Amazing craftsmanship ,attention to detail and care . Why has this become the exception rather than the rule in making shoes and everything else these days .
*Yea I was wondering that too because the shank always goes below the cork, then the cork is spread over top, with the midsole next, and finally the outer sole. I've never seen the shank put on the midsole before 🤔*
Great craftsmanship especially with almost no tools. 👏🏻👌🏻 As mentioned in the comments, I'm also a little bit surprised about the shank in between the mid sole and the outsole but I'm no specialist I just watch cobblers RUclips videos.
I use is similar type, not quite as good as mine is basically a bench grinder with a belt sander run off the right wheel. Interesting to see how a leather midsole only stitch means it's possible to get away with not having an outsole stitcher.
The original sole is a hard plastic feeling material, almost like football cleats. Standing on a hard wet surface is like standing on ice. Trickers needs to find a better factory sole.
I was thinking the same... another thought.... because the outsole is now not part of the goodyear welted system and not stitched on, I suppose it can be changed much more easily and doesn't put further stress on the welt.
*Even semi new, barely used shoes are allowed to be resoled. It's a thing! There's nothing wrong with it at all. So many people forget to realize that this is up to the customer to decide what they want. Lots of people are complaining about what this cobbler did, and suggest that he only work on very worn out shoes. Let the man work on whatever he wants lmao 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣! Like I said before, even hardly used shoes get resoled, and it's what the customer wanted!!* *Many people get their new/semi new/barely used shoes resoled too! Not everyone's foot is the same! So we don't know if the customer had a comfort issue with the other soles. That's the reason why some customers get their shoes resoled of course. I'm not saying it's the reason for this customer's shoes here. I'm just saying people do that though. Another reason could be, is simply that they didn't like the look of the soles. Whether you like it or not, customers will change the look of their soles 😅 There are many other reasons for changing the shoes too. We just don't know the reason for the ones in the video.* *It was the customer's decision not ours. So don't tell this cobbler RUclipsr what to do, because it was the customer's decision to change the shoes. It is what it is. Aside from all this, I think he did an amazing job! It's awesome! I'm sure the customer loves the outcome of their shoes! Well done!*
*Actually that's cork. It's often put in the cavity of boots for more support of the feet. I learned about this from lots of other cobbler channels like Trenton and Heath. There's that kind of cork where you can cut it out. Then there's the other kind of cork where it comes in a metal container, and you spread it around like peanut butter. After that I always see the shank glued below the cork. Next the cork is added over top of it. Then that leather midsole is glued on top of the shank and cork. As far as the kind of leather midsole that's used at **7:15** , I'm not sure. But most cobblers use a full grain leather as the midsole 😊! I don't know why he glued the shank on the leather midsole though 😅! That's the first time I'm ever seen that.*
*Nope it's definitely fiberboard. I watched plenty of other cobbler channels like Trenton and Heath to know this. It breaks apart like that, and the texture is absolutely fiberboard.*
Good work but you not the cobbler you forgot to put Shank before put cork but anyway good work good luck You're idea is really good show people how they can fix the shoes

Better than new ones Nice and comfortable
Meticulous repair and restoration Great job 👏 👍
It’s a pleasure to watch a real craftsman thankyou 👏
Thank you for sharing this with us. It's almost a piece of art!
i was wondering why you put the wooden shank between the midsole and outsole? did you forget to put it in earlier or is there another reason?
*Yea I was wondering that too because the shank always goes below the cork, then the cork is spread over top, with the midsole next, and finally the outer sole. I've never seen the shank put on the midsole before 🤔*
Such a beautiful job dude. So much care went into those boots.
Beautiful! And watching your work was almost therapeutic (or ASMR maybe).
Absolutely brilliant work like watching an oil painting being created but more importantly practical cause it’s wearable and repairable many times

I wish I could get those boots.. Could not take off my eyes watching the whole restoration process.. 👍👍
Fantastic job. And with minimal powered tools.
Beautiful work, excellent craftsmanship, enjoyable video and inspirational too! Great post, thank you sir!
bewandering your patience and accuracy, Sir !
great job !
Lovely job and video. What is the reason behind not replacing the shank? I see some boots have them and others don't. Here it was taken out.
Similarly curious about shank between the mid and outer soles.
But more importantly, nice to see how effective that particular type of sander is.
I use is similar type, not quite as good as mine is basically a bench grinder with a belt sander run off the right wheel. Interesting to see how a leather midsole only stitch means it's possible to get away with not having an outsole stitcher.
Why would you take of a new itshide commando sole off and replace it with a vibram commando?
It was my decision. Vibram more light than dainite commando. And the heel was broken. Leather fleek was very bad quality.
@@drleta only thing is that Vibram will have to be replaced much sooner.
Night and day difference and the work done in your own way..I say well done dear fellow
That was beautiful to watch. I want to re-train as a cobbler.
Beautiful boot…fantastic restoration! 👍🏽
The boot needed a decent polish, what it didn’t need was a new sole. The soles he removed had more tread left than the ones he put on.
Spot on!
Gppd work.
Why was the sole replaced though? It looks hardly worn.

@@TheCrimsontwisterI have tricker shoes with this sole, I don’t agree with you, I live in Norway and use them as my winter shoes.
Nice to see and hear. Thanks

Wonderful work!
Excellent
At 4:53 is that an inner sole you are inserting made of leather board or full grain leather ?

It must cost a fortune to have shoes resoled, considering the amount of time it takes. Awesome video.
In most cases, especially when it comes to [already] expensive shoes, it's actually cheaper.
It currently costs £175 GBP to resole a pair of Trickers boots
@sursorn5575 If to resole is that much, how much is the actual shoe.
@@timotheusn.h.nakashona1001
I believe it currently retails at £585 GBP

Expensive boots
Expensive maintenance
You can't beat a pair of hand made English shoes.
And a good cobbler to look after them !
Very true 💯
What did you do with the laces in the end? What sort of liquid is that?
golden hands, guys)
I have the same boots 👍
Where is this place?
Fire work!

AWSOME job.
Thanks!
If ever I see that dreadful word misused again, I shall eat my hat..moreover, you have also misspelled it.
Nice job !!!!
thank you!

Hello, was the heel made of fiberboard?
Looks like wood to me...
*Nope it's definitely fiberboard. I watched plenty of other cobbler channels like Trenton and Heath to know this. It breaks apart like that, and the texture is absolutely fiberboard.*
those boots looked relatively new & unused -- why work on such a boot instead of one that is worn out?
Perfektion !
You didn’t need to replace the sole, what you took off had more tread than the vibram sole you used to replace it.
