For sure. I would ask for ID also in conjunction with his badge, etc. I have no issue IDing myself to uniformed cops if they think I might be doing something. If I was in this guy's shoes I would ask for uniform too
Brandon Garretson I don't. They were showing ID and he recognised the fact that they were officers and as such there is no need for a uniform. This is just some fuck wit thats obviously done something wrong (hence the reluctance to talk to the officers) and making a scene and being obstructave and thought he could bully his way out of the situation. I am surprised that he didn't play the race card.
cplcabs He didn't do anything wrong which is why the ran a background and let him go. Apparently you didn't watch the entire video. Nor does showing an idea or badge make you a police officer plenty of fakes are manufactured. He was well with in his rights but according to you that's making a scene. Why don't you actually go study the law before acting as if intelligent. The man has a right especially when being randomly grabbed and pulled to the side. Nor does not wanting to talk to police mean you've done something wrong that's an argument out of ignorance and a wild assertion.

Leone Boxing So you just proved my point. Black Americans have half the number of deaths as white Americans while having 1/6 the population compared to white Americans. You are a fucking idiot.
He really does have a right to be suspicious. Anybody can walk up with a fake badge and ask those questions. Not something I would have thought about on the spot, so props to him for being cautious.
+screamingdoor Yes, but he didn't have to be loud and belligerent either. In fact it's most likely that the undercover officers wanted to take him aside because they wanted to avoid causing a scene. He could've just requested for a uniformed officer but been a lot quieter and polite about it. The way he acted probably just made the officers all the more suspicious of him.
Xombie007 He was requesting for a uniformed officer and obviously wasn't getting what he was asking for. If he was genuinely worried about these guys (rightfully so) he;s not going to follow them outside. The next best thing is to make a scene so people are watching you and at least they are aware of what is going on. In the end he had to call the police himself. The good thing about him being loud about it was it causes the person who posted this to record it. That's smart if you ask me.
***** Yes he was fortunate that there was an individual there (most likely another Black fellow) who was recording the incident. I've observed that this is something that Black people often do for one another whenever they see one of their kind being confronted by the police, ever since the Rodney King beating back in the 90's in L.A. But if you look at the footage, nearly everyone else was more afraid of him being loud and belligerent as if he's another underwear bomber or something. No one was trying to side with him or offer him any assistance because of his behavior. If he had just calmly told the undercover officers, that he is afraid for his own safety in going with them somewhere private because he can't tell if their badges are real or not, and possibly maybe alert one or two passengers around him (again in a calm manner), then someone may've stepped up and even made that call to the LAPD that he was asking for. Heck, even the undercover officers may've acknowledged his position and conducted their "search and questioning" right there on the spot instead of trying to take him somewhere private. All I'm saying is that being loud, uncooperative, and belligerent, only serves to work against him, no matter how you look at it. It's definitely NOT the smart thing to do!
Xombie007 The fact of the matter is that we are missing the whole situation. What we do know is from what was caught on camera. By the looks of things, he honestly probably did tell the undercover officers that he didn't feel safe. The undercover officers weren't compliant with his request for a uniformed officer on the scene and that's enough to raise suspicion in anyone. They even went as far as getting TSA agents (which we all know are thugs in a uniform) instead of actually calling the police which the man requested. I don't really know where you are from geologically, but in LA, people try and keep to themselves. At least he made enough of a scene to get somebody to record the situation for him. And yes, the camera man was another person of color. It shows it at the end of the video.
***** I'm from L.A. born and raised... which is why I brought up the Rodney King beating from the early 90's. And like I said, I've seen Black people recording incidents on behalf of other Black people who are confronted by cops. It's especially easy these days since a smartphone is all you need. Back in the day, they had to use camcorders and such. Anyway, regarding this particular incident, The FACT remains... the man would've been far better off not being loud, belligerent, and just behaving like a jackass, scaring everyone else around him! That's probably why no one wanted to assist him (not even the other Black guy recording), when he asked if someone can call local PD on his behalf. Also, TSA agents and airport security have a very difficult job to do in trying to ascertain the criminals and terrorists from the loudmouth idiots like this guy, and they absolutely have the right to detain and arrest people who are non-compliant with their requests. The fact that these people restrained themselves from gang-tackling, tasing, and beating the crap out of him (as he would've likely tried to fight them), is vastly to their credit. Finally, if Black people (as well as some others) didn't have this constant "fight the power" attitude while going through life, they would've, as a race, been much further along in general as other minority races that came to the U.S. well after them!
Yo fo real , fo real . Camera man I dont know the victim who was filmed but he have been family or a friend either way you stuck with the recording his safety. I hope people pay it forward aswell in any way they can. May God bless you 🙏
The guy seems perfectly reasonable, some random person's grabbed him, asking him very personal questions, he asked for a uniformed officer... I would've walked off myself...
Wtf they don't need a uniform bro.. wtf the uniform has to do with anything? If they're undercover they're still cops.. what they do need is a warrant for his arrest.. don't have one? can't take him.. so the poor guy is actually good to walk away with all the freedom he owns..I like the fact that he stood his ground normal and calmly like a boss.
Brandon Fermin Thank you! 👊 That's what I'm saying. The problem ocurred when they grabbed his arm. Without a warrant, they were wrong to do that. I would've floored him for grabbing my arm.
@Linda Terry you sound like an insane idiot who's racist to top it off. In what Bizarro world does this guy seem to be on drugs!? Are you kidding me? Get your head out of your butt
@Linda Terry STFU.... You sound like a brainless idiot! The guy is extremely frustrated and probably nervous as to why these strange men approached and grabbed him for no reason, so his adrenaline is through the roof... Mine would be to if so random guys asked me my name, date of birth, and how much money I have on me!! Also, if they see anything suspicious in people's luggage during an X-Ray, they don't stand around asking questions, they walk you to a room and start searching immediately... So next time you should think before you say anything.
@@markarmstrong3374 "no innocent flower?" These men were following a Name at the airport. Right!?!?!???!? Camera man deserves an award! He just showed everyone how to stop an armed robbery via civil seizure and civil forfeiture. This video should’ve gone viral years ago
For all we know these could have been dirty cops who found out this guy was carrying cash and trying to confiscate it, by planting something on him. He was right to call for another uniformed police officer. This officer was trying to bait him by getting all his personal space, he was hoping he would react so he could find something to charge him with. Glad everything got worked out, because this could have went bad. The fact that the cops just knew that they had a criminal is the most disturbing, because he is an innocent man being treated as if has committed a crime. Thanks for filming this as this may be something that these officers do and they don't care if your innocent or not. Kudos to the guy for standing his ground when some would say if he has nothing to hide he should just comply. He made the right choice because something was definitely fishy about that interaction, I would have filed a complaint once I made it back to Atlanta.
An educated man would know that by entering into the airport environment, he voluntarily forgoed certain rights and made himself subject to search by TSA. Theres a difference between thinking you're smart and being smart. Remember that while you're standing on your hill.
Eric Harris No it is not. Any clown can go buy a piece of tin. Besides that, hes is standing for his rights. If he is a cop he has no right to grab him untill he is under arrest, and the cop MUST show a form of ID before that is to EVER happen.
Eric Harris No he's not dumb Ass! People walk away with strangers and disappear every damn day in this country!! Just because someone flashes a badge that can be bought at toys r us is no reason to trust them, and let them take you away from witnesses!!! How dumb are you??
Eric Harris Yeah you’re right and whites do what they do best, just being plain stupid. You suckers get a badge and you think you run the world. You all are fucking cowards.
P A, you do realize they are likely either a Air Marshall or an undercover TSA agent. Police officers aren't inside the actual terminals unless they are in uniform.
@P A, Air Marshals and TSA are NOT the same thing. Not even close. That's like saying a ATF member is the same as the FBI. Please do your research first.
Its because they don't need probable cause to do pretty much whatever they want with the guy if he's on probation or parole. If he said yes, this video would've probably ended with this guys face in the ground.
While going through the airport, their machines saw he had cash. The cops want his money, and under civil forfeiture they can just take it. No charges, no finding of guilt. They say that your money is illegal and they take it.
He said "Are you on parole or probation?" like he was sure of it. Wtf? How can you act like that's ok? The whole time the cop is trying to Condescend him as well, coming off completely disrespecful for no apparent reason other than the guy didn't roll over when he told him to. Childish..
You are incredibly naive. The guy is part of a drug ring. The police know who he is and are trying to verify his dob. An obvious question to a drug dealer is how much money he’s carrying. I can’t believe the idiotic responses on here like the undercover officers just picked him out of 1000 pe.
@@sebastianwright1999 you're the only idiot. Nowhere in this video did anyone say he was a suspected drug dealer. Nowhere in this video did they arrest him or detain him. Should have had his disrespectful loud mouthed ass in jail - he could see all of the uniformed officers he wanted to from inside his cell. Punk, nothing more.
When something like this happens you keep asking, "am I free to go?" Until you get an answer, if they say no ask "why am I being detained" if they have a lawful reason you stay. But under no circumstances is any police officer allowed to ask for ID unless you are being detained or in a traffic stop. I wouldnt like the way they handled this situation either
That wouldn’t have worked in this case. Those guys were trying to rob him. He made the perfect decision by causing a gigantic scene. You can be detained without being charged of a crime and arrested. They were trying to coerce him to peacefully go with them somewhere out of public view so they could steal his money via Civil Seizure/Civil Asset Forfeiture, or otherwise known as Policing for Profit. They would’ve brought in a Currency dog, searched his bag while detained (legal) and claim his money tested positive for drugs. Just like that they would’ve stolen his money.
For the one officer to just blab out loud asking if he was on parole was totally uncalled for. Big respect for the guy keeping his composure with these cops breathing down his neck.
Still able to smile, be polite after been through an unpleasant situation. Good on the person for filming from start to end. 👌🏼Unfortunate start/happy end. 👍🏻👏👏👏

renato r children are tsught question free compliance when it comes to law enforcement in school. There used to be a cop that would visit my school named "officer friendly" who ironically stopped showing up due to harassment and fear because he spoke up against fellow officer's wrongdoings and was black balled for doing so. Fortunately he was able to explain the situation to us on what he knew would be his last visit.
He had every right to ask for a policeman with a uniform to confirm if they were cops, for his safety. Everyone has that right. I got emotional because i have a 24 year old son and that's scary to be pulled out like, in a state where you are visiting obky, when there are so many people there and be singled out. For sure. I would ask for ID also in conjunction with his badge, etc. I have no issue IDing myself to uniformed cops if they think I might be doing something. If I was in this guy's shoes I would ask for uniform too
Brandon Garretson I do too mate..infact i think he was more than reasonable and very well within his rights ..

Mad love to the camera man that stuck with him!

Nah you have to wait until you're not detained which legally can't exceed an unreasonable amount of time.

They will actually call my supervisor over this all the time, some flash a police badge when they need the Blue ATL badge 😒😒😒 I hate these guys...
That's crazy. Good for that man. He felt like his life was in danger.
I'll bet he was confronted simply because he was the blackest guy there. He's just asking for a regular officer

Looks like there tryna pass a new law AWB alive while black....
***** this is usa baby...
***** double standarts baby!
Probably correct on that assumption.
Lol...TSA agents came and walked back not going to be part of this!!!!
They have zero authority in this situation. This police is initiated.
I like this kind of video with proper ending ,good job videographer
Is it strange to anyone else that this guy is an actor and filmmaker?
Dawn break nope.
What’s strange is how they tried to take his money in the 1st place.
It was probably a paparazzi that had time to video it since there were no celebrities to take pictures at.
thank You Tony Vera, for keeping that camera on. It really does make a difference for those of us who have to Live While Black!
this black man was arrested by a hispanic 1st. So dont give me this racism BS. 2nd. He was arrested and charged. So i guess you look stupid now
It must be horrible to live while black
Good lesson, you ALWAYS have the right to ask for an uniform officer!
Lol, cite the law that says that.
More than likely, your some shitty armchair YT lawyer talking out his ass.
TheMrKlowb You don't know what you're talking about. They have the same thing for traffic stops. If you feel that the person that is pulling you over is not a cop, you can continue to drive and call 911 for help.
I agree I thought the same. He just a coloured guy being a fucking drama queen. He should of just told the undercover police wha they'd required to know besides all that drama that was unessacary
Alan Doherty Colored Guy??? What decade are you living in?
Arya Javaheri
Lol, cite the law that says that.
More than likely, your some shitty armchair YT lawyer talking out his ass.
Good job brother, keep educating those that would not understand their oath as public servants.
SubhanAllaah wal Hamdulillaah!!!
I just want to Thank the man who stayed there and filmed the event for this mans safety👍
This guys is being perfectly reasonable with his request for a uniformed police officer. Brother I am so sorry you had to experience this. We don’t know each other but I would have your back bro.
*IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.* 👏✊
Zana's World starting to look like they don't apply to us. I watch these videos and many are the same. these officers have no legal probable cause to detain these citizens and then arrest them for something frivolous after the fact. nobody seems to care.
T O yet you didnt see what happened before the vid started to make an informed opinion. Why was he so happy at the end and saying "they were just doing their job?"
I'm glad you mentioned me in this response because I didn't write this comment. I'll contact RUclips. not even the way I speak or write for that matter
+The Sarge Because fricken real cops showed up to save him from those plain clothed clowns.
They don't need on at an airport
Dude kept his cool and didn’t freak out…protected himself..and then at the end says that they were just doing their jobs. Much respect to him.
Thanks for uploading this. Shows a lot of tension these days and people should be careful how they approach visitors as not everybody is a bad person
I wish there was Franklin from gta 5, he would have handed TSA ass without the slightest hesitation... ;))
he has a point. random ass dudes step to you demanding to know how much money you have?
Depending on the jurisdiction, by law, you must declare cash over given amounts when travelling abroad. (It's €10000 when flying out of countries within the EU).
Damian De I'm sure they have a declaration place and be in airport uniform if they need to pull you a side. not just as you leave the airport. common sense. see it as it is.
chris d are u fucking kidding me ? Have u ever been in a airport ? It's not the fucking streets those are airport workers they make sure it's safe for all of us and our families to travel this kind of check up is so damn routine it's not even funny how stupid u guys should and with all this race shit u Americans have everyone even ur selfs fuck out of here with ur bullshit
Xmarksthespot do you see uniforms? because I don't. look like regular people until they pulled out badges.
chris d are u kidding me man ppl like you are the problem !!! They told him so many times and nicely you can really go to jail for not co-operating with the officers the law is fair and easy if you follow it !!
The man behind the camera was kind enough to record the police confrontations. Things could have gone left if this wasn't recorded so props to camera guy.
He's a respectsble looking young guy. The guys with a smirk on their faces looked suspicous.
Racial profiling at LAX at its finest 👀 imagine that 👀 I would sue them
@ Robin Brown :
You'd be within your rights to sue.
That being said, you'd very likely have your lawsuit dismissed, based upon "Qualified Immunity" of the officers.
Are you on parole or probation?
How much money do you have on you?
Welcome to the Police State.
If you weren't there taking a video, things may have gone a little differently.
You did him a BIG SOLID.
Not victims if you are breaking the law. If you're not doing anything wrong then the end of this video will be the result. Let go with no issues and the understanding of them just doing their job.
Blake Melkey please stop, like literally your explanation and reasoning are awful... you’re the type of person to wanna say “injustice against minorities is a myth”
For sure, this is shady
Blake Melkey innocent until proven guilty. Anybody can walk up to you with a party store police badge and ask you how much money you have. I would ask for a regular police officer too
traveling while black...
Thank you for staying and filming the incident. It was a violation of his constitutional rights 100%. It is a shame that we are not strong enough to stand against this criminal activity that happens to us always and has the world brainwashed to believe that it is ok because they claim it's their job.
just want to say: awesome job, to whoever was recording this. always record interactions with police. be involved. we have to watch out for each other...
Thank you Joshua
totally agree with Joshua...you see this stuff going down record it...fuck the dark shadow thugs, wanting to work in the dark, hide in the shadows, and feel threatened when people record them...sick of corrupt assholes
I was a cop and you can't tell if a plain clothed officer is an imposter or not, there should have ben a uniformed police officer with them or a police sgt. so it would be legit, especially in the times that we live in now.
renato r children are tsught question free compliance when it comes to law enforcement in school. There used to be a cop that would visit my school named "officer friendly" who ironically stopped showing up due to harassment and fear because he spoke up against fellow officer's wrongdoings and was black balled for doing so. Fortunately he was able to explain the situation to us on what he knew would be his last visit.
Amen
Good job recording and protecting the brother… thank you for your hard work…Always praying 🙏…
We all have too do this thank you my friend 👍♥️🚔✈️👀📸🙏
He had every right to ask for a policeman with a uniform to confirm if they were cops, for his safety. Everyone has that right. I got emotional because i have a 24 year old son and that's scary to be pulled out like, in a state where you are visiting obky, when there are so many people there and be singled out. People can't relate because if you aren't a minority or a black male, you can't identify with peoples fear. God bless the person who recorded this and didnt judge. The young man had a good attitude at the end and under stood, the police work. So it ended on a good note. ❤
You obviously haven't been to Europe...lol
"If YoU'rE NoT a MiNoRiTy, YoU cAn'T ReLaTe" Why don't you do some more international traveling and see how people treat you when you're a foreigner....
Tony Vera thank you for being there to record and save his life maybe it could have gone wrong but he is a respectful calm educated man
Video guy probably saved this man's life. Seems a fabrication in the making if something went wrong or cops were gonna rob him.
The one "officer" who asked if he was on probation or parole - what an asshole. That's degrading to say to someone in a crowd of people - he has no business being in any form of authority. He was mad that the guy wanted uniformed police officer's so in retaliation tries to embarrass him. That's someone you would have to watch out for - he's just corruption waiting to happen.
1:11 The disrespect the so called officer showed by shouting out and inferring this man is a criminal without even knowing him . Asking if he is on probation or parole, every Black man he sees is guilty, whilst trying to legitimise his suspicious actions.
They assumed that he was on probation or parole first of all. WHY IS THE MILLION $ ?👌
fOREALS
This guy is completely correct
Muse Russell23 How do you know?
Adam x because of everything he's saying. Get a uniformed police If everything's alright
If they were not in a crowded LAX airport this wouldn't have went over this way
Vegas Mendoza' you’re right. He’s lucky he was in a crowded major airport. In Any small airport he would’ve been forcefully detained and robbed of whatever money he had on him.
Tony, I love your videos. You're always doing the right thing. Thank you for sticking by this man's side.
Thank you Paulina ♥️👍🦉👁👁
Couldn’t have been more polite two guys in plainclothes trying to punk him good job brother
They showed "Get Out" on his last flight.
Racist comment.
😂😂😂
@@UR_Right24 who cares?
I think dude is dead on for asking for a uniformed officer.
Totally. It's a legitimate safety concern. Anyone can get a badge at Toys R Us. Or a mall-cop shirt at Goodwill or online.
It's pretty much a settled precedent in this country that you don't have to take a plainclothesed cop at face value.
7:58 we the "chill-pill" brothers talking cool...respect to the guy that stood by the brother's righteous side... ;)
