I got my magazine on Friday. I want to make the zipped top too. Looks amazing. The chiffon blouse is difficulty 1 so super easy. Make both it and the skirt! 🥳
@@sewscape Oh no! I'm making a toile this weekend so I'll see how it goes for me and get back to you. I'm all over the place with Burda patterns since they dont' give finished measurements which is how I mostly choose a size with other pattern companies. I've even tried measuring the pattern pieces but I'm clearly bad with a measuring tape. HAHA
I decided to make the 123 top with the keyhole in front and back. I'm in between an 8 and 10. I was very careful to trace out the 10 (after reading your comment), adding the right seam allowance and sticking to them while sewing. There is no ease at all. I can get it zipped up but it is tight enough in the bust that I can see the serged edge on the front facing. 🤣 The way they did the neckline is crap. Took a while to figure it out and honestly just should have done bias bound. It is very bulky and doesn't lay flat. In other words, it's a hot mess!!! Also very glad I know the burrito method. That is the construction but there is nothing about flipping it right side out. It is only a 2 difficulty so one would have thought there would have been a couple more lines of instruction. It is a really lovely top though.
Hi Carli! I've been getting my Burda Magazine for about 6 months now. Thanks to your videos on tackling these book style patterns, I have finally decided to try the #120 top. I don't know how you do it!! You make it look so easy! The tracing was so frustrating for me and took forever. At one point I was tracing my size but on the wrong pieces, even though they were the same blue. All that criss crossing was making me go cross eyed! I have the pattern cut out, but had to put the whole thing away for now. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished top and to see if the sizing was accurate or if you needed to make a lot of fitting adjustments. I'm only 5'2.5" and wonder if the waist line will be too low. Thanks!
Hi Rita! I ended up making the top(without the lining) and abandoned the project. I almost never do this but the peplum was skin tight! I have a rounder tummy these days so I would have to make an adjustment to the peplum to make it wearable, but I have no more fabric or seam allowance left to let it out. I would say with your version to make sure the size you are making coincides with all body measurements (not just bust and waist). My upper body is a size 42 but my lower body is a size 46, so it was my own error.
Me again! For that gorgeous chiffon, I would not line it. I'd wear a silky cami underneath in a similar color. Or different to match a predominant color you have in whatever bottoms you're wearing. Just my 2 cents worth.
I was just wondering when I would see a video from you. Love your uniquely Burda approach to sewing.
Thanks so much 😊

I started on the zip top today but really struggled with the bust seam, it also feels quite small so I wonder if I traced the wrong size 😂

Do the top with the blue fabric. I think it will look stunning!
I think so too!

@@sewscape Thanks so much Carli. I appreciate it. It's so pretty, so I probably will try a toil for this one.

That’s a great idea!
