Nice video, thank you. I don’t think the glue will hold at all if the polyurethane foam is crumbling. You need to resole them. Saves you from washing the soles of your shoes.

If a PU-midsole Shows Hydrolysis Like Here to re-glue the Outsole is waste of time and Material. You need to let them resoled. The whole unit. Midsole/+Outsole-Unit.
with the exception of the glueing of the soles....now we know what we need to do to keep our boots tip top. Many thanks

Эти боты с гортексом и кожу сверху требуется пропитывать специальными незакупоривающими поры пропитками. Не буду утверждать, хотя могли превратить дышащие ботинки в резиновые сапоги.

Really fancy a pair of Meindl Vakuum gtx but not sure if they're wide enough around to toes. My foot measures 10.5cm at the widest point across my forefoot behind my toes. I've read they're wider than most other brands. I read the comfort fit has a decent amount of room but not available in this model of boot I like the look of. Even looking at pictures on Google the sole doesn't look wide so I'm not sure.
My feet are about 11cm wide and just under 30cm long. and I wear Meindl and Lowa wide fit. Italian boots just don't work for me. I haven't tried this particular pair of Meindls but Bhutans and Islands are fine. I wear comfort fit Meindl when I want a bit of toe room but most Meindl fit me without the pressure around the pinkies I get from other brands.
@sdemosi just got a pair of Hanwag Ancash ii gtx in their straight fit extra fitting. They fit me great. Plenty of room for the big toe, they feel just right in the width and depth. Not quite as roomy as my Altberg Kisdon they're replacing but there's not much in it yet they have more space for the big toe.
The tread wore down in a year on my current boots and the same will probably happen to my new boots but we'll see.
@@MrIliff Hanwag Straight Fit is great. Unfortunately all of their alpine boots are too narrow for me in the toebox so I went with other brands. They make nice shoes though.

Can you wax nubuck... I have some Meindl Island boots... Not sure as to wax them.. Any help much appreciated....
This video is nice to watch but unfortunately its not correct for Meindl nubuk. I have exactly the same boots as in video. For nubuk please use "Wet Proof" from Meindl. Its like milk, it needs to soak in so make impregnation day before usage. And of course, no brush polishing. For leather parts (tongue) use Meindl "Sport wax"
Its almost 7 years i am doing like this and boots looks like new, fully functional.

Smearing greasy shoe cream on the boot seems to stop the Goretex membrane from breathing.
And what about the same shoes in nubuck leather? The Meindl M1 and M2 army boots.

I think you are thinking to hard about a simple thing,to be honest.
It’s only cleaning a pair of boots…
You ruined the breathability of the leather by adding polish. That seals the leather. You're meant to use leather conditioner not polish.
