I am sure after 2 year of this video being posted this was fixed but for those who are searching for this type of rear shoe ebrake set up for these generation Edges and MKx here you go... These are a pretty common rear ebrake shoe set up. The upside down horse shoe with the pads fits inside on the "hat" on the rear brake rotor similar to how drum brakes work. When the ebrake is engaged, the horse shoe spreads out ever so slightly causing the pads on the ebrake shoes to contact the inner drum of the rotor and this is how the ebrake holds the car. There is a sprocket hardware at he 12 o'clock position where the horse shoe is and with a flathead screw driver you can tap the toothed the wheel on the left to increase or push out the resistance in the horse shoe and the horse shoe can then wiggle out. There are quite a few vids here that go into detail on how to adjust rear parking brake shoes that will cover this type of application. Specifically for these generations of Edge and MKx, noise can occur when the alignment spring rusts away or becomes disconnected. When you look at the horse shoe at the 5 o'clock position in this video, you will see a hole where as small spring hooks onto a clip that is bolted to the hub. This spring is tricky to get at as you need some needle noose pliers but in most instances this will fix the rub that can be heard after the ebrake is disengaged with out having to replace the whole shoe itself. Of course proper diagnosis is needed to ensure that the ebrake shoe lining is good and not working ect. I recently was quoted 400 to replace both rear parking brake shoes and hardware because of a rubbing noise I was hearing. Because I had good pads still left on my ebrake shoes, I ordered a hardware kit for 12 bucks on amazon and replaced the rusted away spring myself in about 30 minutes. Noise is all gone. This video gives some shots of the parking brake mechanisms so it should be an easy job for those who are so inclined to replace this themselves. Good Luck

You can adjust the parking brake instead of replacing them if they’re not working properly. The rubber grommet is there so when you need to adjust the parking brake you can do it without taking the whole brake set apart. It’s also handy if the parking brake is out of adjustment and you’re trying to get the rotor off and can’t you can adjust the shoes “in” so you can pull the rotor off.

Looks like the audio track is wrong and this is the wrong video. He's replacing the rear rotor and pads and adjusting the calipers for the new pads. Nowhere in this is he doing anything with the parking brake.

I figured out the hard way the parking break came out with the rotor I couldn’t figure out how to get it back on until I released the parking break I was able to get it back on
