I’m doing much better now! I should be done with treatments my November. Thankfully, the type of cancer I have is not just treatable, but curable. It’s truly a blessing that I have the circumstances I do, even if they aren’t ideal. Thanks for the response, it means a lot!
It’s true, man. There’s so many fans out there writing fan fiction online for free, that almost always deserve the chance to work on something like this. One of my favorite authors, Jonathan Maberry, would absolutely nail a Goosebumps revival, because his Pine Deep Trilogy books are able to balance truly scary and funny jokes perfectly. He was one of the only authors I ever read that could pull that kind of thing off, to begin with hahah. Such a shame.
So the article that came out day revealed which books that are going to be the in show : The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, The Haunted Mask, Night of the Living Dummy, Say Cheese and Die, and… Go Eat Worms!…. Yeah I don’t know how I feel about it, I have mixed thoughts. My negatives- the Travis Scott song was pure cringe. The jokes presented in it was cringe. The angle they’re going with Nathan Bratt (Justin Long) has been done time and time again, most famously with Jason Voorhees lol. The characters are all one note, at least the core cast of high schoolers. It seems the story will be predictable and not that exciting. And since the Haunted Mask is being done, not phantom of the auditorium, if THAT mask is the Haunted Mask, I’m out lol. Positives - the fan service of the monsters shown in the trailer was nice. The say cheese and die camera appears to have a bigger role than the others, Slappy in the brief shot we got looked creepy, and the tone and setting of the episode was kinda neat. Looks like it will be well made but the biggest concern is the writing. Btw, the trailer was leaked via a Twitter post, which took people to an unlisted trailer on Disney Plus’ RUclips page that had been uploaded for 6 days. Once I guess they caught on to that, they took the video down and all links to the trailer have been broken. Meaning, for those that didn’t see it already, have to wait I guess until they officially release it. Great video Michael, I agree with your reservations about it!
Wait Go Eat Worm's, why? They said this show would be based of popular books. Even Stine hates that one. Also I agree with The Haunted Mask statement. They better not ruin it.

The Slappy in the trailer is the same one from the poster leaks back in June (yes, those were real). I think he looks *very* creepy. And his vibes might save the show, especially if he sounds just as eerie. Hopefully the other monsters are just as creepy. Maybe Spidey will show up? And the giant worm?
I read an article earlier that said 5 episodes would be released on October 13th and an episode a week after that. I'm definitely excited for this show! And I seen the trailer when I first woke up but have yet to find it since.
I'm really pumped for this new series, but it feels like it's missing something. Also, I feel like there's gonna be a thing where Slappy isn't really gonna be Slappy. And what I mean is that in the trailer I saw an evil spirit possessing people and I feel like that spirit is just gonna use a ventriloquist dummy for a body. Kinda like a Chucky thing. But all and all, I'm really excited for the new Goosebumps.
I love creeped out. I'm hoping that they make more seasons. I feel like Stine could've made books a bit similar to creeped out like the phone. He could've done something like that along with where the girl could control her parents as puppets. Stine could've done something like that. Maybe he could've named it the haunted phone, and something for controlling the parents the way the girl did which was creepy. Maybe he will one day.

I hope other channels of mine might help out, if you like movies. I’ve tried a few different ones that never really turned-out how I wanted them. I’m currently working on a movie review channel I called the same name as another old channel I had-Night Of The Living Dude. The newer one only has about three subs, but I’m currently reviewing through the Saw movie franchise, leading up to the newest movie. I can’t talk about brand new theatrical releases, though, because my work schedule doesn’t allow me to make it to those, so I mostly spoiler-free review movies from the past hahah. The Goosebumps channel is pretty popular, but now that I’m basically done with reviewing practically everything, it’s hard to make new videos for the channel, you know what I mean? Hahah. If you check out the movie review channel, I hope you’ll enjoy it. @michaelgoosebumpsfan9934 yeah that's pretty accurate, I just know it came out in 2018, when I graduated and to give the editors of the trailer credit it's still kind of everywhere in Gen Z circles, especially with Travis recently dropping an album I can definitely see how it's a bit of a miss, but from what I hear mindlessly swiping tiktok hear and there, there are definitely much worse modern songs, even ones that mention "getting goosebumps" they could've chosen Ultimately I just hope the show can pull through for a season 2, or maybe an anthology spin off

Imma kept it real, they trailer looks kinda bad. It has this Travis Scott song which did not fit at all, the show does not feel like Goosebumps at all, more like stranger things. The kids are also some stereotypical teenager types that are cringe Also, from the lineup of shows that were listed. That mask at the end is def The Haunted Mask, and they completely butchered it. It looks like a completely basic wooden mask that would be used in prototypes
I wouldn’t assume too much about that mask yet, man. That could just be from a mask shop they actually find the HM in. Maybe. Lol. Hoping it’s better than the two trailers lol.

Just saw the full trailer. Hmmmm there is definitely potential. Literally, the biggest negativity towards the movies was how childish they felt. This definitely seems darker in tone. So that's one tick on my list. But there is definitely other questionable things. 🤔 Need more of a close-up of Slappy to give my final judgement. Will the original theme song play during the intro? 🤔 Lots of questions unanswered.
Agreed with everything you said, man. The dark tone the trailer seems to set could be a good thing, but Disney has fooled me before with things like Age Of Ultron looking super gloomy, only to have Ultron making jokes the entire movie lol. Really hoping it’ll stick the landing lol. Can’t wait to see your videos about it!

Michael goosebumps fan. On Saturday September 9th is the d23 expo that’s where we can get to see the full official trailer for goosebumps series on RUclips. I will be watching it because it was the teaser trailer on RUclips
Supposedly this expo is only for a certain Disney thing that doesn’t involve their regular IPs that are TV-centric. That’s what I was told the expo was, at least.
I wish they would just "modernize" the original 62 books. Do the same adaptations and make them scary (like the 90's shows atmosphere was going for) but with todays graphics. They never adapted like 20 of the original books into shows anyways and those 20 or so they never adapted, had some of the best original Goosebump books that I've always wanted to see adapted/on the screen (Ghost Camp, Night of The Living Dummy with Mr. Wood instead of Slappy, Monster Blood sequels, etc.) you get my point. We have a lot in common. Feel like that's all the real fans want and it's like "nope, here's a watered down disney-fied" version. Every time lol. It's disappointing. I don't think these folks who made the films or this series quite know/get the "feel" Stine's books and the 90's show were really hitting with our age group. They've turned it into a happy wink-and-nod thing; less spooky. Idk. The song they used in this trailer was very cringe and doesn't fit, and it just shows that this should and was supposed to stay an anthology-like series. They really could have done something like a Stranger Things "feel" where it's serious natured and dark with the original books that were more creepy. They could do something fun with today's Monster Blood graphics and the more adventurous books. The characters in here are older (as in older than 12, like most main characters in the books) and I just don't give a "you know what" about them. Kids are "innocent" and I can root for them easy. I can't "root" for much of todays actor/actresses. They're usually obnoxious and annoying in every aspect. The kids from the 90's show weren't expert actors by any means, but there was a charm to them. Wish they could figure it out lol
Agreed about practically every single thing you said, man-especially the end with the pro actors and actresses, even thought we ended-up getting amazing future careers from people like Ryan Gosling, Hayden Christensen, and Brandon Fletcher. All three of those guys are great, and the current trend of having snappy or snarky almost-adults ruins the feel of Goosebumps, to me. I just finished reading a Goosebumps book on my trip out of town, and i can’t even pretend to imagine this particular book getting adapted to this new show (not that it’s on the list, it just proves my point that no one in this current show would make something this simplistic or silly). This show will probably suck, and I will be extremely surprised if it gets a second season.
It ruins the entire feel for me too, unfortunately. Having "kid" actors/actresses that are maybe 11, 12, or 14 years old or something is what kids and adults of all ages gravitate towards in these types of things (look at Stranger Things and its popularity, IT movies and it's popularity, etc.) All deal with a group of innocent fun/funny kids dealing with scary monsters. A simple premise that worked for shows like Goosebumps/Are You Afraid Of The Dark and many other 90's shows and cartoons. Tbh, I'm not going to watch the show unless it was a straight up adaptation of the original or even Series 2000 Goosebumps books. Heck, they could still do a ton of the "Tales To Give You Goosebumps" too? Didn't they only adapt maybe 3 of those short stories in the 90's show? They have these options, I just personally don't get it. When reading the 90's Goosebumps books, I'm always thinking to myself "this would be so cool to see on the big screen with today's technology if done the right way". I was born in 91, a year before the 1st ever book came out and I remember seeing all of these books in the scholastic book fairs, my elementary school library and everything. Some of the best nostalgia ever. Can you imagine if "I Live In Your Basement!" got a 2023 episode? LOL swear it would get viewers! The trailer's kinda good but I feel like the tone's kinda not feeling Goosebumps like atleast most of the two Jack Black movies I can feel the tone of the books in some ways but some of the mystery seems cool, reminds me of The Five Masks of Dr. Screem but this feels more of a comedic Fear Street thing than Goosebumps, still, it seems kinda cool, I can give that a chance I guess. Yep, I agree that Travis Scott song and also him as a rapper in general and this being the trailer rubs me wrong and I hate that it's obviously shoehorned in. Can't wait, atleast it seems creepy!

I just had a better look of slappy in the new trailer, and it's not bad at all! I don't know what happened in the poster, but the look is really creepy in my opinion. Then i heard about the haunted mask being to simple..... how do you know that that thing will not change once it's put on? I feel like everyone wants different things, and of course you will be dissapointed. I of course will wait for the series before judging.
I’m glad you’re happy with Slappy, but every new look at him they show has me disliking it more and more. And even if the Haunted Mask changes like everyone keeps hoping, it’s still a horrible looking mask, and it should’ve been a full latex mask, like in the books. Most people would be satisfied if it was more of an anthology show, instead of the long form storytelling they have going on, and they’d be even more happy if Disney had the integrity to stay faithful to the books (and, therefore, the fans).

I’ve only seen the less than a minute trailer Michael but, I think they should adapt the books the original 90s series didn’t adapt. This pretty much feels like a TV show version of the movie. Also there’s the new Wonka movie coming out. Why did Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory need a prequel? Also why have high schoolers as the leads? What high schoolers are into Goosebumps? Well maybe Goosebumps fans that go to high school but still a majority aren’t. Also I feel the show should be a 90s period piece since Goosebumps was huge in the 90s. I feel like the fans seem to understand the property more than Disney. But I was surprised by how decent the Goosebumps movie was so maybe this’ll surprise me as well. I agree with pretty much everything you said-specifically the period piece point. That’s what Goosebumps SHOULD be. Even if it was in modern day setting, I just don’t think this tone fits right, yet.

I’m really disappointed with this trailer. I know it’s only a taster of what is to come and I’m not liking the general vibe I’m getting from this. So far, it’s completely missing the mark, Goosebumps is suppose to be charming, kinda goofy and scary. In the books and the 90’s tv show it really captures all of those things, you can also tell that RL Stine was always inspired by those early universal Pictures horror films and the sci fi/horror era of the 1950’s, and even the Twilight Zone with stories like Terror Tower and Cuckoo Clock of Doom, so far I’m not getting a sense of any of this, not to mention how ‘ socially relevant’ this looks too, which like many other shows of this nature become a victim by its own design, I don’t want to use the word Woke but I have a feeling this is where the show is heading, it will focus more on the Gen Z soap opera elements and not enough Focus on the actual horror narrative as a whole. ( the Travis Scott track they chose is also predictable and I feel like a bunch of white guys sat around a table and decided this is a ‘down with tha kidz’ choice of song tbh).

Well, the only thing I’d point to is that to make something that makes fans simply shrug, and to never market a project as meaningful to people as something like Goosebumps, is just a mind boggling decision, and I can’t figure out why they’d go this route. This has the stench of the attempt to draw-in new fans while pissing older fans off, out of spite, but I’m absolutely praying I’m wrong about it lol. I’d love for this show to complete prove me wrong.

@michaelgoosebumpsfan9934 yeah that's pretty accurate, I just know it came out in 2018, when I graduated and to give the editors of the trailer credit it's still kind of everywhere in Gen Z circles, especially with Travis recently dropping an album
I can definitely see how it's a bit of a miss, but from what I hear mindlessly swiping tiktok hear and there, there are definitely much worse modern songs, even ones that mention "getting goosebumps" they could've chosen
Ultimately I just hope the show can pull through for a season 2, or maybe an anthology spin off

Yup, I watched the 2 min trailer this morning, sent it to my homie.. clicked the link hours later to see it was claimed by Disney. :( it showed us all clips from the show hinting at all 5 books to be used. Wish that trailer were still up. :(

Imma kept it real, they trailer looks kinda bad. It has this Travis Scott song which did not fit at all, the show does not feel like Goosebumps at all, more like stranger things. The kids are also some stereotypical teenager types that are cringe
Also, from the lineup of shows that were listed. That mask at the end is def The Haunted Mask, and they completely butchered it. It looks like a completely basic wooden mask that would be used in prototypes

It should've been an anthology series, its basically going to be a poor mans sequel to the first two goosebumps movies.

Agreed with everything you said, man. The dark tone the trailer seems to set could be a good thing, but Disney has fooled me before with things like Age Of Ultron looking super gloomy, only to have Ultron making jokes the entire movie lol.

I wish they would just "modernize" the original 62 books. Do the same adaptations and make them scary (like the 90's shows atmosphere was going for) but with todays graphics. They never adapted like 20 of the original books into shows anyways and those 20 or so they never adapted, had some of the best original Goosebump books that I've always wanted to see adapted/on the screen (Ghost Camp, Night of The Living Dummy with Mr. Wood instead of Slappy, Monster Blood sequels, etc.) you get my point. We have a lot in common. Feel like that's all the real fans want and it's like "nope, here's a watered down disney-fied" version. Every time lol. It's disappointing. I don't think these folks who made the films or this series quite know/get the "feel" Stine's books and the 90's show were really hitting with our age group. They've turned it into a happy wink-and-nod thing; less spooky. Idk. The song they used in this trailer was very cringe and doesn't fit, and it just shows that this should and was supposed to stay an anthology-like series. They really could have done something like a Stranger Things "feel" where it's serious natured and dark with the original books that were more creepy. They could do something fun with today's Monster Blood graphics and the more adventurous books. The characters in here are older (as in older than 12, like most main characters in the books) and I just don't give a "you know what" about them. Kids are "innocent" and I can root for them easy. I can't "root" for much of todays actor/actresses. They're usually obnoxious and annoying in every aspect. The kids from the 90's show weren't expert actors by any means, but there was a charm to them. Wish they could figure it out lol
Agreed about practically every single thing you said, man-especially the end with the pro actors and actresses, even thought we ended-up getting amazing future careers from people like Ryan Gosling, Hayden Christensen, and Brandon Fletcher. All three of those guys are great, and the current trend of having snappy or snarky almost-adults ruins the feel of Goosebumps, to me. I just finished reading a Goosebumps book on my trip out of town, and i can’t even pretend to imagine this particular book getting adapted to this new show (not that it’s on the list, it just proves my point that no one in this current show would make something this simplistic or silly). This show will probably suck, and I will be extremely surprised if it gets a second season.
It ruins the entire feel for me too, unfortunately. Having "kid" actors/actresses that are maybe 11, 12, or 14 years old or something is what kids and adults of all ages gravitate towards in these types of things (look at Stranger Things and its popularity, IT movies and it's popularity, etc.) All deal with a group of innocent fun/funny kids dealing with scary monsters. A simple premise that worked for shows like Goosebumps/Are You Afraid Of The Dark and many other 90's shows and cartoons. Tbh, I'm not going to watch the show unless it was a straight up adaptation of the original or even Series 2000 Goosebumps books. Heck, they could still do a ton of the "Tales To Give You Goosebumps" too? Didn't they only adapt maybe 3 of those short stories in the 90's show? They have these options, I just personally don't get it. When reading the 90's Goosebumps books, I'm always thinking to myself "this would be so cool to see on the big screen with today's technology if done the right way". I was born in 91, a year before the 1st ever book came out and I remember seeing all of these books in the scholastic book fairs, my elementary school library and everything. Some of the best nostalgia ever. Can you imagine if "I Live In Your Basement!" got a 2023 episode? LOL swear it would get viewers! The trailer's kinda good but I feel like the tone's kinda not feeling Goosebumps like atleast most of the two Jack Black movies I can feel the tone of the books in some ways but some of the mystery seems cool, reminds me of The Five Masks of Dr. Screem but this feels more of a comedic Fear Street thing than Goosebumps, still, it seems kinda cool, I can give that a chance I guess.
Yep, I agree that Travis Scott song and also him as a rapper in general and this being the trailer rubs me wrong and I hate that it's obviously shoehorned in.

I just had a better look of slappy in the new trailer, and it's not bad at all! I don't know what happened in the poster, but the look is really creepy in my opinion.
Then i heard about the haunted mask being to simple..... how do you know that that thing will not change once it's put on?
I feel like everyone wants different things, and of course you will be dissapointed. I of course will wait for the series before judging.
I’m glad you’re happy with Slappy, but every new look at him they show has me disliking it more and more.
And even if the Haunted Mask changes like everyone keeps hoping, it’s still a horrible looking mask, and it should’ve been a full latex mask, like in the books.
Most people would be satisfied if it was more of an anthology show, instead of the long form storytelling they have going on, and they’d be even more happy if Disney had the integrity to stay faithful to the books (and, therefore, the fans).

I’ve only seen the less than a minute trailer Michael but, I think they should adapt the books the original 90s series didn’t adapt. This pretty much feels like a TV show version of the movie. Also there’s the new Wonka movie coming out. Why did Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory need a prequel? Also why have high schoolers as the leads? What high schoolers are into Goosebumps? Well maybe Goosebumps fans that go to high school but still a majority aren’t. Also I feel the show should be a 90s period piece since Goosebumps was huge in the 90s. I feel like the fans seem to understand the property more than Disney. But I was surprised by how decent the Goosebumps movie was so maybe this’ll surprise me as well. Do you agree with what I’m saying?
I agree with pretty much everything you said-specifically the period piece point. That’s what Goosebumps SHOULD be. Even if it was in modern day setting, I just don’t think this tone fits right, yet.

I’m really disappointed with this trailer. I know it’s only a taster of what is to come and I’m not liking the general vibe I’m getting from this. So far, it’s completely missing the mark, Goosebumps is suppose to be charming, kinda goofy and scary. In the books and the 90’s tv show it really captures all of those things, you can also tell that RL Stine was always inspired by those early universal Pictures horror films and the sci fi/horror era of the 1950’s, and even the Twilight Zone with stories like Terror Tower and Cuckoo Clock of Doom, so far I’m not getting a sense of any of this, not to mention how ‘ socially relevant’ this looks too, which like many other shows of this nature become a victim by its own design, I don’t want to use the word Woke but I have a feeling this is where the show is heading, it will focus more on the Gen Z soap opera elements and not enough Focus on the actual horror narrative as a whole. ( the Travis Scott track they chose is also predictable and I feel like a bunch of white guys sat around a table and decided this is a ‘down with tha kidz’ choice of song tbh).

Just remember that it’s going to have a couple slow, predictable episode every once in a while, like the old Goosebumps show. I’ve been so busy, lately, and then went on vacation, so it’s been hard to find time to watch more of it since I made that community post recommending it to everyone hahah.

Well, the only thing I’d point to is that to make something that makes fans simply shrug, and to never market a project as meaningful to people as something like Goosebumps, is just a mind boggling decision, and I can’t figure out why they’d go this route. This has the stench of the attempt to draw-in new fans while pissing older fans off, out of spite, but I’m absolutely praying I’m wrong about it lol. I’d love for this show to complete prove me wrong.
