Took your advice and gave these a try. About five more yards than my usual Calloway SuperSoft and a better feel on the green. Three rounds with one ball, three sand shots, and not a single blemish on the ball. I bought four dozen from Amazon. You are the best golf reviewer on the net. Keep up the great work!
Been playing these for a year now. Excellent ball. They really jump off the driver yet spin and check around greens. Covers are durable too. They remind me a lot of the Z-Star in feel and playability.
Love these balls! Have only played a single round with them and everything just feels great with them. I play really well with Prov1 balls and some other more expensive balls but this ball plays just as well if not better from the small sample size i've got. Even if it played just a little worse, the price point is enough to forget about any other ball! Thanks for showing us!!
Id love to see it against a Vice Pro Plus. I always had an opinion on Vice as being a cheap, crappy ball due to stigmas from other players. Gave them a try, and I love them. Far cheaper than a proV, and for my skill level, works great.
I found the same with ProV1 balls - the irons are shorter length than the TP5 but stop quicker. Will definitely give these a try - the price is great for a 3 piece Urethane ball.
Congrats on the weight loss, Gabe!!! So hard to do, especially as we age. Kirklands are my daily players. However, I just put 2 dozen Legato balls in my Amazon cart. Thanks for the heads up!
I'll take the Kirklands for price alone. Lose a little distance and spin a bit much, but I usually don't hit each one more than 10 or 15 times, sometimes a LOT LESS, before it's camping or swimming anyway. If I have to pay $50+ just to play, I have to save funds somewhere else and I honestly won't miss a few yards. I'm 60, play from the white tees and can still hit those Kirklands about 230-240. Good enough for me & my budget.
This is the only ball I buy, I started using them last year and like you said, I cant tell the difference. Why pay more for something and get the same performance. Great ball.
The V3's are much better than the V2, and I loved the V2 BTW. The V3 is more durable, don't know what the other guy is talking about. The V3 is a great ball at an even better price.
I have been playing these for a little over a year now. I like them a lot, and dont get bummed when i lose one, because its a $2 ball as opposed to a 5-6 dollar ball
Shot a 74 last week with a range ball. So, there's that. Living on a course I find hundreds of new balls a year. About 25% are Pro V's, 25% Calloway's and remainder are what is on sale at the clubhouse.
I have played them for more than a year. I nevr payed more than 24 dollars for them on Amazon. They had them on sale for 19 dollars abox and bought about 6 dozen. According to My Golf Spy's compression chart the 2023 Pro V1 is a 87 compression and Legato is not on their chart but is advertised as a 85 compession.
They're £40 for a dozen in the uk, if i was spending that much on balls ild rather spend that little bit more for pro v1, the 85 compression of the legato is perfect though. Ill keep to the kitklands @ £28 for 24 balls, more then good rnough for me.
Would be great to see you run the Legatos against the Maxfli Tour S. Thats been my ball of choice since it released last year but Legato is definitely something on the radar now. great stuff as always!
I've played both and can't say there is a noticeable difference. In fact the only issue I have with the Amazon ball is they don't make a 75 compression like the Noodle for us very senior golfers that need a lower compression ball ..... hopefully soon!!!
Ball is the same price as the pro v1 here in Canada. Hell if I go to a certain course during the week it's $70 for a round and for an extra $20 I can get a dozen pro v1's
I didn't hear much about centeredness of contact, other than smash factor....makes ALL the difference in the world! And he must own the golf course since he drove his cart right over the teeing area!! Sheesh!
I see they list the LTX 4090 on the back of that box but they most definitely do not have them listed on their website and I cannot find them anywhere for sale.
Might have to check them out. To be honest I have to get rid of (ie lose) a few balls before I can justify buying any more golf balls. I have about six dozen golf balls (5 dozen TP5s) so if I buy another box of balls I might have to eat them if my wife sees them. I don't blame her.
Bought the yellow version of the Legato back in September for $19.99 a dozen. Price has skyrocketed right after that. Loved it too. Would be great if it was still that price though
@@LetsPlayThru the Kirkland’s are too spiny for me and Snell scuffs quickly. The Seed balls are pretty good, but can’t use the convenience of Amazon to order them. I’ll let you know how I do with the Legato’s. Keep these great reviews coming! 👍
Seems like this play pretty good. Through sam's club, I can still get my vice pros a little cheaper at $50 per 2 dozen (which is cheaper than straight from Vice). When the price goes up at sam's, I may need to search for a new ball. I wonder how well these Lagatos do with a higher swing speed.
Hi Gabe, I always enjoy your content. I have just watched your comparisons of the Legato balls to Calloway and Titleist. It looks like the Legato is a smaller ball in circumference, is this possible?
I agree and disagree with your recommendation. Just played my first round with it and actually liked it much better than ProV1. Also felt it was awesome around the green, so kudos for your recommendation. Where I disagree is that it does look cheap and like a knock off, if they improved the logo font that would probably help. Great vid! ❤

they don't seem to have the 4090 model on Amazon, I would try those. I've been playing the Wislon Staff model balls lately, with great results. I can sometimes find them for around $40 locally.
Nice control and consistency for an amateur swing. For me, just seeing the word "Titleist" below gives an air of assured quality of every ball, confidence and comfort, and pride. In this game, every little thing helps. Keep up your good content.
The problem with DTC balls and many brand name balls is the quality control, which is the biggest difference with the Titleist Pro V1s. When you hit a bad shot with a Pro V1 you know it was you and not the ball. You can’t say the same about most other balls, including many expensive tour balls like Callaway, TaylorMade, Bridgestone, Zrixon, etc. Zrixon did specially bad on the My Golf Spy quality test. Callaway did really bad a few years back, but now are much better. I play three to four times a week and use the Kirkland ball. When I am playing a tournament or high end courses I always use Pro V1s.
Yes I do. That’s why I don’t use them on tournaments or upscale courses. I use the Check-GO Pro on every Kirkland ball and that negates most problems, specially for driving and putting. It is good enough for everyday playing. Any serious game I use Pro V1s. It works for me.
In Canada the Lagato are 52.99 on Amazon so i might try them i tried the Taylormade speedsoft ink and scored some of my best rounds with it and was very surprised its a 34.99 ball here in Canada also like the TP5 and the Callaway ERC soft and the AVX and the Tour response stripe orange and the PXG Extreme all those ball i like and play well with so i will just get them when one of them are on sale great video by the way Gabe cheers from Vulcan Canada
Looking at the back of the boxk @0:59 I would assume the 30 means that it is a 3 piece ball and the 85 is for the complression. Why 3085 and not just 385 is likely a marketing move or they are leaving room vor a version number. 3085 is the first and maybe 3185 for the next generation. Who knows. But the 4090 looks to follow the same syntax. Might have to look these up.
might leave the 0 as a separator or if they were to make other models that were 3/85 they can signify model or year with the 2nd digit....whoops just saw you are thinking the same thing.
Used to use Kirklands but they spin too much, especially off a driver which takes away distance. And the covers don’t last for me. Started buying the legato about a year ago and love them. Very comparable to my personal favorite, the Srixon Z-Star.
I've been using the kirklands most of the time for a couple of years now, but they really suck in high winds. I've played a couple of times in the last month where it's been gusting 25-35 mph, and they sometimes get blown off line by 50-60 yards, while others are going 20-30. The former puts you OB or the next fairway over, the latter in the rough but likely still playable. Think I'll try these out
It's no mystery to building effective golf balls anymore. Everyone knows everything. That doesn't mean you can just play anything, of course, but rather, it's perfectly reasonable to play a ball no one's ever heard of, provided you've confirmed that it performs. This video helps demonstrate that. Back in the balata/wound/liquid center days, Titleist was king. No one made a ball as good. But the internet blew that away, so much so that the professionals got wind of a solid-core ball that flew better, spun less off the driver, and held up well, the Titleist Professional disappeared almost overnight. Tiger with his Nike ball (Bridgestone, actually) sealed the deal, and the industry has never looked back. Now, anyone can make a quality ball. You, the consumer, just have to ensure you're picking one that actually does live up to the standards set by the big boys.
If your swing speed it sub 100, are you really getting the most out of a ProV or similar ball? I'd be curious to see some results with 115 speed and how durable they are.

Gabe you forgot to test their disappearance levels ! A proV1 will be lost much faster than a Kirkland for instance .. it’s science 😂
That’s true/ every time I pull a fresh one out it’s bound for woods or water. 🤣
I believe at certain speed and threshold, a prov1 will open a portal to another dimension full of lost balls and socks. Science.
I was thinking they are more likely to steal a ProV1 then the Kirk, only way I’m losing a ball… A lot of new golfers have bad etiquette
True! The more you pay, the easier you lose them. Sometimes hit only once😢
