Obvious FAKE breaks, she ruined the scene, along with her terrible "acting"
Sans actually begged Fallon not to break character because he loved the sketch so much and didn't think they'd be able to get away with it again.

I like how, instead of just saying "69" (which would have gotten laughs), they instead milk it and say "between 68 and 70", which got even more laughs.

I think it shows that she has said cock suckers enough times that she tends to lapse into it and that in itself is funny as hell
I thought it was somewhat easy humor, not thaaat funny in itself. But seeing Janet laughing about "cork soaking" emphasizes how it was kinda childish, and that to me is funny. But hey, to each his own!

SNL has a spotty track record for quality, but goddamn, getting this many people to one-take while walking the FCC fine line is impressive. Kudos, you massive cork soakers.

I remember watching this one the saturday it first aired and wondering how they got it past the fcc.....
The FCC rules only applies to the times between 6 AM and 10 PM. So, technically SNL can say whatever they want since in airs at 11:30 PM. They might lose sponsors though.

@@Phlogiston2312 I remember missing that episode the night it aired. When I got to school, a kid kept saying “schwedy balls”, and I never knew why until like 2005. I wish I’d seen it live to appreciate it more.

Me and My mom watched this when it aired, i just got home from work (i live in phoenix), i brought home mexican food for dinner and one this sketch started my mom who was 60 start laughing so hard, she choked on her food, then spit taked after she drank water to stop her from coughing when jimmy was talking about the Grandma lol. Good Times i miss her. BTW, Janet was still fire at this time, so gorgeous.
My mom loved the movie *Planes Trains & Automobiles* She'd laugh so hard it would have her gasping for air lol. I miss her a lot. Your post gave me the impression that your mom had passed away too. If so, I'm sorry for your loss.

This was brilliant word play seeing Janet Jackson break is priceless. I've seen this so many times still funny..
I had an idea for a boxing skit. With an old Russian coach. And his line is that you have to "be tough" to get in the ring at his gym. But in Russian accent it sounds like "beat off". I made a few good punchlines about it but that was about it. It's funny in my mind lol. " if you want to come in my ring, you must "bee toff first". "Not everyone is born toff, here we can teach you to bee toff". Maybe someone reading this will find it funny. My friends didn't laugh when I told them my idea lol

4:10 the best part about this joke is that they never land on the punchline. Because they don’t have to. The joke’s already been told. What point would there be in saying 1969? The audience already knows that’s the punchline. I like it when jokes do that.
I've enjoyed the cork soaking expertise of these men dozens of time, and I still find it deeply stimulating.

I've heard that Rachel Dratch's line at 2:50 was the one that had them in hysterics in the writers room because it absolutely makes no sense at all in terms of producing wine, yet they got away with putting it in the sketch
We took this tour when we visited Napa. A lot of people had come up from San Francisco for the tour.
