You are so right. She is hilarious! This character is the reason I looked her up tonight. I happened to think of her and needed a good laugh I just love her. I just don’t understand why SNL didn’t make more skits of Rita on her porch. The Cheerleaders are awesome too. All of her stuff is. In the movie, Just Go With It, by Adam Sandler, the scene where she plays a patient of his is so funny. It never gets old to me. I would love to see more of her .
@@ericsmith3495 we owned a pizza / grocery store at 61 st and kingsessing ave next to Mt Josiah cemetery . out house and store are gone just empty lot now .
Stallone is amazing!!! When SNL was amazing, a few years after this period, it died. My brother, my cousin and I used to watch SNL every Saturday night as kids for years, I have not watched it since hmmm 2000?
It is incredibly tacky, Thst's what's so hilarious about it. Putting a statue of the Virgin Mary in an upright bathtub is the epitome of trailer-park tacky.@@anap847
They should have had her in close-up after establishing the front yard and leaves. [Well, close-up now and again anyway] Her facial expressions are the best [I missed that in other words] Cheri Oteri did her best though Lol 😂
The acting in this skit was almost too good for SNL to be funny, it had it's funny moments but when the characters are talking to each other it's actually heartwarming.
i think i now know what henry winkler meant when he mention he borrowed certain mannerisms from the real life sylvester stallone, of course just to create the attitude and characteristics of fonzie on happy days.
Leave it to Sylvester Stallone, a guy who grew up in Manhattan New York THE place where the stereotype of the Italian American was established and who sounds like an Italian stereotype in real life, to screw up the Italian stereotype when he has a go at acting like one. Oteri ........she's a riot..
He was born in Manhattan and lived there till the age of around eight. Then, the family moved to Washington, D.C. and finally to Philadelphia. He lost his native New York accent long ago. But you're right. In the Rocky films, Sly affected a New York accent, which was strange because they took place in Philly. Here, he's all over the place.
I feel like all I can do is apologize for not appreciating the art of comedy at the time, and completely thank Amy Schumer for opening, completely, my awareness as comedy as an art.
SNL as they call it today hasn't been funny since the 90s. Today, it has about 50 people on there, none of whom are funny. They've gotten away from sketch comedy and it's too politicized today.
Comedy changes through the generations you must realize that. 100 years ago explicit jokes about sexism and racism were acceptable, but not now. Just cause it doesn’t match your humor today doesn’t mean it’s not funny.
Cheri Oteri was one of the funniest SNL cast members ever. She gets you laughing before she even starts talking!
💯
Agreed! One of our faves of all time! Her and Will together were magic!
I loved her characters, especially Collete.
She’s an incredible talent. Wish I saw more of her recently.
I’ve been watching SNL Since the 70s. Cheri is one of my favorites for sure. Love her.🌹🌹💯💯
"Oh my god, Sinatra!"
"No Stallone but he's just as good"
LMAO
Loves his brother
Love it!!
Love Sly more, but Frank is pretty awesome in his own right.
Sly needed to play more goofball characters like this.. hahaha 😂
He is pretty funny and quite the jokester.
Rhinestone is hilarious, I don't care what anyone says.
"Back away from the friggin car!" Lol!!
That was my favorite part lol
Oh my God that made me remember this sketch lol...i remember cracking up
That's the best damn alarm ever! 😂🤣😂
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
You gotta love how Cheri fed Stallone his line at 3:17. She must have known this sketch backwards and forwards.
How much attention do you time stamp people pay to these sketches? Geez do you have lives outside of SNL clips?
And then.....😂😅
She should - she wrote it. lol

So underrated Cheri Oteri was funny as hell.

Rita was one of the All Time Greatest Characters ever on SNL , The Great Cheri Oteri ♥️🥰
Stallone did a really good job.
Ok, where the heck have I been...I never knew Stallone hosted SNL!!!! Funny!!!
looked like Adam Sandler from the thumbnail
@@KronStaro Yes. I thought it was Sandler from the thumbnail also.
His Orange Julius sketch was HILARIOUS!
He.was brilliant! 😂😂😂
Stallone actually have comedic talent
You should see the movie OSCAR, it has lots of great actors and actresses.
I love Rita soo much!!
The audience slept on this one hard; this is as funny now as it was in '97.
Classic! Her smile is beautiful!
❤
Oh I love Rita!!!!!! So much, been watching since the beginning
This was literally my entire neighborhood in the 80’s and 90’s
The Frank Stallone line is so great but mostly lost on the audience. One guy got it -
One of the best lines, sadly nobody got it.
You know who got it? You guessed it. Norm MacDonald.
I git it, but I'm old.

The best of the best.

I thought I was the only one to think that after Bill Harder , Kristen Wiig , Fred Armisen etc.etc. that SNL died
People have been saying that SNL is no longer funny since SNL started. Modern SNL is just as funny as SNL from the 1970s.
"Oh my God, Sinatra!"
"Nope Rita, you didn't guess it, Frank Stallone"
This is DJ Pauly D’s parents!! 😂😂😂😂 same last name
"I see you, you little Dom Deluise" 😂😂
This character needs a series or movie
Kate McKinnon has NOTHING on Cheri!
and kate mckinnon is rather good.
Cheri Oteri was brilliant.
Nobody comes even close to Cheri!
Let’s just say they were BOTH really good. 👍
Except Kate McKinnon is way funnier.
"Oh yeah? Try me, Bastard! Try me!" Ahahahahaha 😅
“ A dog would be lucky to tinkle on you”. Lol.
I love how, when she jumped he grabbed one arm . She didn't budge.
I love the Bathtub Mary in the front yard. So catholic, so tacky!

Stallone on SNL?? However, Cheri Oteri is very underrated.
What law of the Universe states there has to be an ‘underrated’ comment?
I kinda wish he was in comedies. I still remember his orange julius sketch too lol

"Bee-yoo-dee-full!"
Frank Stallone, what? XDDD
It's Sylvester. Yes, he hosted SNL.
I wish that car alarm was real

Omg, I just love Cheri Oteri, one of the best SNL cast members of all time.
She is so funny!!!

he grew up in south Philly
He is from silver spring, md. What are you guys talking about?

He is okay at comedy, but most of his comedic movies suck. Oscar was pretty good though.
I never thought that Silvester Stalone can be so funny

Wasn't Stallone calling her aunt Rita at the start?🤷🏼♀️
Cheri is the Kristen of her era.
Cheri is genius. KW is an unfunny hack that was forced down the audience's collective throats.
KW is funny as cancer. Kate Mckinnon is the Cheri of HER generation.
