There is a stereotype that Japanese men are not affectionate and are not romantic but your hubby definitely proves that stereotype wrong! You two are so sweet and loving to each other it warms my heart! Bless you two
When I went to Japan, it was near the end of my month long trip and I decided to go from Hiroshima to Kinosaki Onsen (a bit of an impractical route considering I was around Kyoto/Osaka before--but I had the rail pass). I stayed at this nice small ryokan and it was incredible. It was just me and the family was so friendly! The food was amazing. You could also reserve the bath privately for up to 45 mins so I took advantage of that. It was such a cute, quiet town and you could see fireflies by the river at night. I remember when I had to leave the owner offered to drive me to the station and, on the way, he stopped at locations and took pictures of me. It was one of the highlights of my trip and I would go back in a heartbeat.
DeeZaster Heh, I have a similar plan, I've been learning too and if all goes to plan I hope to get the funds to live there for a year, while I'm young, after my uni degree ends in two years time :p I feel like its the best time to go, before I commit to a job, and 22 seems to me like a good age to really enjoy it !
I am loving the super amazing quality and 'realness' to your videos! So happy you and Ryosuke decided to share this with us. I felt relaxed just watching ~
I don't know how long you two have been together, but the love between you two is tangible even through the Internet! When he gets lost just watching you, it makes me smile. You kind of remind me of me and my husband... we're still silly together, we laugh every day, and we're still disgustingly in love, even after 23 years together. We're weird, though. 😊
Absolutely, Ryosuke! You have to get older, but you don't have to give up having fun. You also support Grace so well when she's feeling poorly, and that reminds me of my husband as well. I hope you two can continue to fall more in love for the rest of your lives!
I've been to about 4 Ryokan's when i went to Japan last year. So i'd like to point out that not every Ryokan has 1 or 2 people speaking english. So i'd suggest keeping that in mind. But the experience i've had with was relaxing and really nice and polite staff members and such.
It must be nice not to get accused of cultural appropriation when wearing traditional clothing and being a westerner, Japanese people understand the concept of respect that is shown by a person being willing to absorb their traditions.
I don't think you understand how cultural appropriation works. If a Japanese person comes to America and goes to a football game and eats pizza, no one accuses them of appropriation. If Japanese person dressed up as a white person or native american person or indian person in Japan, that would be a better example.
sean sjahrial I don't think you understand that I don't understand the difference between your example and mine. =P ... but don't worry, I don't actually want to understand, I don't actually believe in cultural appropriation, it's just some SJW bollox to make people feel guilty about unimportant shit. Emulation is the sincerest form of flattery in any case.
But what does it mean to "dress up like a white person?" Or what does it mean to "dress up like X" in general? If a Japanese person wears a duster and cowboy boots because they enjoy the way they look, or because they saw them in an American movie, does this mean that they are stealing from American culture, or does it simply mean that they are taken by the exotic look and what it represents to them? Who is actually diminished by this exchange? Who is diminished if Katy Perry wears a Kimono or paints her face to resemble a Geisha? It's unlikely that Katy Perry or her fans understand what Geisha means to Japanese, but that's not the point. Katy Perry is not pretending that she is Japanese or represents Japan, she is only modeling a look or a feel that she or her fans find to be interesting. The idea that culture is a static object that belongs to some and not to others, that it can be "stolen" or "appropriated" is truly baffling to me, because it shows a fundamental ignorance of what culture is, how it comes to be, and how it evolves and transmits.
Culture appropriation is more like people recreating something from another culture and not really understanding the meaning behind it, but when the minority does it it is viewed negatively or frowned upon. for example... a white person wearing a native american headdress as a costume for Halloween or in a music video but traditionally it is supposed to be worn in ceremonies, now if that person were to wear it in a ceremony it would not be considered cultural appropriation even tho it is still a white person wearing it. I hope this helps and this was a very vague explanation :P I do understand however that sometimes people just want to experience different cultures, if someone tries to understand the meaning behind it and wear it appropriately there's absolutely nothing wrong with it in my mind :-)
Grace I really love how your videos strike the perfect balance between sharing a genuine, lived personal experience and being educational/informative enough to not lose interest. That's why you're my first subscribed to vlogger!
It looks amazing, I bet you had a wonderful time together! But what I find the most adorable about this vlog is the fact that Ryosuke tells you so often that you're beautiful! You guys really love each other :)
deadlyneko64 Ikr! they have a super adorable relationship. I hope one day that i am that blessed in my relationships. you as well(if you aren't in one already.)
I believe you Ryosuke, but that's soooo cute :) To be honest it's almost impossible to hear a guy in Poland saying to his wife/girlfriend that she's beautiful, it's more like ,,you're so sexy" or ,,what a nice ass" than ,,oh honey, you're so beautiful" :)
+deadlyneko64 That will depend on the girl i guess. I was extremely sweet to my Polish girlfriend but she was not the type that loved me calling her beautiful and sweet.
That looks like such an amazing place to visit. It seems like you guys find such great spots to show off the true spirit of Japan. Keep up the good work.
Unbelievableone1987 Hmm I'm not sure. You may do that when you can't complete a sentence in the other language, or you may just choose whatever words coming to your mind, idk.
It sometimes happens to me when I speak my native language (German) that I accidently use English words instead of German ones. I think it could be that you are thinking more in sense behind words than the language itself and sometimes randomly use words that fit in sense but not in the right language. Grace used the particle "ne" instead of "...right?!" which would be the English equivalent didnt she? Feel free to correct me and thank you for your time and effort :D
Unbelievableone1987 A word comes to your mind. It suits your conversation context. Then you can't think of another word in another language... That happens to me since the time I wasn't fluent in English so I didn't think the phenomenon is a fluency indicator.
you're the only Japanese blogger I'm intrigued by I've never watched another ones entire video set because they've never been interesting enough you show cool stuff like the countryside of Japan and nature not just whatever is on the Tokyo streets. it's like the country's heritage, very intriguing
There is NOTHING like going to a GOOD resort and eating GOOD well prepared dishes. NOTHING. It is pure heaven to eat good fresh food. As the French say, "Take away the butter, you take away the taste."
thank you for making videos. you do such a fantastic job capturing the beauty of everywhere you go. this was a good video to whatch before i go to bed. i feel relaxed now. Thank you so much Grace and Ryosuke!
If you all put in your Patron that you'll go review a ryokan like this every two months or so I would most definitely tribute!! What a wonderful experience to watch!
I'm sooo jealous right now! That Ryokan looked really nice to stay at, not to mention the food looked delicious. I can't wait to visit amazing places like these :)
I love ryokan! The last one I've been to was in Ufuein in kyuushu. It was beautiful. The kaiseki dinner was amazing and came in several courses and the breakfast was served in a gigantic bento box, everything presented beautifully. Both meals served private in our room. Your video was so relaxing to watch! Thanks for taking us with you!
I loved watching how happy you guys were eating the food! We get to live vicariously through you guys so...ARIGATOU!!! Thank you for taking us with you!!! :)
I'm beginning to worry I may to stop watching all these J-vloger channels. Grace and Ryosuke being such a lovely, fun couple and the natural, respectful way they tour and explain things does not make it any easier. For months now I have dreams in Japanese (even though I can't even claim to have a conversation grasp of the language, only grab keywords on occasion), I remember places I visited when I lived in Okinawa, and just the other night I even woke up flipped upside down in my bed after an unbelievably nice dream about Japan woke me up. For what it's worth: my deepest thanks to both Grace and Ryosuke for sharing their lives, experience, and family with us on RUclips. They surely deserve the recognition and success with their books, videos, and blogs. Now to see how many other channels I can enjoy before the pain inside is too much.
There must be a word that describes being able to taste something just by how delicious it looks! You two looked so happy at this ryokan I couldn't help but smile along with you!
oooh wouah !! ok, next time I go to Japan I'll definitely go to a ryokan ! your video made me want to even more the before ! thank you Grace and Ryosuke for always making me see all the beauties of Japan than I need to explore !
It warms the heart to see you both so happy! That food looks gorgeous. I really hope I can visit one day because that place looks dreamy! Thank you for sharing! Arigato!
Great video. The only bad thing about it is that I live so far away I will probably never get to experience this type of hotel. At least I get to live vicariously through your video! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
we stayed at Hotel Senkei Yamagaso while in Hakone! staying at a ryokan was my favorite experience during our vacay in japan, hands down...more than the life size gundam....and i LOVE gundam! thanks for the vid
This is ammmmmazing! And you guys' happy faces are awwwwwwesome! You know what? You guys have this magical power that makes your viewers just as happy by simply showing that you're having a good time!!! Thanks for making me happy again! ❤️
Ryosuke just seems like the coolest dude to hang out with.
I just love how much ryosuke says how beautiful grace is its so sweet
+toni roberts was searching for this comment ^^
I want a relationship like you two have. Every time he said that Grace was beautiful or a "pretty lady" I almost cried. Theure such a loving couple
I tell my wife she is pretty or beautiful at least 10 times a day. Never stop telling your partner they look wonderful in your eyes!
Agilancer
With 10 times you are probably 10 times ahead of the typical japanese husband.
Very good comment, though.
There is a stereotype that Japanese men are not affectionate and are not romantic but your hubby definitely proves that stereotype wrong! You two are so sweet and loving to each other it warms my heart! Bless you two
What a beautiful video. What a beautiful couple. How lucky you are! God bless you both.

+Earl Grey Ryokan is the best! I am glad you had such a great time there, private onsen is fantastic too! We need to go stay at more Ryokans!
All of your videos make me want to learn Japanese and visit Japan.
N00RA96 Do it!
I started learning Japanese 6 months ago and I'm going to move there in 2 years!
At least start it and see how you like it. Good luck!
Cloud nyne I'm applying at the JET-programme, you should check it out if you don't already know it!
DeeZaster I haven't heard of it yet :o It seems interesting, what benefits are there applying with them as opposed to going it solo?
That looks like a great way to kick back and let go of some stress. Also looks like it would be fun to hang with RUclips's cutest couple.
This looks like one of those experiences that you will never forget in your entire life. So much joy and happiness. Awesome.
I love how Ryoske spontaneously says how beautiful you are! It is so sweet. And I also like watching how much fun you have together.
I am loving the super amazing quality and 'realness' to your videos! So happy you and Ryosuke decided to share this with us. I felt relaxed just watching ~
"We should take everyone's parents here!"
That escalated quickly. LOL!
This was a really nice watch...Soothing even just from watching
Nicholas Mahabeer Thanks~! Happy to hear that~
I don't know how long you two have been together, but the love between you two is tangible even through the Internet! When he gets lost just watching you, it makes me smile. You kind of remind me of me and my husband... we're still silly together, we laugh every day, and we're still disgustingly in love, even after 23 years together. We're weird, though. 😊
+Laynie Fingers Thanks! That's the true love! Being silly to each other and laughing together are the best! (Ryosuke)
Absolutely, Ryosuke! You have to get older, but you don't have to give up having fun. You also support Grace so well when she's feeling poorly, and that reminds me of my husband as well. I hope you two can continue to fall more in love for the rest of your lives!
Laynie Fingers respectband love for both of u from india
I've been to about 4 Ryokan's when i went to Japan last year.

So i'd suggest keeping that in mind.
But the experience i've had with was relaxing and really nice and polite staff members and such.
I just can't stop smiling while watching this! You two are so adorable together! (≧∇≦)
what you said! hahahaXD
When they dipped that beautiful beef that I don't have in that sauce that I don't have, my mouth was wide open and I went into depression.

You can tell how sincere Ryosuke is when he tells you how beautiful you are, especially in the yukata. :3 So sweet. I wish you two so much happiness.
Additional note. Grace, your Japanese accent sounds even more natural in this video. 👍🏻
Yoshikazu Hayashi Awww thanks!!
Yoshikazu Hayashi And she starts to add Japanese words to her English sentences as well. Isnt that progress? :D
Unbelievableone1987

Fantastic, it looks very beautiful and relaxing. 8)
I want to go to Japan someday, and definitely go to a ryokan.
My first visit in japan we went to mt. Fuji and stayed overnight at a ryokan. It was relaxing! I wish I could experience ryokan again
Now that looks damn nice.
There is NOTHING like going to a GOOD resort and eating GOOD well prepared dishes. NOTHING. It is pure heaven to eat good fresh food. As the French say, "Take away the butter, you take away the taste."
Aww, how romantic and peaceful!
Grace you are always doing cool stuff now everyday!! i love it
hey lady I was not being mean at all, youre also attacking people online.
I did not attack you! youre playing the victim! get a hold on reality
lets not bother these nice youtubers with this crazy argument

Matthew Agold Thank you so much! I always try to capture the beauty of everything! haha
There are some really old ryokans. Some almost 1000 years old! I hope we can go to that same ryokan you guys did. Its fun to watch you guys.
If you all put in your Patron that you'll go review a ryokan like this every two months or so I would most definitely tribute!! What a wonderful experience to watch!
いい旅館ですね、最近というか20年ほど旅館に泊まってないので、
最近のガイ人さんが旅館に行ってる動画が、うらやましいですね、

Another excellent video, we are so jealous =) !!
I'm beginning to worry I may to stop watching all these J-vloger channels. Grace and Ryosuke being such a lovely, fun couple and the natural, respectful way they tour and explain things does not make it any easier.

Oh my gosh that seems lovely and I love the clothing ! I am totally fascinated by Japanese kimonos and such .And the history
The private bath was my favorite part ever! Holy Wow!!!
There must be a word that describes being able to taste something just by how delicious it looks! You two looked so happy at this ryokan I couldn't help but smile along with you!
