Excellent musician, who has a great grasp of dynamics. But it goes to show you what good composition is, and that a great song, played well and with spirit, lends itself to pretty much any instrument. I would hope that the onlookers behind the camera, on the other side of the mall, were a little more moved than the folks we can see.
I think a lot of people are a bit too self-conscious to truly embrace the music while others are watching. They seemed captivated nonetheless, or they would have continued walking. Hopefully this great talent is getting the recognition he deserves behind the camera.
The musician plays in Brazil. I know how great is Foo Fighters, but here (I'm a Brazilian guy), Foo Fighters is unknown to the general public. Probably, because of this had no recognition he deserved. But to me, it was fantastic.

I'm crying inside right now. That band carried me through the strangest, most difficult, yet healing period of my entire 58 years, this past two years. I got to see them live in St.Louis in August '21. Dear Taylor Hawkins left this world the day after my 58th birthday in '22. I'm nobody. I'm certainly not nearly as immersed in grief as his family & extended family. I still struggled deeply with that loss. I'm finally able to listen to their music again-- because my soul needs it. Then I stumble across this. ❤️ This guy is beyond good. I thank him for this rendition. But all of this cover reached every particle of my being tonight. Such a bittersweet yet necessary and healing feeling I got from your performance. Thank you!! 💖🎶🎹
The way he plays on the pre chorus ("and I wonder...") there's a different chord at the end, and it instantly changes it to sound like the intro for an 80's family sitcom. Idk. Just what I hear. Not a bad thing, its actually interesting to have a song you love changed so much by a slight variation like that. Great cover.
I think in this version he continually goes up like two or three extra chords but in the song it stops a bit sooner and bounces between two different chords at the end of the progression and is sustained. He sustains too but its probably a higher pitch which makes it feel different. Just a guess though
@@Datanditto while it may be the CHORDS there is a lot more to music than the chords, the key difference here that completely changes the sound of this section is that in the original the guitar plays a melodic riff that starts on the 7th degree C# and walks up the scale towards the 5th (A) but turns around and lands on E sitting on top of an A major chord. in the piano arrangement he does the same walk up but instead of turning around and going back down to the E he completes the walk up and lands on the A on top of the A major chord. Additionally in the original the bass is playing a pedal tone on the root, just smashing out a low D as the guitar walks up until finally moving to an A when the guitar lands on the E. This is mirrored by the guitar that is letting his open low D ring during the walk up until it moves to an A when he lands on the E forming a power chord. The pedal D underneath the movement creates a substantial tension and subverts the harmony giving it a very different feel from what is played here. When combined with the change to the melody this arrangement is significantly brighter and cleaner and consequently creates the 80s sitcom theme effect Spencer mentioned. None of this is said to disparage this piano arrangement which is great and was played superbly with a lot of feeling. I only went in to this much detail because i felt like your answer was pretty dismissive of the original comment that had actually identified the change but just couldn't articulate it. if something sounds different take some time to try to see if it is different. maybe go compare and contrast if possible.

Man, Everlong is my FAVORITE All time rock song from any band. I love the Foo Fighters. Sadly, all of the other piano versions I've heard were calm and melancholy and didn't sound good. But THIS. THIS was the TRUE piano version I've been searching for!! It appears that the people in the video don't even know what he's playing, and I'm like "They are witnessing a new Foo Fighters member play the greatest song by them, and they look like they all live under a rock and don't know what true talent is."
