Yo, you should get the 3D-printed shock mount by Alister Chapman to replace your broken shotgun mic holder. I replaced mine with it. It's called the FX6 Rugged Mic Holder on shapeways.
Didn't laugh at all, but I was instead hyped: "man, that's true, I have to gear detox and reconnect with my creativity". I take this videos way too seriously it appears.
I’ve noticed when using the rode lav with my dji mic setup there is some weird interference sometimes. Got the shure mvl lav and haven’t had any issues since
Thank you for posting this. I have noticed on my new FX30 that there is a lot of bass rolloff no matter what microphone I use. I can't find a high pass filter or low cut filter in the camera, though. Have you experienced this?
With my AirPods in I can clearly hear the white noise on the DJI mic test, so glad because I have this exact same problem too! They work flawlessly with my Sony a7 iv so I’m presuming it’s just the xlr adapter I use :(
out of curiosity, do you use a pro mist filter or something along the lines of that, for your shots? Thanks in advance, and thanks for your videos, they have certainly been very helpful in learning about Sony FX30 and its different settings. So much so, I have upgraded to FX3 now. Keep the videos coming!
I’ve heard mixed reviews on the top handle in terms of its quality. Considering I plan on picking an MKH416 to go with my FX30, I was contemplating using a Zoom F3 to capture that audio. However, I’m not sure how I would go about mounting the F3 to my rig in a handheld situation on the go. Any recommendations? 🤔
@@KofiYeboah The 32 bit float is very tempting on the F3 👀 That’s also a fair point. Also I didn’t realize there’s a thread on the F3 so I could likely find a spot on a cage to mount it.
if you have the top handle extension you can mount the Zoom F3 at the end of the handle. I'm using a Smallrig 2948 ball joint for this. But if you're not using the audio ports of the handle at all you may want to consider switching the handle altogether. The FX3 handle is really noisy, so is the "shock mount". The F3 in combo with the MKH 416 will give you killer sound. I'm "only" using the Audio Technica AT875R and am super happy with that setup.
jajajaja "imaginatiooonn" dude I really really like your videos I see you being part of the greats in this type of content, I am waiting to see your vertical rig of the FX6, I really want to invest in one for me and it would help me a lot to see yours, greetings from Colombia :)
Thanks Kofi, nice video with sound advice. FX3 here with Rode NTG3 and Octava shot gun mics and DJI lavs. But recently only using the Sony ECM-B1M and really happy with it. Greets from Berlin (Germany)!
Kofi, thanks again for your channel. So I have a question about the DJI Mic Receiver 3.5 to XLR cable going into the top handle on the FX-6. Were you able to get both transmitters over that 1 XLR into Ch1/Ch2? If so, that's a game changer because I could get onboard shotgun plus 2 lavs. Or, would one need a splitter 3.5 to 2 XLR's to make that happen? Thanks as always!!!
Hi thanks i just bought a fx30. And i play and sing. Trying to figure out sound now. From what ive research ed so far I was thinking zoom h6 on top of camara with its new longer shotgun mic. Into the FX30. The shot gun might be seen by the camara so get an extention bar on the FX30 an inch or two to hold the zoom (on a tripod) plug the zoom into the camara wth some type of cable .. Any thoughts much much appreciated. Peace. Tony
So I plug in my RODE mic to the red MIC port on my FX30 - and get no audio. I plug my other MIC, that uses 2 AA batteries,, still get no audio. LOL.... Seems so simple, yet, such a struggle ! ...What am I doing wrong ? Thx !
Hey Kofi, thanks for this video, it's amazing! How do you deal with all the 8 tracks in your editor? Is there a way to only use for example 2 so in davinci resolve I only see two tracks? Now it's very hard to build a timeline. And another question I have is that every time I only use the mic of the top handle, I only hear my audio in my left earbud. Is there a way that this signal is made stereo in camera? Thanks in advance & love your channel!
@@KofiYeboah thanks for the reply, appreciate it! Do you have tips for the audio tracks? Do you put your song on track 9, and first import all your trimmed clips? Or do you delete them one by one after your put your clips in the timelines
quick question! Ive been using the sennheiser mke 600 on the fx3 top handle and have noticed lots of handling noise... when using these mics are you trying to be still as possible? I don't notice this handling noise when using the 3.5 inch jack Rode mic plugged directly into the camera, but the audio doesn't compare to the MKE 600 .. Im thinking of just getting a shorter XLR shotgun mic so there is less movement...
Great video but you could increase the volume of this video. I put my laptop volume at 100% plus the youtube sound max and still your sound is so low haha. Maybe im wrong idk
Does the DJI MIC adapted into the FX6 via Jack to XLR split its audio channels aswell? as in can you have 2 DJI MIC kits for 4 audio channels with only 2 XLR inputs?
Hi mate, i own a FX6 too, and i dunno why if i use a XLR mic the maximum audio volume that i can acquire is 50% of the level… there’s something i miss?? Thanks
What length of cable can you use either XLR or 3.5mm before you start messing up your audio? I heard 25ft cable is typically the longest you want to go?
You need to apply a compressor to your audio since there’s still a buzz / noise when you talk. It’s a bit distracting for some of the cuts. (I’m also listening on audio technica monitors so that might be a factor)
I hate the DJI lav the I got two and both of them just stopped working; took them back to DJI and they told me it would take two months to fix maybe and I would have to pay for shipping and repair; I didn't even own them both for longer then 6 months.
@@KofiYeboah I've binged watched most of your videos in the past two days about the FX30. Also you videos with AOD. I think it is easier if I just start calling it MK416 also! 🙂

I looked into it ! I might have damaged too much of the handle to be able to mount it :(
IDK if anyone else laughed but I was CRYING at the Spongebob plug
I might of pissed off a sound person haah

Well done. Thank you for posting, Kofi!
Thanks for watching !!
Just the video I needed! Thank you for the info. The shotgun mic definitely sounds the best out of the options.

When you have a external mic connected should you put camera recording at 0?
I’d avoid that 😬 I’ve learned on -12 to -6 is a good spot , but I’m not an audio mixer so take that with a grain of salt
Thanks Kofi, quick one here. I just bought the Sony FX 6. I find that the shotgun mic doesn't the mic holder. What was your solution for that?
Rubber spacers ! Check any of the rig videos 👍🏾
Hey Great video. What's your process to get the Seinheiser G4 working on the FX6? For some reason, I can get any audio in the camera? Thanks

It’ll go into a mono channel unfortunately, so unless both parties neve speak at the same time , you’re okay, but I wouldn’t play with that 😂
