8 Hours Plus: The World’s 5 Longest Boeing 737 MAX Flights This Summer

- Long-haul narrowbody flights have always been controversial. Many argue that they're less comfortable than widebodies, although new technology plays a vital role in making cabins feel more spacious.
For airlines, however, a narrowbody flight has a far lower trip cost than one operated by a widebody. However, it has a higher seat-mile cost and higher cost per seat, as there are fewer seats to fill. This balance partly depends on the extent of premium passengers and/or a lack of competition, helping to increase average fares to counterbalance the higher costs.
Let’s see what airlines have planned for the upcoming season of long-haul 737 MAX flights, in today’s video!

My longest narrow body flight was about 8 hours, across the Atlantic, from South America to Amsterdam. I was in business class and it was very comfortable.
This was on a DC-8.
My longest narrow body flight was on a JetBlue A321-200 was a medium haul flight from JFK-SFO for about 6 hours and 15 minutes
Get used to it .weary travelers..
Only going to get worse with even longer range narrow bodies coming online...
10+hrs..in a cramped single aisle...
Visions of the 757 dancing in my head..
Very efficient from an operators perspective, as for passenger comfort, ..give me a twin aisle every time.!!
Torture to do anything over 5hrs in a narrow body
Southwest has 7-8 hour flights all year long!
AGREED
Just wait till the A321 XLR comes out
@@h_gordy where??? Their longest flight is 5.5-6 hours from Hawaii
I could survive one of these flights if:
(a) There was IFE.
(b) The seats were comfortable.
(c) The catering offering was up to long-haul standards.
My longest narrow-body was a 6-hour flight in a Tui 757 from Gatwick to Boa Vista. Not great!
787 are squished. i dont get how narrowbodies have the perception of being less comfy
(d) If you fly in a Fokker aircraft!
My longest narrow-body flight was 5 hours 30 minutes on a B737-800, B757, and A321 from California to Hawaii.
I did a 6 hour flight from HNL to PHX on a LUV MAX. It was packed. When you have two grown men sitting one at the window and the other in the middle seat this is when you really feel the narrower curve of the cabin vs the A320/32. The longer the flight, the more problematic this becomes.
My longest narrow body flight was from a base in Saudi Arabia to a base in Oklahoma by way of Rome, Shannon, and New York (JFK) back during Iraqi Freedom. Even a long haul on my favorite airplane of all time (the 75) could not compare to the awesome yet shorter flights i had on the 777 I flew from IAD to DEN (less than 6 months after United got them) and 767 I flew from ATL to LAS back in 2015. In both cases the window seat only had one seat next to it then the aisle! No comparison!
My longest narrow body flight was from Helsinki to Tenerife on Finnair's A321-200. It was about 5-6 hours.
My longest narrow body flight was PDX-MIA on Delta back in 2016 (on a Boeing 757-200).
There's a direct 8 hrs flight with Batik's A320 from Jakarta to Biak. Biak is a town in Papua, Indonesia. Yes, it is a domestic flight.
I once flew a Tu-154 (now all retired by Aeroflot) from Ulan Bator, Mongolia to Moscow in May of 2002, for ~6 hours. Saw the dense Siberian taiga. The next day, flew Aeroflot widebody B-767 to Los Angeles, for 14 hours (my longest), over Scandinavia, N. Atlantic, Greenland & Canada. It was cheaper than to fly back to LA over the Pacific & I made a round world trip!
3:31 My longest narrow body flight is Kuala Lumpur to Taipei and vice versa at 2,019 miles and 5 hours block time each way. The flights were on A321neo operated by Starlux Airlines of Taiwan, which I found to be fabulous.
I like this channel but this was supposed to be a video of the “5” longest 737 flights but you only talked about one, and had on the screen briefly a list of all five. This might not qualify as click bait but it’s awfully close.
The longest narrow body flight I’ve flown clocked in at 3,191 km and was from Paphos, Cyprus to London Gatwick on an easyJet A320neo taking 4 1/2 hours
Just over 7 hours in a B737-900 from Istanbul to Accra with Turkish Airlines . Surprisingly it was the most comfortable flight I've ever had in a B737
Cairns to Singapore on SQ - 6.50 Hours. Return about the same.
Luckily in Bus Class! Nearly 7.5 if you taking in boarding and the taxiing to and from the runway...
My longest narrow body flight was from Paphos (Cyprus) to Dublin (5 hrs) operating as crew on board Ryanair's Boeing 737 Max 8-200
Jet Blue - London to New York in a A321 XLr. Business class was surprisingly spacious (similar to wide body), but oh lord was the economy return brutal. Especially at 6”6
Really wanna try one of these out this summer!
My longest narrow body flight was Halifax - Calgary. Well under 5 hours on a 737 Max 8. New aircraft and had to use my cellphone to keep my brain busy.
Kenyan's CPT-NBO is over 6 hrs. It was done in a E190 with a stop, now they've switched it to a 737-800.
Which airport it CPT?

Anything beyond 3 hours on a narrowbody becomes a torture for me. My longest is 5 hours on a B737-300.
Longest narrow body flight for me was from London Standsted to Agadir, Morocco
My longest narrowbody (757) flight: KIAD-KSEA 2306 mi, taken in 1994.
My longest narrowbody flight was a 4 hour RYANAIR max 8 from Stansted to Tenerife and back
My longest narrow body flight was on an Ethiopian Airlines B38M from Addis to GBE which took about 5 hours 30 min.
My longest narrowbody flight was on an Asiana A321NEO from Incheon to Bangkok. Flight time was about six hours.
my longest narrow body flight was from PHX to KOA. it was 6 Hours and 30 Minutes on an American Airlines Airbus A321 Neo
I did PRG - DXB on 737-800 that took approx 6 hours. Not a great experience
Longest narrow aircraft flight was Iceland to Orlando back in the nineties.
Copa Airlines...Panama to Uruguay is just over 7 hours in their MAX 9. They've upgraded their cabins with lie flats seats and an economy plus (extra legroom). All seats have IFE.
My longest flight was a couple of weeks ago on a Jet2 737 from London Stanstead to LPA - just over 4 hours - seats were hard as nails and theres no IFE - a big bus in the sky with no frills.
Belfast to Amsterdam Schipol was probably my longest narrow body flight. I think that's longer than Cork to Schipol, which I've also flown. I don't like the idea of spending 5 hours on a narrow body because I've never been able to afford a premium option. I might consider it if I could afford a business class seat.
my longest narrowbody flight is IST-KGL on a 737-900ER, just shy of 6 hours
Mine is not as long as a lot of people. I’ve flown DFW to Sacramento before AA retired the MD80’s and I flew Houston to Sacrament before United took over continental on the 737-900. I left from a commuter airport in Texas to school in California. So I always stopped in DFW or IAH for a layover.
Brisbane to Perth is flown on 737s and is typically 5 to 6 hours depending on direction travelled.
Personally it doesn't really matter if its narrow or wide as I have to use business class on it as I am too big for all standard economy seats.
I flew from Bali to Adelaide with Jetstar, around 4-5 hours long and it was mid. I didn't pre booked food but I did bring snacks haha
Longest was ATL - SAT. A321. A good 2-3 hours.
No MAX for me ever but I hate single aisle planes for long haul. 737 in turbulence one time heading south to Aruba while flying over Miami was most miserable experience ever.
My longest narrowbody flight is onboard an Airbus A320ceo by Indonesia Airasia from Jakarta to Bangkok and vv and the flight time was at least 3 hours.
I flew AA SFO-MIA on B757 back in 2013, 5 hr flight . Don't know whether they still operate B757 on this route or not
Bucharest - London, 3 hours. Unsure of the aircraft type, but I believe it was an A321-200. Not very comfortable. Also this flight is my longest flight ever, I don't fly very far.
My longest narrow body flight was MSP-AUA In a suncountry 737-800
the reason why after UA74 In november 2011 I will aim for the aisle seat and look at how the aircraft performs.
Heard stories about Uniteds 757-200wl stories heading east from beyond the UK landing In Gander...
After doing SID-CPH on a a321ceo sharklet then I am kinda intriqued...
Longest was ERW-ARN on CO before the merger. Nice ride both ways in business first. I had the same great crew both ways.
My longest was on TF-LLX, an Icelandair 757-200 KEF-YVR, about 7 1/2 hours which was absolutely fine, since they’re configured for that sort of flying. Next longest was G-TUKO, TUI 737-800 PFO-BHX which was about 5 1/2 hours and that was absolutely miserable crammed into their cabin and it was HOT. Flying MAN-TFS on Ryanair’s 737Max200 in 3 weeks which I’m dreading as 2 hours BUD-STN was bad enough!
My longest narrowbody flight was from BCN to KEF (wow air a320)
My longest narrowbody flight has been on TAP Air Portugal from Washington Dulles to Lisbon, about 7 hours. I've also done their Newark to Lisbon and Lisbon to JFK, which actually the longest. The A321neo is not a bad aircraft, but, ironically, between my IAD to LIS flight in 2000 and the LIS to JFK just two months ago, I've seen a decline in the TAP service. It's unlikely I'll ever fly TAP again.
Sin - Kathmandu about 4.5 hrs
Budapest to Dubai and Back, 5 hours in an a321
my longest flight was from london to goa on a a321 charter. that was awful
My longest narrow body flight is Caribbean Airlines 737-800 from Trinidad to Toronto 6 hours due to the jet stream migrating to the south during the winter months.
Batik air is under lion air. But unlike lion air, it targets premium passengers.
sao paolo to mia is a longhaul??
My longest was 7 hours from Birmingham U.K. to Boa Vista Cape verde on a 737 max with tui
Bro y'all knew on the route AMS-DXB flies among others the big emirates a380 and and the tiny transavia 737😮
In the Fokker F130NG you could fly for years without any fatigue what so ever! You would expect nothing less for a superior company like Fokker.
Batik air OD157 from bali depasar to brisbane 5.27 hrs
I’d rather have a direct 8-9h XLR flight than have stops. As long as the seat pitch and width stays good
TXL -> EWR on United B757… painfully long, uncomfortable, and stifling. My next longest was FRA -> JFK on DL B757, same story. (I expected a B767 service, and was so pissed at another transAtlantic west bound flight on a narrow body in economy. Talk about a crunchy back that lasted as long as my jet lag. Not doing trans-oceanic, trans-continental again. Seats may be the same, but the queue to the lavatory in a single aisle, and the sheer visual width of the cabin is overbearing especially on fully packed flights 9/which was my experience. Give me an opportunity to fly trans-Atlantic again on the B707’s or DC-8’s and I probably would jump on THAT (with old seat configurations + today’s added overhead storage bin size for carryons).
ATL-LAX on Spirit… 5 hours.
Aviation was offering the world 380s but you’ll wanted cheaper seats. Good job people.
nope thank you... once scheduled a flight with Mandala Tiger Air for CGK - HKG using A320, but later Mandala ceased operation, and the flight was taken over by Tiger Air holding, and re-route into CGK-SIN-HKG.. but still, 5 hours flying on A320s for SIN-HKG vv was quite a "torture"... and it's not because of there is no IFE, but rather for feeling cramped inside a long tube.... something that should be diminished by the birth of 747... 😅from that time, I realize flying narrow body under 4 hours is still manageable, but if more than that, I'd prefer using widebody 😁
Did Heathrow to Johannesburg 5yrs ago on a so called dreamliner with virgin worst flight ever turns out they supposed to be 3 x3x3 but are fitted 3x4x3
What's the longest ryanair flight?
Soon in winter KEF-YVR
My longest narrow body flight is probably Manchester to Hurghada Easyjet a321
Off block 1:15
Air grime 45 ish minutes
flyDubai 737MAX8 FZ41 Dubai to Muscat
Hiroshima to Singapore-Silk Air
Lisbon to Moscow-Aeroflot

KEF-IAD I think 6h on the nose
Melbourne to Perth, then Perth to Melbourne a week later.
I've flown on an Aer Lingus UK A321-LR transatlantic service from Manchester to New York JFK. No difference between the narrow body and wide body experience, because there was a decent IFE service available. I never get the space argument. How does it matter whether it's wide body or narrow body, double aisle or single aisle? The seat size is exactly the same. It's not like you get a private suite in economy when you're on a wide body jet.
That said, I would never fly on a Batik Air jet (wide or narrow body) for any length of time greater than 1 or 2 hours. They are a low-cost carrier who don't have IFE in economy (at least they didn't in August 2022) and I can't imagine flying 8+ hours without IFE!
TLV-LTN. no problems...
Dubai to Budapest by flydubai 737 max8
PTY- GRU on a Max9 over 6h, should be ilegal
Melbourne to Manila Philippine airline Airbus 321lLR Jun 2022
WAW TO DXB
from Han to Tokyo
Myn was MAN to FAO
These people are brave! Flying 8 hrs in a max?! I'd only feel safe sitting in a max that's sitting on the tarmac.
To me anything over 5 h in a narrow body plane is not humane. But we all know airlines only care about profits.
I will never fly on it. The MAX must be scrapped
No thanks, I wouldn't fly long haul in B-737 in economy. Only in business or first class.
I went from Madrid to JFK in a B-757 in economy with a stop in Gander for refuelling. Worst fly ever.
Easy. Won't fly on these crappy flights if given the choice.
The longest flight in a flying coffin sounds legal.
Eye roll...
If its boeing i am not going.
airbus panboy😂😂😂😂
@@prasenjittripura4691 you dont know how even to spell. are you boeing employee? hahaha
Then don’t..
You probably don't go too many places. 😂
Fine with me.
B737 is far too dangerous to be used fir 8hr flights plus too cramped and mo inflight entertainment or food plus seats are cramped and b737 unable to use for 8hr flight
Too dangerous? Any data to support that it doesn't do well on long flights or just a Boeing hater?
After 8 hrs in a narrow body, 🤕🫨
