    Great, cost effective solution - but you asked why doesn't someone follow the same principles as road tyre manufactures and reinforce the RC tyres- They do, there's a few manufactures offering Belted RC tyre options to prevent ballooning. Proline being one of the most popular.

    Thanks for the video, I've had my 3s Typhon for only 1 month and one of the tires ballooned to the point of tearing ...also well said, I hate how people leave comments saying you're not doing it right, and they're the one looking up how to videos..

      Thanks so much for that comment, as we think alike, it always makes me wonder why if people already are an expert on something they're watching a video on how to do it. If you can drive a full size auto then you'd not watch videos on learning how to drive would you. And they never make their own videos on it either

    Tried and true proven method for sure! Something I've started using, drywall tape made by 3m! It's really, really good and our tires aren't out of balance as bad as using gorilla or duck tape! Give it a try, great video and we subbed!

      Drywall tape by 3M ? ? ? Please tell me more i am a drywall finisher and have no clue what your talking about . . . Like a mesh tape or a fire rated tape cause drywall tape does not have an adhesive

    Second time this week you've saved me loads of grief. On my modified slash ballooning is a major problem. Tires are proline street fighters. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Maybe now I can buy a new body as the tires have worn through the fender tops!!!

    Thank you for this video!!! I own a Redcat Shredder V2, 4wd brushless that the tires balloon worse than any RC truck I have ever owned!!!! I'm sure you probably already know or have seen how much they balloon (the factory tires). I'm excited to try this and already have black gorilla tape and CA tire glue (says CA on the tire glue bottle, imagine that....lol). I was very excited to get the Shredder after watching videos of how tough and durable it was, and IS! I was very disappointed when I first drove it and the tires ballooned and caused its steering to be so erratic! I do believe this will help. If you, or anyone else that reads my comment knows a brand of tires/wheels with 17mm hex that performs very well on the Shredder, especially some that are slightly larger, please let me know. Again, thank you for your video.
    P.S. , I saw a video after this one where the guy used muffler tape which is a thin , moldable, metal tape??? What is your opinion on that? I know it sticks to dirty pipes and mufflers and is durable, seals exhaust leaks....do you think it will work any better than gorilla tape since it is a thin metal? Just curious of your thoughts about that? I was thinking it may be like metal bands like in car tires? Wider, but metal, IDK just curious if anyone has tried it and what your opinions of that is. I have it on hand as well. Sorry for long message. Thanks

    2 things I've noticed on my tires that have Never ballooned before.
    1: there was debris in side the tires , squeeze the tire and felt sand/gavel , etc.. (felt firmer)
    2: tires are still glued, BUT the edge has a slight lift if the glue compared to non-balloing tires up front.

    Wow, why don't you just use some fishing line in between the tread? Much faster and works great. Look it up.

  • @humboldtef

    To the point of not being able to do this once they're glued on you can bake the tires off or boil them, the heat breaks down the glues bond. Now this doesnt always work well for the wheels if they are thin or flimsy so its possible they wont survive. I ruined my set of stock Senton wheels, but with crawler wheels that are made much thicker the tend to survive just fine.
    I've done this without adding extra glue with decent results. I also think I like the idea of using the standard Gorilla tape due to the fabric reinforcement inside, though it is more weight.

      Indeed my own attempts at removing my SMT10 tires were just like yours and ended in disaster. I tried a few methods suggest on youtube to remove the tires but the best and fastest one I did was to buy new tires and rims! I had so much pain with trying to remove the glue I couldn't recommend it to you guys only to see someone complain they'd melted a rim or two. I'd be open to using the fabric tape. Indeed I've been googling steel duct tape and it does exist, although a roll can be about as costly as new tires! Thanks for taking the time to comment, much appreciated

    You should always clean the tires especially when they're brand new because of the releasing agent from the mold won't let the glue stick so you should always clean the tire and the rim to achieve proper adhesion

      I shall clean the next set with alcohol blew one on 6s but it looks like the tape/glue came adrift - so your comments are duly noted!

      I just removed the rubber off my rims. Soak the wheel in acetone. You can also use heat but acetone would have been easier.

      Axiomatic RC u can use gorilla tape or if the tires r already glued u wrap them with heavy test fishing line-thread wrap tires 2-3 times n use ca glue to hold the thread in place

    Great video. I use what in the States is called packing or strapping tape. It has strings run continously through it, almost making them like belted tires. Or Gorilla outdoor tape. Just my 2 cents. Again, great video.

      thanks, I've been looking online and you can get metal tape BUT it's silly money (Like I could buy 4 tires cheaper), but if I can get some I'll revisit this one, testing them on 4S on the arrma granite later this week, thanks for sharing the info on the tape. Much appreciated

      Indeed where possible I buy 'good' tires but I'm finding a lot of the time I can't get tires that are up to the job, or cost too much versus the limited use I have in mind for them e.g. some of the stuff I over power, do speed runs then set the car back to stock.

    word to the wise, during a instructional video you should leave out all the side chatter BS about peoples comments, most people are hear to pick up some information "which was perfect and im about to apply to my tire install right now, so thank you" but do not wanna hear petty arguments over comments.

  • @STEVOD313

    I’ve seen guys use the gorilla tape trick n also if they r already glued using the heavy test fishing line-thread n use ca tire glue to hold it in place once u wrap them 2 to 3 times

    • @DriftomaniacsRC

      ooooh! I've always had a bad feeling about the fishing line. Take this example, UDR weighs about 16lbs, at 50mph it's carrying a lot of momentum, if that fishing line caught or snagged on anything would that momentum pull the heavy duty line through the tire like a cheese wire slice? Just my two pennies worth.

  • @billyjameson1351

    Hey Richie next time try using Gorilla duct tape. It's super strong and wicked good adhesion. I also recommend if you have a heat gun then to apply a light layer of heat onto the gorrila tape and you can pretty much work out all the bubbles and creases. Great video, just a couple of suggestions to try out some time. This way also works great as you showed.

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  6 лет назад

      Chris that comment is much appreciated as I can see the value add in that, I love the heat gun idea as that'll nicely soften everything all round for a better fit. I may try that again with gorilla duct tape, heat and another set of these as they're only $20 for 4. Nice tip much appreaciated. Should be running them on the arrma granite speed run car later this week. Just shortened the front springs with dremel and blow torch (Just editing that 'how to video' as we speak)

    Would linning the tires with double sided tape work as good

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  4 года назад +1

      I guess you'd get the same result but no need to use double sided, however if that's to hand then it'd do the job BUT you risk it sticking to the inner side of the rim when landing hard and the tires compressing
