Just came across this video and that Cadillac is just beautiful. I live about 15 miles from the Volo Auto museum and it is a great place. The Grams are nice people and they have a large selection of vintage cars, just about any era you like they have something to interest you.
Hi Lou, hi Brian. What a wonderful and smooth sounding Cadillac. I wish the new owner many many years of fun together. Thank you Lou, thank you too Brian.
@@scottstanbro3007 ......hi @Scott Stanbro....I suggest that you grab a cup of coffee and the keys for your lovely and no doubt cherished automobile and spend some time together. I'm pretty sure that just being together you'll both feel better....
some Palestinian brothers: george and marwan, had a 57 sedan deville i always admired. this vehicle, i've never seen in my life. the interior appointments, the analog digital clock! historical. thank you, lou, for capturing this on an obviously brisk morning there.
My friend's Father had one of these as the second owner but he parked in in 1975 and covered it over . It was light green with green inside but was just a 57 Eldorado Convertible. The three things that impressed me for 1957 was that Cats-Eye High Beam sensor on the dash to the left of the Steering wheel. Then there was the power window switched mount on the panel inside the car where the door gap is by the hinge so that the window could be controlled when the door is fully open. When I looked and the tires the Bead area describe them as 'Tubeless' and self-sealing .....this was 1957 and it had a Gold coloured rubber ring next to the whitewall that was about 3/4" wide . It was from California in the LA area but needed work just from its age and ate the fuel. Around 1980 a cadillac buff drove by the house while all the cars were gone for the day and he saw the lower rear bumper sticking out from the canvas cover and KNEW it could only be one type and one year for a cadillac. He hit the brakes and turned around to get a look and then saw those Fin tips and roof where the cover took the shape of a convertible and he knew he struck Gold . The car wasn't for sale but the Caddy buff wanted it and he hit that magic number that was too good to turn down since it was AS-IS with all the original part other than a brake job/ It was low mileage wit the factory tires still on it. Here's what a restored one in the same Green looks like but the white walls are very wide . www.hemmings.com/blog/2013/01/18/first-1957-cadillac-eldorado-biarritz-to-cross-the-block/
Lou, Hello Again! I prefer the 57 single headlight to the 58 dual headlight. I noticed, I believe, that the 58 had a quieter, simpler, more elegant grill front. Just a bar instead of the two bullet, rubber tipped grill decoration? I like that the power antenna is mounted away from the edge of the front fender. To me it makes a more solid, well made appearance than being mounted near the edge of the fender? Though a elegant look could be had either way. You mentioned the radio's in these Caddy's. The signal seeking American car radios worked better than the Becker radios with the same feature, in my dads 1969, and in my Mercedes Benz's. I believe, the simpler better? I like the black and white colors, elegant? Thank You! Peter Brooks.
Hi Andrew, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Hello Lou I enjoy your channel, you Consistently showcase fine Automotive art. Please don't take offense to this, I just have to point it out. You reference this car as... Not using Hub Caps, these are Rims. That's incorrect terminology, the correct term would be Wheels. The Wheel is made of separate components, such as... The hub, where the studs & lug nuts fit. Radiating out from the hub would be spokes, slots or a disc. And the tire which mounts on the rim of the wheel. So the rim is only 1 part of the wheel. Just as a steering wheel in a car has a hub which mounts it to the steering column, spokes that radiate out to hold the rim, but no one would ever say hold hold on to the steering rim. It's called a steering wheel. A coffee cup has a rim around the top edge but no one would ever say give me a rim of coffee, you would call it a cup. Please don't take offense, the whole rim thing is just a pet peeve of mine.
+gene978 Hi gene978, As I'm walking thought the Museum I see the car, stop in my tracks and say to Brian, "What's that?" He shares "It's prepped and going to it's new Owner.", and I say, let's do that one before it leaves. Amazing Car! Thanks for commenting and viewing, Lou
Gotta love those Dagmars' , please tell me the new owner used proper transport to its new home. The salt+snow=slush would not be to kind to this Caddies' paint.
Lou Costabile Thank you Lou. I definitely love Cadillacs. I own a 76 Cadillac Eldorado that im currently restoring. Once completed would love to send you a video of it.
Shoulda stopped at the odometer. I bet the lowest mileage 57 on the planet. I realize you had to scoot along tho The 59s steal all the thunder, thanks!
What a horrible disappointment a Biarritz wouldn't have power everything starting with the windows. Look I'm not gonna kick her outta bed for eatin crackers. Besides no one ever reads these or comments. Enjoyed the video.
