wrong I just have a hard time believing someone in this instance. This sucks because I'm sure sexual harassment has happened with the girl in a provocative position like that. However the more of these I see the more I tend to lean towards it's just the trendy new thing to do VS that guy is fucked up and needs to be kicked out.
Also i kinda get when people just glance over ur chilling working out suddenly u notice a tripod and camera pointing ur way last thing u wanna do is get all nervous and mess up thinking it can go online (prolly just me I have social anxiety and get nervous when cameras are pointing at me)

When the gym is even moderately busy, it's almost impossible NOT to look like you're staring at people. Unless you stare at the ceiling or the floor, you're going to be looking at someone.
I'm also just tired of people equating looking at someone to harassment or sexual misconduct. More often than not, people using this line of thinking are full of shit. I'd say someone looking at you is only harassment in very specific contexts.

The scariest part of this is that they've filmed it so that people could recognize the guys irl, and didn't even consider blocking out the faces for their privacy. Just think, anyone could film you in any location (even a locker room/bathroom) at any time without even caring about your consent, and your face could be plastered all over Tiktok and the rest of the internet without your knowledge.
That’s sadly very common. There was one years ago of kids who filmed a fast food worker and claimed she was being rude to them. This poor girl (who was only 2 or 3 years older than the teens) was mocked for a while till someone told her about it and she made her own tiktok claiming the kids were being disrespectful and with proof. If no one had told her she might have continued being mocked. Or people found out who she was and went to make fun of her. That’s just one of the first I remember happening

I always planned to have a home gym in the future, but about 2 years ago I started compiling equipment because I just couldn’t stand public gyms anymore. I miss the gym camaraderie between the 95% of people who are good people just getting their workout in. It’s that new 5% who’ve absolutely poisoned everything
As an extremely shy gym bro, I have always been terrified of someone even thinking I'm looking at them while there. To think I could be considered a creep by everyone at the gym I go to all the time for getting a towel to wipe my machine is awful af
Ah well ngl you just have to stop caring about what others do think. It’s that simple. Whatever your gym goal , all the other eyes in the gym can be watching but at the end of the day , do what you came to do , which is get in shape. Take whatever anxiety you have and use it as fuel, if they want to watch fine, let their states be the thing that turn you into a Greek god in front of them
dont worry bro, most people dont care about you in the GYM because they are focused with their goals. to be considered a creep you would need to be caught staring like 5+ times the same person
@@apokkalyps6 i think the joke is he's saying he's underage at 40 which means he's more than wrong which means by approving the apology he says the girl is dumb
What else are you supposed to do at a gym, they’re also looking around watching other people and ACTIVELY JUDGING THEM. Also some of these people bring ring lights to record so like obviously you’re gonna stare in confusion. Another thing I’ve learned from people talking about delivering presentations is that people can look over a crowd and it will look like they’re looking into it at the people when in reality they’re staring at the back wall
As a 32 year old woman who has been a gym member since I was a teenager, you know what the best way to get ignored by other people in the gym is? Ignoring everyone yourself, and putting your attention 100% on your workout. Sometimes I notice people looking but it's none of my business if they are. If someone tries to talk to me, I answer politely but keep my headphones in and quickly go back to my workout and 99% of people will understand I'm not interested in being social. I'm certainly not going to try and "catch" people looking at me, cause that will only invite more attention.
I say 80% of people in the gym go there just to get their workout in and get out. They have a life outside that they want to get back to. You can't help but look in someone's general direction when you're at the gym. It full of people , it's unavoidable you're gonna look at someone, at least in their general direction. People are gonna look but many just give a quick glance and get back to whatever they are doing.
Lol problem is you’re female and you’d be lying if you say you didn’t go looking some type was to show “I look good” otherwise I equally doubt you’d be hitting the gym Now it’s pretty obvs which females want to be seen. I have seen some with CRAZY sweet bodies and they wear loose sweat pants and big shirts. No, they’re not fat or skinny. They just don’t want or need the attention on their body, you know they know they look good and don’t need to flaunt it. Then you have the other group who looks half naked or like they want see someone to pick them up at the gym (like these females complaining and filming themselves) and then wonder why people staring at them - 2 reasons, to check you out or to think “wow it’s a gym not a hookup bar” Clearly no female can act like “it’s just clothes” because then we wouldn’t have 2 groups behaving differently and treated differently. I mean those girls type to walk outside coochie and tatas hanging out and expect no one to bat an eye 😅😂

TikTok has officially destroyed our social skills to the point where people make videos like this thinking that they are being harassed when, in fact, they are experiencing the absolute bare minimum of human interaction, if you can even call it interaction.

This happened to me once at the gym when I was still a newbie. A very old male was looking at me as I was using some equipment, and ofc I was weirded out. I was grateful because I didn’t get hurt from using the equipment wrong. Seriously, sometimes men just want to help out.
That's called "mansplaining" it this day and age. Let them get hurt instead 💀

What i remind myself is only i know what my intentions are. So whatever false judgements people may make, i realize that i am above them
You should stop worrying about what women think, man
You are allowed to look at me huffing and puffing trying to get my hunt away

Underaged 32 year old.*
Lol problem is you’re female and you’d be lying if you say you didn’t go looking some type was to show “I look good” otherwise I equally doubt you’d be hitting the gym
Now it’s pretty obvs which females want to be seen. I have seen some with CRAZY sweet bodies and they wear loose sweat pants and big shirts. No, they’re not fat or skinny. They just don’t want or need the attention on their body, you know they know they look good and don’t need to flaunt it.
Then you have the other group who looks half naked or like they want see someone to pick them up at the gym (like these females complaining and filming themselves) and then wonder why people staring at them - 2 reasons, to check you out or to think “wow it’s a gym not a hookup bar”
Clearly no female can act like “it’s just clothes” because then we wouldn’t have 2 groups behaving differently and treated differently.
I mean those girls type to walk outside coochie and tatas hanging out and expect no one to bat an eye 😅😂

Her apology is even more despicable and all to avoid being canceled. She only did it because so many people called her out.

I mean you can’t get any more honest than that. If she said anything else it would clearly be a lie as she had no fuckin clue before. So I liked her apology
Yes, and the ‘underage 21-yo’ thing is an ‘inside joke’, she later said. I’m not in the TikTok incrowd I’d guess 😂

Yeah, it’s this horrid trend we’ve reached of people online essentially fantasising about being SA/SH victims and making up these wildly exaggerated situations in their head, but also POSTING THEM ONLINE? Like how braindead and insulting can you be?
thank you glad this comment isn't buried this is what i'm thinking this is gonna reverse us back to the creeps creeping and getting excused, because now glancing is creeping.
also theyre the ones with the creepy behavior. Filming others without their consent is an invasion of privacy.
I think some people are just oversensitized. I'm not trying to protect the women in these videos but what I would like to mention is that women are faced with actual harrassment quite frequently which can cause a high sensitivity to situation that seem somewhat similar to their previous experiences.
I noticed this with my girlfriend too, she doesn't like it but she can't help herself thinking like that impulsively. Obviously she doesnt make videos of these people and shames them though, lol.

It might be because making videos like these gets them attention, which is the goal. Just a thought.

These *women
As someone with social anxiety, I already worried about being accused of acting odd before when people minded their own business. Now that they're looking for people to accuse of "weird" behaviour, it does not make me feel good.
Yeah in high school I was terrified and hyper aware of where I was looking so no one thought I was staring. I got over it when I realized nobody actually looks at me that closely or cares. But in these videos we find out some weirdos do...
Exactly bro, these trends aren't helping
I have social anxiety too and sometimes I don't know how to behave with other people. It doesn't help when now everyone has become an expert at "body language" and just go out their way to say people like me are just weirdos. Like no Susan, I have no social skills whatsoever but I was trying to be friendly and kind.
Reason why I quit the gym. Had the feeling that people were judging me constantly which fed the social anxiety to new levels. Now I just stay inside and use weights I bought online.
I have really shitty social anxiety and social skills - but seeing narcissists filming others without their knowledge in public places with the intent to post them on the internet makes me figure I'm not doing too bad.
Ironically, Jessica has made the rest of us more uncomfortable in the gym than she was
