well Here we go again. Restarting the cycle of watching all of the day in the lives. It never ends. I cant stop because i miss them soooooo much 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I really love how you showed every tiny, "unspectacular" bit of your ordinary day, unlike those fancily crafted tourism-ads-like videos. It's so raw and candid. As someone who grew up in Japan and now lives in Texas (yup, the other way around from you :D), I enjoy finding about Japan through your perspective. Thank you for your lovely videos and blog posts!
Moo Moore Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was trying to figure out what "day in my life" videos actually were and came across quite a few that were very scripted. It seemed kind of... off? Ps - how is living in Texas? :D
Texan in Tokyo Yeah I get kind of skeptical when things look all fancy and exciting :( Texas is as cool as Japan but in a totally different way. There was one time when I was back in Japan shopping at a local supermarket. I casually asked the cashier lady how she is doing, and she froze and looked at me like "did you just talk to me?" Then I realized this is not Texas lol.
It so refreshing seeing a genuine video about someone life. Typically we see RUclips videos about the "average" life of people and apparently everyone wakes up with perfect hair and a creepily happy attitude. At 6:30am I'm a thriller video zombie
Ryosuke is one super early riser, he reads and does stuff at 5am? I can't even barely open my eyes at that time, much yet even to read something. That lunch was super simple yet its super delicious! "Why is there no vegetables today, do they hate Wednesday or something?" - breathless Grace. HAHA that was funny.
I can't believe it has been 7 years already. I come back to this series from time to time, since even after such a long time it hasn't failed to make me smile. I have so many memories from that time period! Especially that we are in similar age. So much has changed since then. I truly hope that you are living your best life, having a wonderful happy family together. I'm sure you are wonderful parents in your new stage of life, and I wish you nothing else, but the best. Even though you probably will never read that!
Having the time stamp in the corner is pretty awesome :o makes the video all the more enjoyable and gives a better grasp of your day. Very interesting vid ^^
I keep coming back to this video... something about it is just so honest and comforting. I know you don't do videos anymore but I hope you know your videos still make an impact on us. :)
I don't know why but honestly the thing that struck me most from this video was how happy you two seem together. I mean you always do haha, but for some reason this simple video about your day made it stand out and it made me smile so thanks for that :)
i've been watching rachel and june channel and i came across you guys !!! boy what a wonderful couple you both are !!! your vlogs are more real in essence , i mean seriously , you both really inspire .... njoy your life guys, i hope you dont stop vlogging any time in future !! Cheers from India
I love her attitude in her videos. She's so cheerful and outgoing. It's nice to see a youtuber in Japan who isn't constantly complaining about how different it in from the US. She just earned a new subscriber!! :D
Thats a really good technique you have taught me. When lacking motivation, stop what you're doing and instead do something you hate, such as running, or any other boring activity like chores, and then you will feel motivated to keep working on what you were doing in the first place, because you dont feel like doing that other thing you hate. I will apply that to my life when Im lacking motivation, thanks!
Pretty amazing how the honour system actually works in Japan. In North America everything would be stolen - the money, the food, probably even the table.
I am too. Being American, I can just see people stealing that within 5 seconds. The rail system in the city I live in has an honor system ( no gates, random ticket checks and you get fined or arrested for a misdemeanor if they find you without) and half of riders don't pay. It just amazes me seeing this. You go, Japan!
+Texan in Tokyo Yeah I am amazed as well. I live in Canada and if I left stuff like that out it would most likely get stolen. I am super surprised at how cheap your lunch was. In Canada if I where to buy that stuff it would most likely come up to 30 of 40 dollars due to how expensive Salmon is up here. Maybe higher or lower never bought salmon before. But Food is really expensive up here especially Healthy food.
That's so fun to see how your average day is in Tokyo. Thanks for sharing and no it wasn't boring. My college life video would be so busy and filled with interesting places, maybe I should make one.
I find it so weird that Americans keep their shoes on indoors, in Canada we also take our shoes off inside and usually walk around bare footed or in socks
That's generalizing it a bit. It honestly seems to depend on the region and the family. In my experience, warmer areas tend to keep their shoes on indoors (or at home, walk to the bedroom and take them off and store them in the closet) and where it's colder (and far more snowy in the winter, not that the south doesn't get cold/snow) it seems like it's more common to take them off right inside the door (usually on an entry rug or tiled/wood floored area depending on the house) and walk around in socks or bare feet. (I'm from the south (and mostly visited family in the south as a kid) where the former is more common and now live in the north where the latter is standard and having your shoes on indoors is pretty rare.)
Ahh that makes sense, though I still feel as if you would still track dirt into the house. I guess it just feels so weird because it is incredibly rude to keep shoes on in someone's home in Canada (unless you have express permission to keep them on) , and when I visited friends in the states I got weird looks taking them off
+Erica Johnson I understand. The areas that keep them on, it's seen as rude to take them off (like you're 'making yourself at home' without permission) so for a while I felt awkward taking them off when visiting people I barely knew. Customs are just different everywhere. I was thinking earlier and realised that with pets, which I realise aren't as big in some places but are here, dirt's going to get tracked in anyway when you let them outside and then back in. I can't see any way around that short of bathing them each time (which is out of the question, especially in winter), or at least washing their paws. Having thought about that, I'll be vacuuming even more often now. lol
Well, I'm from Texas, and no one who lives in my house is allowed to walk around with shoes inside. They stay by the front door. I don't walk around in slippers but I keep my socks on. I think it depends on the person and family in regards to America. I just can't stand to clean dirty floors every time someone walks all over with shoes.
I don't know how I found your channel, but it's fantastic! Love seeing what you guys are up to... I've always wanted to travel to Japan and I'm learning a lot by watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
Wahhh you guys wake up so early! It is so nice of you to wake up and accompany Ryosuke before he goes to work. I would probably just sleep in, hahaha. Loved the idea of running in order to get motivation to write again. I would love to see more of these types of videos. ^^ Thank you for letting us see your daily routine and being true to your viewers (unlike other youtubers who magically wake up fully made up...lol).
actually, i really like these kinds of videos for some reason. it may be just your average day in japan but i find it really interesting. it's nice and simple, and it kind of makes me feel like home, you know what i mean? also, you are ryosuke are a really cute couple, you guys make me smile a whole lot
I find day-in-the-life videos from any one interesting. I guess I just find it fascinating. Also, I just ordered (and pre-ordered!) Your books! I'm really excited to read them!
I love these types of videos! It's always so interesting to see what it's like for others lead their life on the other side of the world. Thanks for sharing Grace! And oh, I'm looking forward to the video where you both speak Japanese! :D
This is actually really nice! It's good to see a video of the American-female perspective of someone living in Japan. I was stationed in Okinawa for two years and now I'm in Fort Bliss. Watching Jvloggers makes me feel that nostalgia again! 😅 Can't wait to watch more! 👍🏾
Wah, the first episode of this came out on my birthday. So cool. I always enjoy watching these even if you think it's something completely random, seeing a snapshot into another culture and country is always interesting.
+Benny Luong Thanks! I can't believe it either!!! I NEVER thought they'd be this popular, hahahaha. I'm working on my 2nd (and last) one in Ghana right now!
My favorite video grace!!!!!! I love seeing other people's days etc. Ryosuke works a long day! Man I bet he's exhausted but at the same time I bet you are ready to see him
I really loved this video. Besides showing life in Japan, you showed how loving a couple's routine can be. You guys are amazing! I'm definitely buying your book on amazon!! :) yup!!! I just bought your book!
This was great! I'm sure you don't feel like your life is interesting but don't underestimate people's desire to see how others live! Very fun and you guys are so cute :)
Thanks for sharing a day of your life in Japan! It is really refreshing to look at scenes from another part of the world (I live in NY state right now). My girlfriend and I are doing the long distance thing, which is how I stumbled upon your blog and your channel!
I love the average day life videos. Because it shows what normal everyday life is like in Japan. Watching this has also got me excited for my planned move to Yokohama in 2018 xD
i love your videos! i am also a Texan hoping to visit Japan one day, so seeing someone from the same place as me living somewhere i'd like to go is very interesting! keep up the good work~!
I’m such a fan been watching forever so sad that they stopped RUclips but sometimes I come back and re watch their videos, feel so happy watching them to know humans like these exist
Watching this makes me want to go to Japan even more. Hopefully one day i am able too.One thing that i dont understand is, how on earth can people wake up sooo early?? My house could be on fire and i will still be in bed saying "five more minutes" lol
Texan in Tokyo Those working hours are scary... getting up at 5:30 and going to bed at roughly 23:20 would kill me. But he can't even get to bed earlier because he's home at like 22:00 :/ Do Japanese people at least have a weekend in traditional companies? Or at least 2 days off during the week even if it's not Saturday and Sunday? I think I've read somewhere that Japanese people generally don't believe if you tell them that every Sunday is by law a day off for everybody but essential services or industries that benefit a lot from that (restaurants, public transport, hospitals and so on). I don't even want to ask about paid holiday (or vacation... do Americans use vacation for just a week or so off from work even if you don't travel?)... We get 6 weeks here (4 by law but unions would rip their industries a new butt hole if anybody tried to offer less than 6). Americans already work an awful, awful lot for my taste but I don't think I could work in Japan with those hours. Maybe as a free lancer (because at least you're your own boss then).
I use to binge watch these videos and they have inspired me to visit or even move to Japan one day. I love you guys so much. And miss you guys ALOT. I respect your decision to leave RUclips and raise your child CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
This was so interesting! I love you guys and I think it's really cool that you'd show us a "day in the life" video. Also, your comics look so cute! I really want to buy one :-)
it was actually lovely to see your day. as a freelance translator (expat) in Mauritius, i can totally relate to your routine and personally i love your lifestyle. i've just discovered your channel today, i'll make sure to check your other videos, too.
Thanks for making this video, it gives me a more realistic view of life in Japan. since I will be over in Japan soon for my language study. Hope to maybe be able to meet up with you guys. 私はあなたの一番ファンです!
LOL YAY! You may think people don't care or aren't interested but hey I AM ! I really found this very interesting and cute :) You made me super hungry with that yummy food btw lol And where you live is beautiful so thanks for showing us ♥
I love your approach to lunch, rice, fresh salmon and soy sauce, so simple and super delicous! I also like that you try to buy local, one of the most important things when it comes to buy food IMHO. And I'm glad there are more "no coffee = bad mood coffee = everything is fine" - people haha
It's actually pretty interesting for me to watch such stuff. It might be just another boring day for you, but for other persons it can be extremely interesting. It's completely different than a typical day in my life. Thanks for making the effort. :)
Omg I'm like salivating over your lunch! Rice and fish (+miso) is always my favorite meal and to think they have my beloved sashimi salmon for so cheap and easy to get exxxcciiittesss meee! I learned something new today ^.^
That was great! What you think is boring is so interesting to me! We all hear and see so much about the "exciting" parts of Japan, I want to know more about the mundane! Love these videos. :D
well Here we go again. Restarting the cycle of watching all of the day in the lives. It never ends. I cant stop because i miss them soooooo much 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Samee. I rewatch for comfort
Every now and then it just hits and you have to come back here❤
I'm still watching these even though you've parted for bigger and better things. Please don't ever remove them! They ease my homesickness for Japan!
I really love how you showed every tiny, "unspectacular" bit of your ordinary day, unlike those fancily crafted tourism-ads-like videos. It's so raw and candid. Viet Lee Me toooo. I don't get lifelike for at least an hour.
"I hate running so much that all of my motivation to write comes back." ... That's one way to exercise... Hahaha
It's so adorable that your husband wakes you up in the morning. Seeing a vegetable vending machine was interesting, I didn't know those existed.
Re-watching all your videos because it’s soothing to me. I miss you both! Hope all is well.
Ryosuke is one super early riser, he reads and does stuff at 5am? I can't even barely open my eyes at that time, much yet even to read something. That lunch was super simple yet its super delicious! Tiffany Ava I know. I can't believe how early he wakes up! It's crazy
Unbelievable indeed.
It's actually normal, it's Asian thing
xD I wake up at 4:00 am to make my homework for school and am from germany

Texan in Tokyo sounds to me like a good way to live

The part when he said "I'm gonna buy Captain America toys" just made my day :)
Xenocide Captain America toys make me happy (Ryosuke)
+Texan in Tokyo Why isn't there a Captain Japan? :D
I love her attitude in her videos. She's so cheerful and outgoing. It's nice to see a youtuber in Japan who isn't constantly complaining about how different it in from the US. She just earned a new subscriber!! :D

You have such a nice, laid back and productive lifestyle in Japan. Can't wait to see the video of you and Ryosuke speaking Japanese to each other!
Some people may see this video as mundane - but not me !!!!
Thanks for sharing your day !!!!
That's so fun to see how your average day is in Tokyo. Thanks for sharing and no it wasn't boring. My college life video would be so busy and filled with interesting places, maybe I should make one.

Your attitude to running is so relatable pahaha -the 14 minutes flew by while watching your video!☺️ lots of love from Ireland! x
Still watch this from time to time. These day in my life videos are so soothing.

***** Yup. I wanted to give a "real" window.
I don't wake up so early ALL the time - but I try to at least 3-4 times a week.
Idk why I love day in my life videos, but these are definitely my favorite
Waking up at 5am to study and having your own time... That's an awesome habit to have
actually, i really like these kinds of videos for some reason. it may be just your average day in japan but i find it really interesting. it's nice and simple, and it kind of makes me feel like home, you know what i mean? also, you are ryosuke are a really cute couple, you guys make me smile a whole lot

As a Texan, I love watching your videos! Much love from the Lone Star State!
This is actually really nice! It's good to see a video of the American-female perspective of someone living in Japan. I was stationed in Okinawa for two years and now I'm in Fort Bliss. Watching Jvloggers makes me feel that nostalgia again! 😅
Can't wait to watch more! 👍🏾
I loved this!
And I would love seeing more, like if you ever go to a super unique market, or a park or square or something.
I love your channel. I left Tokyo in 2012 and I am quite homesick, so following you around in this video is such a treat

I love your approach to lunch, rice, fresh salmon and soy sauce, so simple and super delicous! I also like that you try to buy local, one of the most important things when it comes to buy food IMHO. And I'm glad there are more "no coffee = bad mood coffee = everything is fine" - people haha
Flown87 I like to buy local... it just kind of feels easier. And I prefer simple food (time-wise it's a LOT easier to make, too!)
I never get bored watching your videos =) also, I am hoping to order your comic books real soon!!!
This was fun to watch. Please make more videos!
Ryosuke-san is Mr. Smiley! He positive attitude is contagious.
First time in your channel. Love the vlog
Really loved this video. I just discovered your videos about a week ago when a watched a rachel and jun video. I just think your videos are awesome!
I don't know why but I find your life so interesting with Ryosuke. You look so happy together, what could you both possibly argue about?

Guys just discovered your videos, sooo late! :( You are super sweet and all I talk about now is going to Japan. Cheers from London
Kari senpai! If/when we move back to America, I'm TOTALLY going to miss all the fresh fish!
That was great! What you think is boring is so interesting to me! We all hear and see so much about the "exciting" parts of Japan, I want to know more about the mundane! Love these videos. :D
***** I like the mundane stuff the most :D
Texan in Tokyo Then I look forward to more "mundane" videos from you in the future! ^_^
