Thank you for posting this. It is so nice to see Judy's new resting place. I would love to visit it someday. She was, and will always be, the greatest entertainer who ever lived.
I absolutely adored Judy Garland movies & her performances. I grew up watching MGM movies with my mom who has since passed (2006) but every time I watch Judy's movies, it brings back wonderful memories of pure joy. There will never be another entertainer like Judy & I hope she knows just how much her fans love her... Thanks Judy for giving us your all & keep singing as loud as you can in Heaven !!! Bless you ...
Judy was one of the best talents that ever lived. Too bad I was so young when she passed. I was like 10 yrs old. Thank God for all the film left to watch her talent. Gone, but never Forgotten. RIP JUDY
God bless this woman, how they tortured her, used her, and made hundreds of millions from her, but she died broke.. life isn't all Rose's, god bless you Judy Garland.
There will never another man or woman who could hold a candle to talent. She was a triple threat. We were blessed to experience her gift. It was a lost to the world that she left the world too soon. She lived a very sad life not knowing how much she was loved. She was used and abused and neglected. She left this world with nothing. How could this happen to the greatest entertainer that ever lived?
Please don’t make her life sound so tragic. She was a beautifully blessed woman. Lived the lives of thirty people in 47 years! Sure there were bad times and she made bad choices and decisions, but she also had MANY MANY amazing years!!!! she is resting peacefully now!❤️
My BFF & I have visited most of the cemetery in the LA area where the stars have been put to rest. It’s like a scavenger hunt finding some of the grave sites. We are extremely respectful at all of the sites. We pay our respects and have places flowers on many of them. As long as you respect the grounds then the security staff will be kind to you. It the door is locked then walk away. If the rope is up blocking the entrance to the area then don’t climb over it. Respect the beauty of all the craftsmanship that is there.
I found her star on the Walk of Fame last year at the TCM Film Festival, wasn't even looking for it just stumbled upon it. I kneeled down and and tried to send my energy out to the universe, carrying my message of love to her. She meant so much to so many people and deserved such better treatment in life. I pray she has found some peace in death. The inscription "I'll come to you, smiling through the years" made a tear roll down my cheek. She will indeed, continuing not only to entertain but to INSPIRE! Thank you for this upload, I'll make sure to visit this beautiful resting site next time I'm in California.
Steve, thank you so very much for taking the time you did in making this video. I had been going to Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale at least once a year to bring flowers to Judy's crypt; and while I was disheartened to hear that I wouldn't be able to visit her as much, I was so thrilled when I found out where she was going. It is such a much, much, much better place for her. Where she was in Ferncliff, her crypt had no place of precedence, and she was buried surrounded by strangers. Bittersweet, to be sure, but completely appropriate that she is where she is now. Again, thank you so very much for your video. Take care. Steve Solar, Watertown, NY.
Wow...I'm so glad to see this. .Judy holds a special place in my heart she keeps my connected to my deceased father he loved wizzard of Oz...I'll be forever greatful of this.. 21 years old and grew up watching her...
F 11-17-17 Thanks so much for posting this. I have lived in the Los Angeles area my entire life and for many years since Judy's passing I have meant to go to New York and visit Judy's resting place and never quite made it. Who knew Judy would come back to me!!! Not only was she (and in my opinion still is) the world's greatest entertainer of all time but she is a girl who is full of surprises and still gets around, even 48 years after her passing! I was only 10 when she passed away and all I knew about her was she was our beloved Dorothy. As I grew older I discovered her talents extended way beyond the yellow brick road and have been a hardcore fan ever since. I remember when Judy passed Liza saying the reason they were burying her in New York was because of the hard time Judy had at MGM that she hated California but loved New York and if anyone cared enough to visit Judy they would come to New York. I see that Liza has had a change of heart about this after all these years, or maybe the family has decided Judy had enough time in New York. At any rate I was thrilled when I heard about Judy coming back to LA in the news earlier this year and plan to go see her as soon as I can, but thanks for this great preview in the meantime! Also I love how you included her Hollywood star and Chinese Theatre footprints. I remember the first time I saw Judy's hand and footprints at Grauman's (I still think of it that way) which she did when The Wizard of Oz was first released (10-10-39) it gave me chills through my entire body to think I was standing in the exact same spot Judy had stood. And I remember I marvelled at how tiny her footprints are!!! Still, no one can fill her high heels! Yay, Judy!!!
Yes, I am a big fan of Judy Garland. Thank you for sharing! Beautiful grave. I don't know if her body is in there or somewhere. Because the crazy people would want to steal her dead body out of the grave. I wouldn't do that and keep my mind clear to respect her. One day I meet her. R.I.P. Judy Garland.
Thanks Steve. I was at Judy's grave last week for my birthday, 9/29. I recall when it was being prepared for Judy. It is now my tradition to take flowers to Judy when I'm in Hollywood.
Famous Final Resting Places Seriously! We wondered all over that place-we didn’t have a map. The grass is so old that the roots are thick... it’s not easy to walk on it. My boyfriend kept saying she was in the Abbey of the Palms (I heard “Avenue of the Palms” -hey, sometimes he mumbles. Lol!) Then I looked at what he was reading and said, “No! It’s Abbey of the PSALMS!” We had a good laugh over that! Lol! Anyway, he was ready to give up, but he stopped to watch your video. I had walked around the corner but returned to the mausoleum once I saw he wasn’t following me. That’s when he figured out how close we were to it. Ironically, I had been a few feet away from Judy’s plaque when I had turned back. We didn’t realize that she was in a separate building. So again, THANK YOU!
LOL, I know the grass in some of these cemeteries is like quicksand. It's so difficult to walk in. It took me two or three trips to the cemetery to find her crypt! It wasn't market for about six months or more, so I wasn't sure I was in the right place. Hope you enjoyed the cemetery. It's one of my favorites and I visit often. Thanks for the comment and glad my video helped!
Famous Final Resting Places Yes! And some places aren’t as well-manicured as the Fairbanks Lawn. I don’t know how you ever found it in the first place when it wasn’t marked. I posted a little video of our visit there. I especially loved the Cathedral Mausoleum (so peaceful) and the big lake with the swans, geese, ducks & their babies, the cat colony, squirrels... Do you know why the peacocks don’t roam free?
Every time I've been there the peacocks have been roaming around freely. I was pretty shocked the first time I saw them. Maybe on certain days they keep them in the cage. Not sure. If your video is public I'll check it out.
yes i have been there!......and yes i adored her very much, she was one of the greatest entertainers of all time!....and it was a thrill to know she's back in Hollywood again!......
Thank you so much for this info! Big Judy fan! Can't wait to visit and pay my respects to one of my favorites. I was at the Glendale Forest Lawn...a lot of famous people buried there. Unfortunately the Mausoleum was closed so we missed that...wanted to see Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and many more.
THANK YOU! I’ve been there before, and I’m so glad she (her remains) is in Hollywood where she belongs….to be visited by her many fans ! May she rest in peace……looking forward forward to that “Day” when all things will restored, and made new…..and she is reunited with her children, and all be able to say: “It’s true, there’s no place like home.!
Her spot in Ferncliff Cemetery still had her name on it as of May 2019. She was around the corner from my step-father. I’ll keep an eye on the spot to see if they leave her name.
The nice quality of this video is not only your presentation of her new resting place, but also where she attended high school, her star on Hollywood Blvd., and her hand prints, foot prints, and signature in cement at the Chinese Theater. Also, the quote on her crypt says, "I'll come to you smiling through the years." Yes, this is a line from one of her songs. I would have preferred if the quote would have been "Somewhere, over the rainbow." Just a thought. To each their own. Thank you for another lovely and informative video.
Like you, I was surprised that the epitaph wasn't "Somewhere, over the rainbow." It would have been perfect for fans, but the other song must have been a personal favorite. I'm just happy she's back in Hollywood :-)
My mom had made me a large fan of Judy .Mom always carried a note like Judy Garland a d sang all her songs to her Mom a d Brother. Miss You Judy now my mom can really meet you RIP
Thanks for this post, very glad to see this change. Yes this is better than the NYC location for the reasons mentioned, though it was a very lovely place in NY as well. I know a few who chose that location for themselves because Judy was there.
Thank You for your video, I’m Cuban, I’ve lived in Miami for 19 years but when I came from Cuba I went to LA and lived there for 1 year I went to Hollywood, my mom (RIP) loved Judy Garland and I love her for ever!!!!!! Thanks 🙏
Good Job Steve. I just viewed the movie ‘Judy’ this evening at a vintage theatre that absolutely suited the movie. What a wonderful singer, dancer and actress. So glad to see her interred safely in Hollywood. Thank you for doing the video. God Bless her and her family.
Always been a devoted fan to Judy and loved her amazing voice...she died when I was 18 so even then I loved her. .Strangely enough and by coincidence, after divorce I married again and became Mrs Garland!!! Not related but I was so proud to take the name because she had such a big part in my life... So now seeing her new resting place is such an honour and am glad her family found a beautiful place for her too....Sadly due to health reasons I will never get to see her resting place for real now but thank you so much for sharing this memorable video of a beautiful Lady, Actress and who had such an Amazing. Voice ....God Bless Judy....💕💕❤❤🥰🥰🥰
Good Afternoon Steve it's 12.00 PM lunch time here. I never really knew much about Just Garland because I was born in 1982 and I am only 35 years old but you always make nice videos so thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Back in the 1960s the TV stations played the Wizard of Oz every year around Christmas, so I grew up watching it annually. It's still my favorite movie. Back then, we didn't have videos or DVDs or any way to see movies once they left the theater, unless they came on TV. Seems so hard to believe, now that you can watch anything, any time from anywhere. Progress can be good! When my mom was growing up they didn't even have TV yet :-)
Thankyou for sharing this with us. I love Judy Garland I have a few collectors of her and the cast from The Wizard Of Oz. Wish I could do this type of treasures and adventures some day.💜💙💚
I'm a big fan of just Judy an I never thought I'd see her grave site in New York....so I was super excited to know that she was going to be moved here in Hollywood where she belongs I visited her grave site yesterday and I was so overwhelmed that I just started crying Judy will always be one of the greatest entertainers that ever walked this Earth
Great video. I love Judy. I love all of her movies. My favorite is A Child is Waiting. She did AMAZING! If you haven't seen it. I think you will really enjoy it.
Thank you for this respectful video. Judy will be missed. Thanks for your great job you did. I wish I could get to Hollywood but im doing the family thing and just cant swing it especially being on the East Coast .......peace
I'm visiting LA again in the summer and cannot wait to pay my respects. HUGE Judy fan, even have her tattoo'd on my leg. The family could not move Judy until Judy's last husband died...the horrible Mickey Deans who used her for 10 seconds of fame. He chose NY it was not in any of Judy's wills etc. Once he passed away a year or so ago, Lorna Liza & Joey were able to move her to be 'closer to her family' - including her grandchildren and great grandkids. Family meant more to Judy than anything. It's the people who complain about this that aren't leaving her alone in death. Great video, very nice! I always wondered exactly where the crypt was.
Thanks for sharing that background info. I didn't know any of that. I'm sure you will enjoy her new final resting place. It's very nice and I especially like that Judy and Mickey Rooney are together again, in the same cemetery. Enjoy your trip, NL!
Thanks for posting this mini tour. I just found out she had been moved this year. Would like to visit one day. Looks like a beautiful peaceful resting place for Ms Garland and her family. RIP Judy. ❤🕊
I visited this cemetery in the 1980's and 1990's.I moved back to the east coast in 1994.I was glad to learn they have cleaned up this cemetery as it had gone downhill.
Was able to find it today because of this video. Today marks the 50th anniversary of her death… So of course I had to come and visit. Thank thank you thank you.
I love Judy Garland. I'd love to visit her tomb one day and see all the other landmarks she has made a mark on. I watch documentaries on her regularly and can proudly say I know a lot about her life now!
This was very special to me , to be able to see the final resting place of Judy Garland. I did not know she had been moved, but i think this is better than london . As she is now back home where she belongs and grew up. Long may she rest in peace in her own mausoleum. Thank you for sharing this. Denise Walker dedicated Judy Fan.
Gee I noticed she was born in 1922, and died on June 22. (22 again) June 22, is also the day my Daughter was born, on a later year. I also remember riding past the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, on the way to our Summer cabin when I was young. Frances Ethel Gumm; her birth name, and born In Minnesota. I have some of Judy’s songs on cd. ‘Somewhere, Over the Rainbow,’ is always heartwarming and I had a song of her and Bing Crosby singing duet and play arguing, (Ya ta ta talk, talk, talk) that was quite funny to listen to. If interested, utube it. Great song! Thank You Steve, for the tour and history. I wonder if Liza left the picture and roses 🌹?
In a cemetery full of huge stars , of immense talent laying at rest . there is the true Icon , the legend of all legends ... Judy Garland. She may not have been able to 'give us anything but love' , but , that is all we ever really needed . Stars come and go. But Legends last forever. Thank you for all that you left us . Judy. I wasnt even born when she was alive on this planet , but her voice , her film work and most importantly her fierce protection of her gay fans mean the world to me. X
JUDY GARLAND SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON AND I LOVE HER MOVIES I AM ALSO GALD TO SEE HER GORGEOUS RESTING PLACE IT IS AWESOME THANKS AGAIN STEVE AWESOME JOBS💛💚💙💜❤
Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY (16 miles from NYC) where Judy was entombed, is a beautiful cemetery that hosts a number of other stars including Joan Crawford, Ed Sullivan, Harold Arlen (who composed Over the Rainbow), Yul Brynner, Betty Furness, Moss Hart, Jim Henson, John Lennon, Moms Mabley, Preston Sturges, Cornell Woolrich (wrote Rear Window) and Oscar Hammerstein II, is certainly worth a visit when in NYC.
My mom was born in 1958 so she told me back in the day they had black and white sets lol I would have hated that lol but I think your memorial vids are awesome so again thanks for sharing!
She's So Beautiful. I am Deeply Saddened of knowing How She was Treated and Taken Advantage Of. Judy I Adore You and Still Love You Today and The Rest Of My Life.. You will always Be Remembered and Loved By The WORLD... Thank You For all You Have Given To Us... Beautiful Music so Talented and Your Spirit Really Is Filled With So Much Love. So Precious. I KNOW YOU ARE OVER THE RAINBOW WAY UP HIGH .... :)
I'm so happy that Judy is final resting place is near her Calif. fans. Whatever happened to her rose? The Judy Garland rose? Thanks so much for posting. I visited Graumans Chines Theater when I was very much younger and saw her footprints. Terrific! Again, thanks so much for posting!
She passed before I was born yet one of my favourite movies is The Wizard of Oz.. I remember watching that as a little girl…it use to play once a year on tv.
Judy was one of the greats during a time when you had to have talent. It didn't matter who you knew, you better dance, sing and act or your ass is out. It was a hard life but for those who knew how to handle it, it could be a rewarding life. I'm so glad to see her home. Now she can finally say, "There's no place like home".
50 years ago today, the world lost one of the greatest actresses & singers of all time. She had a voice that moved mountains. 😢
so true. thanks for the reminder, sam!
Thank you for posting this. It is so nice to see Judy's new resting place. I would love to visit it someday. She was, and will always be, the greatest entertainer who ever lived.
I agree. Thanks for your comment.
You couldn't have said it better!
What an Icon gone, but never forgotten RIP Judy you were ahead of your time.
She had such a lovely voice. I live about an hour away and plan to see her grave soon. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Steve. Judy was quite the actress and I’m glad that you were able to highlight these places that Judy is still remembered.
so true. thanks, tim!

Thank You for posting this! Judy was the greatest singer and entertainer!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing! I visited her previous resting place about 25 years ago and sobbed like a baby. This so much better. Its beautiful.
Wow, 25 years ago. Her new home is very beautiful. Thanks for the comment!

It's nice to see Judy Garland's new resting place without being there.
Thanks..Judy has been such an inspiration in my life! Richard
God Bless the GREATEST Entertainer ever !!!!!!!!!
She was amazing, but spite her fame she much to often seemed unhappy, sad eyes, but a deep compassion for everything she did, lovely person......

Thank you so much for your video! If it wasn't for you, we'd still be wandering around the cemetery looking for Judy's final resting place.
I'm glad it was helpful. I know the feeling. Sometimes it takes me hours or even days to find some of them! Thanks for the message and for watching.

Yes, very interesting and perhaps a permanent Tribute to Judy. If that is the case, Wonderful; as that resting place, was hers.

I agree. Thanks for sharing!
Great video. I love Judy. I love all of her movies. My favorite is A Child is Waiting. She did AMAZING! If you haven't seen it. I think you will really enjoy it.

Great star.
Thank you for this respectful video. Judy will be missed. Thanks for your great job you did. I wish I could get to Hollywood but im doing the family thing and just cant swing it especially being on the East Coast .......peace
Thanks for sharing. Appreciate it!
So happy to see the Family in Your last video...Happy 2021 Everyone!!!

How did they move is she in a caster or earn how do they move her thank you
Gee I noticed she was born in 1922, and died on June 22. (22 again)
June 22, is also the day my Daughter was born, on a later year. I wonder if Liza left the picture and roses 🌹?
wow, i never noticed that about the dates. thanks for sharing these memories with us, buck!
We love you Judy ....england... you always be a star ...R I P
Nicely said!

The greatest star Hollywood ever produced. She could do it all. Dance, Sing, Act, and most importantly draw people to her.

R i p Judy Garland 😇 you is Beautiful 👼
Yeah, in the beginning all TV was only black and white for many years :-)
Happy Birthday Judy!!!!!!
Yes, Happy Birthday! She would have been 96. The last munchkin died a couple of weeks ago at 98. I'm going to visit his grave site soon.

Best Movie Star Ever I Love Her Thank You ❣️💓
wunderschöne Gegend für eine wunderbare Künstlerin, möge sie in Frieden ruhen..
Thanks for those of us that will never be able to make the trip.
My favorite film of Judy Garland is A Star Is Born.Tony
She passed before I was born yet one of my favourite movies is The Wizard of Oz.. I remember watching that as a little girl…it use to play once a year on tv.
Hello, please, is it possible to get close to Judy's tomb ( grave) and put a flower? Thanks
Judy was one of the greats during a time when you had to have talent. It didn't matter who you knew, you better dance, sing and act or your ass is out. It was a hard life but for those who knew how to handle it, it could be a rewarding life. I'm so glad to see her home. Now she can finally say, "There's no place like home".
so true about the talent back then. thanks, SE!
She was like a " Queen" of Hollywood. Smart move to move her to Hollywood
Thanks for the video. She left us before we could let her know how much she meant to us. No one has ever match her magnetism on screen or off.
I still love you my cousin
She passed away on my Mother's 40th Birthday.
That's sad. Thanks for sharing Michael!
I didn’t know they moved her body from New York to California
Talented lady who checked out too soon!
