The graduation dress has a sweet heart neckline and is designed to be fitted on the bust and waist, while looser from the hips downwards. The skirt of the midi dress is bell shaped, which gives the dress a nice drape without needing to be bias cut (thus saving fabric and money).
This pattern consists of only two panels (no darts or closures) which makes it the perfect DIY sewing project for beginners!

This is so beginner friendly, it has all the needed notes. I love it.
yes, lovely
i dunno, i got lost a bit
but it was pretty beginno friendly
how to fix it if it's not well fitted, how to sew it (wrong sides or wat). i'm talkin' BEGINNER BEGINNER though lol
This is the first sewing video I’ve ever watched that isn’t ultra intimidating. You genuinely make me excited to try and make this, and because of your extremely easy to follow teaching, I’m truly hopeful to pick up this hobby and finally use my sewing machine that’s been collecting dust for years.
Do you have the PDF if you do can you please send it to me? 😅
please let us know if you end up making it!

GUYS JUST TO CLARIFY I DO NOT HAVE IT

This is my first ever time sewing. Here’s some things I learned from this
1. The thread you use matters. Like a lot. Don’t buy sewology. I have learned the hard way lol.
2. It’s ok if it’s not perfect. Don’t stress out.
3. Look at the manual to know how to thread the machine.
My dress has some loose seems and uneven lines but it looks good as long as you don’t look too close. Hope more people try this out!
what thread do u recommend
I REALLY love your username 🤩
@@cosminify1697 coats and Clark worked best
@@verica4b Aw thanks. I literally wrote this because I couldn’t think of anything lol
@@helloworld1272 thank you
As a beginner, here’s some things I’m glad I did.
First, I took extra fabric and extra bias tape and practiced sewing them together. I think practicing on scrap fabric first was super helpful.
In addition to this, I also sewed the bias tape around the bottom of the dress before doing the top.
The tutorial does the top first, but I’m glad I did the bottom first bc I got extra practice before moving on to the top.
The top is curvier and more difficult. It’s also more noticeable if you make mistakes at the top than at the bottom.
So I’d rather practice and get comfortable sewing with the bottom of the dress.
Then I did the top and straps last.
Anyway, this was helpful to me so I thought I’d share :) the tutorial is great though and super helpful!
Good idea! Thanks!
I read the comments before starting my dress and honestly your tip is worth GOLD! The bias tape is for sure the trickiest part and I’m so glad I started to sew it around the bottom first! Thank you so much for this tip 💝
my biggest difficulty is sewing the bias tape 😭😭😭😭
This is such a classic silhouette! I’m seriously considering making like 10 of these and just having a cartoon character closet full of the same outfit.
thats an iconic move
Omg same 😭
Boom! Genius idea...
Oh interesting! Yes After watching a few high Earning people this is actually what needs to be done too much time is spent otherwise I don’t have the time….
These dresses have the prettiest silhouettes and the neckline is everything 😩🥰
just finished this dress!! first one i'd ever made! instructions were sooo easy, took me around three afternoons (including figuring out the sewing machine for the first time). I wish I had realized that bias tape quality matters, mine made the dress look so much cheaper and like a dress-up costume, be warned! you want to buy something nice, like she does here. otherwise so great.
Hi! Where did you end up buying your bias tape? Having trouble finding good quality
Everybody talking about beginner friendly, but LOOK AT HER! SHE'S STUNNING !?!?!!!!
I absolutely love your designs, this dress is sooo beautiful
Thank you !!
@@OurLevelI absolutely love this dress and was looking to purchase a pattern on etsy. However, I am a uk size 2 with a smaller bust so I was wondering how I could adjust those things from the size 4 on your design. I was also wondering how to adjust the length of this dress because I am also on the shorter side 😊
Thank you for the tip on the zigzag vs straight stitch on stretchy material.
I’ve never even thought about sewing before but I’m looking for new hobbies and this was super inspiring! The dress is gorgeous 🥰
Thank you! Sewing is a good one to pick up haha even if it’s just to fix old clothes or tailor clothes :)
same!
As a skinny girl (in a country where curvy women are praised and I was bullied for not being like so) I never had the confidence to wear bodycon type of dresses… Last time I did it my cousin said “no offense, but this is made for girls with actual 🍑”! I loved how this dress fitted you, so (even though I’m slightlyyy more flat) I think I’m gonna give it a try! Tysm for such a video ❤
Just believe in yourself! Never let anyone breaks your spirit 💝
Sweet god! Same, just that I’m curvy in a country that prefers skinny girls. Like no matter how much weight I lose, I’m always going to be too feminine for their beauty standards. And you know what? I don’t care anymore and neither should you. I really hope you will get the confidence to just not give a shit anymore. Go sew that damn dress ❤
which country ?
@@marvin2678 pretty much every country on earth
@@edgarallanpoe209 every country outside europe and the us
This dress is absolutely gorgeous! And I LOVE that a beginner sewing pattern can also look so incredible. I feel like so many beginner patterns are super boxy and unflattering.
Wow this video is the best sewing tutorial I’ve ever seen! Thank you so much. I’ve been sewing home things/ oven gloves/bags etc for a while but always was too intimidated to try making clothing. I love that this video really shows every step, including making the pattern. Will definitely try it out!
thank you i'm glad you liked it! i'll continue making more tutorials like this

i am such a fan of this channel because for some reason it’s kinda hard to find (easy, detailed) sewing tutorials for things that are actually super cute and trendy but this is perfecttt
I can't get over how beginner friendly you made this, I felt very confident handling this as my first sewing project compared to other "simpler" patterns, you made me look so good successfully tackling and acing something so elegant
4 mins in and this is the best sewing tutorial I’ve seen, thanks girly!! So excited to check out more of ur vids!!! ❤️❤️❤️
The design! The way that you’re explaining it! All is 10/10… I’m definitely trying this one, it’s so beautiful ❤ THANK YOU! ❤
This neckline in a shoulderless shirt would look so dark feminine and beautiful, plus it's a mesmerizing basic.
10000/10
So many outfits, and the piece itself it's gorgeous ✨
out of all the other sewing videos i watch.. YOURS IS LITERALLY THE BEST AND SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and its so peaceful and satisfying, i could watch it to the end without feeling bored

Watching you make this beautiful dress was FASCINATING! i love it❤
Thank you so much!! I've been looking for this exact dress everywhere, love the black and white combo, im so excited to make it!
I can't believe that the beautiful dress that I saw on pinterest and that I put in favorite yotube was going to recommend the tutorial to me later! I will definitely do it for this Tuesday, February 14 ♡ thank you
Please do more tutorials! I love how you explaining how to do it and makes it exciting
I love how you went through everything so well. The dress is cute and I want to make one now. 😍
OMG this tutorial is just what i needed
Very lovely! So simple yet so elegant😍
Just finished making this dress. It is *beautiful*. I haven't sewn in a while and this was the perfect project to get back in to it. This tutorial and the pdf sewing pattern are so well made and wonderfully simple to follow. It took me a few hours over two days from start to finish, which is really great for my standards haha (~6 hours total). I went for the classic black fabric and white binding, and I'm now going to try to make a top from the same pattern and leftover fabric. Would be keen to try it in different colours and a shorter length (the original midi length is perfect, but may as well try it out because the fit is just soooo good). My partner is super impressed with how classy it looks and says it makes him want to take me out to a nice dinner XD Thank you Mai! Absolute queen
What fabrics did you use for your dress ?
@@golden7595 I used a 'scuba knit' from the spandex aisle. It looks pretty much the same as the black fabric she uses. 20mm satin bias binding too. It would be nice to try it with a stretchy natural fibre if I can find one...not a huge fan of using polyester but it works so damn well for this
Do you have the PDF for the pattern by any chance?
@@n.9310 did you get? 🥹

I JUST saved this dress on my pinterest yesterday. I'm so glad there's a tutorial for it!!
Beautiful! What a flattering design and the fabric/bias tape color combinations could be endless.
Right?! Depending on the quality of the fabric and bias tape and their color it could be so so beautiful.
Looks timeless, love it
I wanna make every color I can. So much love for the fit. Thank you
This Was the first dress I ever made. (And my first real sewing project) It was easy and very beginner friendly. The dress turned out very pretty. Thank you!! Can’t wait to try your other patterns !

i never sewed anything before (exept for a simple hole in my jeans or things like that) but this looked so fun! i immediately bought everything and now i'm waiting for the sewing machine to arrive
I am doing my first steps on sewing and its amazing that I found this video. You explain everything so I understand everything❤
That's a beautiful cut and really stands out with the bias tape enforcing the curved lines.
However, I would attach the bias tape in two steps. First stitching the short edge onto the fabric and then folding closed and stitching on the fashion fabric carefully on the right side just underneath where the tape attaches to the fabric. This way you won't have that visible seam on the tape itself. The seam will be running almost invisible right underneath the edge of the tape. Looks cleaner, but takes a bit longer to do.
Pls explain more w/ step-by-step vid. Thanks
I'm struggling to visualise this, please help
It's the standard method of using bias tape, just search "How to attach bias tape "
Just finished my dress! So pretty 🥰
The length at the knee makes the cut a basic that does not age.
I have one like this (knee length) that is in crepe covered with a veil, in black, since I m 21. (I m 45) and it s the most perfect black dress ever. You accessorize differently according the occasion. It s simple yet classy and to top it all… i never had to iron it. Wash it, dry fast and never a wrinkle even when pooled within a tiny space in my suitcase.
With the right material, you ll have a best friend for life that is always just right.
Girl, I love LOVE your channel! Just keep making these!!!

If your algorithm has randomly shown you this video and you are scrolling through the comments, looking for people who have tried to make the dress: I did make the dress. A short version and a long one and I had so much fun doing it. I am an absolute beginner, so I get easily intimidated by complex instructions. But this video is so detailed and explains every step so beginner friendly that I had to give it a try.
What I learned during the process:
- fabric is actually more expensive than I thought
- the quality of the bias tape matters a lot (it can end up looking a bit cheap if you choose the wrong one)
- sewing makes lots of fun and wearing something you actually made from scratch is pretty nice
so if you are still not sure whether you should try it out or not: just do it, give it shot. I am really grateful that I have stumbled upon this video and I will continue to sew from now on :)
hi! not sure if you'll see this because this is 6 months late, but what type of fabric did you use?
hey!
I am not 100% sure what it's called. I think it's a cotton polyester blend, like the fabric basic t-shirts (the ones that are a bit stretchy) are made of. I went to a store and looked at the different types of fabrics, so I would recommend doing that. I hope that helps a bit! :)
Now it’s time to buy the sewing machine. This dress is insanely gorgeous, reminds me of Chanel. Excellent work💗
As a beginner, I am definately planning on making this super cute dress! I would like to make the neckline not dip so low.
I really enjoyed this and it reminded me so much of my mom, she‘s a master seamstress and used to sew and alter a bunch of stuff for me 🤭
omg the silhouette im in love
I finished my dress!!! This was my first time sewing something without heavy assistance lol. I’m so happy with how it turned out and am so proud of myself. I saw this dress on Pinterest and thought it was beautiful. Little did I know I would stumble across this tutorial and pattern! Never thought I would have that dress for myself - let alone make it myself! I’m definitely making more in different colors. Such a great beginner dress and such a great tutorial! Thank you!
This is my dream dress, I say it on Pinterest months ago and it never leave my mind! Thank so much for the pattern and the video, you made my dream come true! ❤🌞
This dress looks so amazing!
It took more than 3 hours, but the video helped SO MUCH and the pattern was easy to follow and cut out. I did have trouble keeping the neckline inside that bias tape, but by only sewing a few inches at a time I finally got it. GREAT PATTERN AND TUTORIAL!
