I lived on Elaine. My neighbor, Tim, had a car wash rim that went right down into his house. My 3 young kids and I looked out and it was right there. We ran into the hall closet. Yes it sounds like a train like people say. It was horrifying.

October 9, 2001 was the day. I lived on massingale. Between 2 and 3rd Street. We outran it in an 89 escort. Went north two blocks and back to the west 3 blocks to my future step dad's house. Mom and him thew us kids into the tub and a mattress over us while they were in the closet. It was a wild ride. My mom was supposed to start working at the nursing home on that Thursday. When it passed we went to check on our place and turn the valve to the propane tank off. We needed the national guard because the other side of town came over and was stealing stuff. I had stuff stolen out of the freezer We used for storage. We had to wear tags for a couple months. Because we ended up staying at my dad's house on 5th north of the football field and us kids walked to school. Really felt wierd too. But the churches did help a lot.
