I do love when women are outrageous in comedy, but these NPR sessions may be my favourite of all the comedienne-developed SNL sketches. They really know how to make a lot of a little, both in dialogue and in physical performance.
I just remembered that these sketches are not always performed by these two. I think it's worth adding that Gasteyer and Shannon are the cream of the Delicious Dish crop.
I didn't know about this one either, and it's an instant classic. I _so_ miss this SNL skit! And I always assumed they would, sooner or later have Pete Schweddy back to share all the delicious secrets about his Schweddy Weiner. An episode about his Schweddy Weiner would have been a perfect companion for his balls! Everyone in my neighborhood knows that once you have experienced Schweddy Balls, then a moist and aromatic, sometimes even glistening Schweddy Weiner is definitely close by! And finally, I often wonder who was the first person to think of squeezing their big Schweddy Weiner into small white buns? I just have no idea! I mean, it obviously wasn't Florence Dusty. So it's a huge mystery! It almost doesn't work, as you really have to make sure those little buns are spread open wide to take that Scheddy Weiner! If you haven't already, look up a video of someone doing it. If nothing else, it's good late night entertainment! It's quite a site! They bring a lot of sauce packets as well. (I especially like the videos about Schweddy Weiners squeezng into little white buns made in an outdoor setting!)
To this day, I still think Brendan Fraser absolutely crushed the one SNL feature he was given. An awesome Bjork as musical guest capped off a more-than-memorable episode. Edit: I illegally recorded it on VHS. Sorry NBC!
It's a very affectionate parody. They're so excited about squash and it's a festival of the boring. But they're so nice. If you were sick, you just know they would the ones turning up in their Subarus to do your shopping and bring you some granola, vegan chicken soup, and fair trade chocolate.
Molly Shannon kissed me in the lobby after the show. True story. I have a photo to prove it. Haha. We were drinking beer after the show. I don't know why she kissed me but I was in love with her at the time.
I wish they had talked about butternut squashes. They are flesh colored and some are so big they can stand up on their own. They could have demonstrated how they can do that.
I feel like as funny as this still is, the context of watching this in a world with no podcasts or internet is lost. NOBODY talked like that on tv or radio outside of the NPR people they're parodying. Like, even the fact that they're just looking at pictures on the radio is somewhat lost since so many youtube videos are just like this.
I like this one - the double entendre ones are very funny but they're a type of humour SNL often did. "Cork soakers" is my gold standard. But this one is doing something special, a satire of a public radio vibe. It's so precise, with all the little touches, the absurdities, the subtle relationship between the two women, etc.
"It's finally turtleneck season again."
I love how she says this when she's worn the same damn thing in every single skit.
Including the 2010 Betty White episode😂
The timing is impeccable. Those long... awkward... silences. Comedy gold.
the absurdity of reviewing their pictures on a radio show, with absolutely zero description of what they had seen
Amazing actresses !!!
They’re so good lol
The part: “we have a treat for our listeners” and she picks a bunch of photos nobody can see not even the SNL live audience is so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The whole idea of them looking at their vacation pictures on a radio show is so effing funny to me 😂
This is one of the rare examples of awkward comedy without being painfully cringe-inducing. I love it.
Going to the photomat to pick up your photos. Ahhh memories. 📸📼☎📠📟
Looking at photos on a radio show😂😂😂
The whole skit is so good!👍👍
Oh the reference to The Far Side, brings backs memories😊😊😊
These two were so damn good in these sketches
Brendan did darn well! Gasteyer's adopting that slightly choked voice totally cracks me up..
"Squash factoids." I love it.

Thank you for this! I thought I saw them all. So nice to have something new to me after all these years.
“Shoot we should have written more questions”😂
I love these three people! Their characters and in real life!
This really makes my consider moving all my gourds futures investments to squash futures.
"Shoot, we should have written more questions."
These chicks should ASMR! I love their voices! Funny as hell, too!
He is correct about squash growing season being extended into the first week of November...not so outrageous. 😊
Heretic!
True, but oh so riske'
Existential malaise at its most funny.
And for some reason, Brendan Fraser is in it...
MINDBOGGLING!!!
“That would make a really good _Far Side.”_ oh, the 90s
The joke is that NPR is really like this.
So the American version of CBC radio. *shudders*
Brenden Fraser b4 winning Oscar...very versatile smart actor.
I ran into Ana at an IKEA in Long Island a long time ago, and she signed something that said, I’ll see ya at IKEA!
I love the Ana character. She is just so cute.
Showing photos on the radio lolololololol I'm dead
Schweddy balls and dusty muffins squashed this episode
You didn’t...
Squash aficionados
Fly on the Wall brought me here.
I forgot that Photomats even existed.
As I long time NPR member......I love it!!
Where do you stand on the squash controversy?
I always crack up when they do these skits. Lol
we need him back at hosting.
Ana in particular, so so so talented!
Bring in the Shweaty Balls! 😂😂😂😂😂
LIFE'S AN ADVENTURE
I remember this from the 90s
He looks like every guy I've ever worked with in the restaurant business
I didn't know about this one either, and it's an instant classic. I _so_ miss this SNL skit!

Brendan was so cute.
As we will be discussing
*S Q U A S H*
These old clips are hilarious, better than the new ones surely
LMAO! BRAVO!!
Brendan Fraser takes this to a whole new level 🤪 he really knows how to BRING IT ON.😉
Good Times ! Good Times ! LOL lol
Ana Gasteyer is awesome🤣🤣🤣
They always hit that NPR vibe.
My ex use to play NPR all day long. This is only slightly exaggerated.
I wish I could talk about my hobbies with this type of energy and not like a zealot demanding you to repent😂😢
Brendan Frasier looks like Sean O'haire here.
To this day, I still think Brendan Fraser absolutely crushed the one SNL feature he was given. An awesome Bjork as musical guest capped off a more-than-memorable episode.
Edit: I illegally recorded it on VHS. Sorry NBC!
Miss these ladies
It's all fun and games till somebody loses an eye.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My friend Reggie is the older brother Brendan...Reggie loves this sketch...

That's funny but seriously it's true. Gold !
I miss this guy. He was so talented and sexy. The awful things he has had to go through is horrible.
Is this the last time Brendan Frasier was on TV?
You mean on screen? He was just getting started here.
There are some actors that I’d like to see in this skit
Do kids now a days even know what a photo Matt is. Or remember Fox Photo
Great 👍 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You could play this on NPR without the laugh track and no one would know it's comedy.
Good times

These sketches are NPR.
I want to think that was Leon Phillips prettiest man called into the show there was some some ladies hosting the show he's a good cook
I wish they had talked about butternut squashes. They are flesh colored and some are so big they can stand up on their own. They could have demonstrated how they can do that.
LOL 🤣
I want to marry ana's character
You know who's the guest for buns? Mel Gibson (and sometimes Denzel Washington;)
please invite Brendan back for a show on how to make guacamole
Great comedy..!
Gourd festival

Margaret Jo
who is this gentleman
Brendan Fraser : )
😂😃🤣😅👌✌️🤪😆
Molly Shannon was hot.
Racheal or molly? Who do you like best? Ana is the Queen but who do you like to see her team with?
I think Molly was better than Rachel
Rachel was part of the bad SNL.
What is everyone laughing at
That was a weak Delicious Dish. Now Betty White and her muffin were the real deal.
@Floyd Vaughn Yes

Could have been funnier if Brendan went off on the caller and got progressively angrier about someone making fun of Squash's but this was alright
No
Can someone, please, identify the actors? They are great. I mean, the women.
+Saif Khan Chishty on the left ana gasteyer and on the center molly shannon
Thanks!
Molly Shannon & Ana Gayester
The Notorious MKG
I never understood why these Delicious Dish sketches are funny?
Leave it to SNL to do a sketch that's a dead-on parody of stuffy, snooty NPR programming and then ruin it by turning it into a tasteless dick joke.
What does squash have to do with that?
is there meant to be an awkward sexual frustration between them ?
Good times
