    Hey Kenzo, I really like your choices for the 3 best gardens Kyoto! My favorite is Enko-ji! It really has everything I love in a Japanese garden; gravel garden, moss garden, bamboo forest, maples, a beautiful view of Kyoto, and a suikinkutsu! I would like to visit Saihoji next time I am in Kyoto, it seems so peaceful!

      Thank you Gord! I'm so happy that you've already checked the video I made just now.
      And great to know that you also like Enko-ji. Even the suikinkutsu! You must know a lot about Japan. Thank you so much!

      @@tour-guide-KENZO yes, I used to live in Japan for 3 years, 20 years ago. I have visited a few times since then; my wife is Japanese, so we visit her family in Sendai sometimes. Last time we were in Japan was in 2018; we spent 5 days in Kyoto so I could visit many gardens and suikinkutsu! It was a great time!

      That's why! Thanks for sharing the episode.
      I've never been to Sendai but it must be a nice place.
      It's now a hard time to travel around all over the world, but I appreciate your continued love for Kyoto and Japan!

    Outstanding list. I might put Saiho-ji as number one because it is such a unique experience, but all three are spectacular and uncrowded. I think Saiho-Ji was the least crowded, and once admitted to the garden you could spend the entire day. There are many other quiet gardens in Kyoto, not mentioned, so I hope the tours buses keep dropping the mobs off at Kinkakuji and Rioan-ji. BTW. When I visited Saiho-ji, there was a required Zen Buddhist chanting ceremony that was beautiful and added to the experience.

      Thank you very much for your wonderful comment! I had a feeling that you have probably visited Kyoto several times. Although there is a problem of over-tourism, I hope that those gardens will continue to be maintained for quiet worship😉

    Hi Kenzo. I love this video. Is Enko-ji uphills? My husband has a small disability so I would like to avoid any trouble for him. Are there many stairs? Thanks

    • @tour-guide-KENZO

      Thank you for watching my video! Well, Enko-ji is on a hill and has some steps... I recommend Daigo-ji. It's Sanbo-in garden is superb and has no hills at all. You can get there by subway and short taxi ride from central Kyoto.

    Magnificent! Are bamboo forests common all throughout Kyoto? I am planning my first trip next year and I will search for a ryokan that suits my needs. If you can recommend for a solo traveler that would be great! RJ

    • @tour-guide-KENZO
      @tour-guide-KENZO  Год назад

      Thanks again for commenting! Regarding your question, the most beautiful Bamboo Forest in Kyoto is in the area called Arashiyama.
      The number of ryokan that can accommodate solo travelers may be limited, but the best ryokan, such as the Tawaraya Ryokan and Hiiragiya Ryokan, may be able to accommodate such a request.
      Alternatively, you might try to find a Japanese-style hotel such as these ones.

    Очень полезный ролик, я лечу в апреле в Японию и уже боюсь толпы туристов. Скажите пожалуйста,сад мхов ( если я получу ответ от них), в апреле идти? потому что все рекомендуют в сезон дождей… а я буду в апреле.

    • @tour-guide-KENZO
      @tour-guide-KENZO  Год назад +1

      Спасибо, что посмотрели мое видео!
      Апрель - очень оживленное время в Киото, но толпы туристов немного успокаиваются после того, как в середине месяца заканчивается сезон цветения сакуры.
      В частности, я думаю, что 15-25 апреля - хорошее время для посещения.
      В конце апреля свежая зелень кленовых деревьев находится в самом лучшем состоянии, а сочетание с садом мхов просто прекрасно.
      Погода более стабильна и более комфортна для путешествий, чем в сезон дождей в июне.
      Кроме того, мох не любит сильного солнечного света, поэтому если вы посетите сад мхов утром, вы сможете оценить его в наилучшем состоянии. Для справки.

    How is the gardens look like if I visit in summer like in may or june?

    • @tour-guide-KENZO
      @tour-guide-KENZO  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your comments!
      May is the most comfortable season of the year, with many sunny days.
      In the garden, the fresh green of maple leaves and the pink of the azaleas are beautiful.
      In June, it rains a little more, but the moss absorbs the water and becomes alive and beautiful.
      Hydrangeas are coming into full bloom, followed by lotus flowers.
