It’s so important for Trans people to be able to portray trans characters! When you consider that many trans actors are passed by on acting roles featuring cis characters it’s even more important that cis actors don’t take roles that should rightly go to trans people. Since trans actors bring more to trans characters because of lived experiences, and they understand the nuances of being trans in a way that cis actors do not which leads to a better, more accurate and interesting portrayals.
I like your logic. Henceforth, trans people will play all non-trans roles, and non-trans people will play all trans roles! If these people think they're actors, then let's see them act!
Every actor has to have a minimum understanding of what it's like to be a particular kind of character. You can only relate a performance to things you have experienced, for example someone who has never experienced sexual trauma will be unable to accurately portray what it's like to have experienced it as well as someone who has. That's not to say that it's impossible, as there's overlap with other kinds of trauma.
Bastion Cory they're not acting as themselves, they're are acting as a character. That's what every other actor does, and it doesnt define them, so it shouldn't be any different for trans people.

That's not acting tho. That's just Trans playing themselves. Trans should be playing roles that don't "Define" them

alright so I guess white people will be playing black characters now?
So a black man playing a black man isn’t acting?
