The feelings that Ezio's family gives us is a feeling of nostalgia and sadness, sorrow and determination it tells you about the downfall of a young man's life that happened overnight and how a chain of events was set in motion for this young man to seek revenge, retribution answers and the truth.

Family is not just about the blood that flows through your veins being the same as that of those around you. Brotherhood is the epicenter of it all. The Assassin's Brotherhood are as much Family as Ezio's mother, sister and brothers by birth are. Even long before he picks up his hidden blade.......that Family exists, waiting to embrace him.

    • @MrBlueBurd0451
      @MrBlueBurd0451 Год назад +6

It's basically become the series' theme as a whole because the entire Brotherhood IS Ezio's family. He lost most of his biological family, and gained a family of choice.

I think the thing I like about this track the most is that this is the theme of the entire Brotherhood. "Ezio's Family" isn't just his immediate family, no, Ezio's Family is the entire brotherhood of Assassins. The whole brotherhood, with its many branches, is Ezio's Family.
AC2 holds a special place in my heart even though Unity's my personal favorite. And man was I so hype when this music kicked in in the trailer for Mirage!
PS: I hope you'll listen to more AC tracks. There's so many good ones throughout the entire series, like, even though the last few games haven't really been 'AC' yet their tracks are still amazing.

AC2 and Brotherhood are still my favorites of the series with Black flag following close after. I love how even If I don't agree with where AC has gone this little piece has been adapted into every game that came after.
And that even in Valhalla the newest entry we still have Ezio showing up. This song is on the level of Halo music that will never not make me smile regardless of my circumstances this game and it's music is a part of me like your Italian upbringing and heritage.

Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood were the games that saved my life back in the day. Ezio and the Brotherhood were there at a time that no one else was and that still to this day means the world to me. I will forever love this song and cry greatly when it is played. We all share our stories in some way and music is definitely one of those. We still listen to the music of our ancestors and share the songs we ourselves hold close to our hearts. A great quote to express this fact would be from Ezio when he says "Who are we, who have been so blessed to share our stories like this? To speak across centuries?" This song speaks to many in the fandom and reminds us what we are apart of, a creed, a family. This song expresses so much and has become a constant theme for the entire franchise. It reminds us of how we have shared our stories and connected together through Ezio's and many others tales, in a way that is so very special for us. Video Games mean so much more than just a fun distraction and their stories and music are proof of that. Live the creed my fellow brothers and sisters. Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted.
P.S. You should check out Cathedrals of Steel and Waltzing on Rooftops from Assassin's Creed Syndicate!!!! Great compositions and stunning vocals!!!

I remember Piazza San Marco from Venezia in one of the Ezio games and I still feel the music carrying me through every climb, every hiding, every "salto della fede" (jumping everywhere and conveniently finding hay underneath). every single detail from the culture to the setting to the music is masterfully cared for. I haven't played the games after brotherhood except for black flag and I didn't finish it. The feeling you get as an Italian playing as Ezio is undescribable and in my opinion difficult to reproduce.

I'm Jewish, but hearing you speaking about living in Italy and feeling that pride - man, that is what it's all about. Those games, those stories, were something else - something altogether uplifting for a generation that played them and experienced them.

I can understand italian a bit even without subtittle, I've learn it for one year at school and I'm french.
And what you said about being proud of AC2 as an italian, I feel the same about ACUnity

Ezio is just such a good character and that made the games absolutely incredible. I have to get into that story again. Thanks for letting me know what will consume my soul the next 4 weeks lol.
I love how epic this song is. If you know nothing about AC you can still recognize the sadness the song carries. You can still recognize this is tragic in a way, this is someone struggling and growing into greatness.

Something I loved about the Ezio Trilogy of AC games is some of the more secretive lore stuff hidden behind puzzles, it was honestly really engrossing with how well they grounded all the twists and turns of the AC Universes lore into so many real events and historical pieces of work, and in my opinion there are some parts of the AC Lore that come from this that are incredibly scary with how easy you can make sense of it and almost believe it, it's a shame we never saw anything with such depth since then...

It's used so intelligently in the opening of the game as well. First time you hear it is after climbing the tower with Ezio's brother, and the darkness of the track makes sense later and through out the whole franchise but it also just fits the cool midnight vibes, that weirdly nostalgic feeling at the end of a long night so it's not super on the nose about foreshadowing the tragedy that is about to happen.

One thing I always loved about this theme is the use of different instruments to represent different aspects of the story.
The synth notes: At the very beginning you can hear a synth keyboard in the background, which is symbolic for The Animus. We're seeing the past through a modern lens, this digital viewfinder that lets us experience the memories of those from long ago.
Guitar strumming: Ezio running across the rooftops, whether it's with his older brother or in his own as an assassin.
Vocals: For me represents the setting of Italy, and Florence. Cllimbing to the highest viewpoint and looking over the city, the beautiful vistas of Venice, and the rich history of the Renaissance.
Electric guitar: Ezio's anger and his mission to find those who wronged him. He's a killing machine who cuts through enemies mercilessly, his fighting skills, and a reminder that Ezio won't let anyone get in his way.
Strings: The Assassins, the creed, and the fight against the Templars. Learning to become an assassin thanks to Mario, Ezio's assassin heritage, and the importance of stopping the templars from getting the Pieces of Eden.
Kyd's fingering of the guitar: Ezio himself and his family. His connection with his family is strong, and how he does everything in the game for their sake. The theme ends with this, and my interpretation is that specific moment represents Ezio feeling lost by the end of ACII, and how his life has been turned completely upside down. He went through this entire journey for revenge, and once he achieves it, it doesn't undo everything he and his family went through. He's still an assassin, he hasn't and never will fully destroy the Templar Order, he still can't go back home, he still hasn't gotten answers from the Apple as to why all this is happening, he will never get his life back and he's still on his own

What I like about how this song has survived the passage of the franchise is its mutability. It doesn't require great strides of modification to be as applicable to Bayek and Amunet's tale of loss and vengeance as it is to Ezio's rise and fall.
One that hews close to the original is the one from Odyssey, which largely lacks the more modern instruments, but hits hard with drums and sudden vocals, which to me shows Cassandra's pursuit of family, money, and answers in the Aegean, and which resolves rather quickly, but the second half of which is practically coated in foreboding strings, to show that she never really does succeed in rooting out all the secrecy of her enemies and successors.
It's also worth noting that the song more or less disappeared from the franchise until Rogue of all games brought it back. It wasn't in 3, Liberation, Brotherhood, Revelations, Black Flag, or some of the spinoffs between them. I found it interesting how the designers and arrangers of the score and soundtrack chose to more or less leave it off until the Ezio trilogy was starting to fade from memory and relevance to the series' themes.

Assassin's Creed is one of my favorite game series. I started with the very first game, playing in the Crusades.
Then the Italian Renaissance, the American Revolution, the Age of Piracy, the French Revolution, the Seven Years War, the Industrial Revolution, Classical Egypt, the Peloponnesian War in Greece, and the Age of Vikings
They may a have different settings and each main character fought for their own reasons and values. But they all fought foe another thing, they fought for the brotherhood, for family
Ezio's Family is that sort of culmination, as it has transcended the series and became the theme of the games, with their own twist and spin on it

Jesper Kyd is just on another plane of existence with his stuff, the Hitman soundtrack is so crazy good too. His piece "Apocalypse" is an original opera piece and the latin lyrics also hint at a shadow organization that hasn't even been in the games until 10 years later, idk how he did that

Assassin's Creed is what got me into gaming in the first place. I remember coming home to my friend and he was playing AC2 and AC1. I got to try and immediately got fetched into it. Yes I had played games before that, Need for Speed Most Wanted, GTA and others, but no game got me more attached to the community than AC2. The journey I had from AC2 through to Revelations was amazing. I will never forget that...

This game really takes me back, I remember playing AC2 for the first time when I was 14, really loved the saga up until Brotherhood. I remember listening to this piece and getting goosebumps over and over again. I kinda got disappointed by how the modern day plotline went from Brotherhood onward and haven't played the saga after Revelations, but I might start playing it again with the new chapter that's coming out, the one set in Japan. The nostalgia is getting to me, heh
Also as a native italian speaker my brain was bamboozled when you suddenly switched to italian at the beginning of the video lmao
